Insanely gorgeous, The Netherlands just unexpectedly ramped the quality of this year up by quite a bit. If this doesn't take them back to the final then I'm going to stop watching for good. Amsterdam 2014.

This is vvv good <3 Going to do nothing at Eurovision though, unfortunately. Unless a miracle will happen.

Very strange song choice. That's all, what I can say.

Minimum : It's not bad. Very retro.

Funny to see pretty good reactions here. On another site the reactions are mostly negative (granted it's a Dutch site so we're judging our own entry there).

I'm not sure what to think. I don't think we really stand a chance considering we're in the first half of a semi final that has quite a few other ballads all sung by females.

omg yes Anouk should get as far away from Estonia, Russia (and potentially Cyprus) as possible haha.

(SO MANY FEMALES in Semi 1 WOT)

STUNNER doesn't describe the way I feel about this song, it is free of all flaws.
This is fantastic. It doesn't feel like what normally does well at Eurovision but hopefully that won't work against it. If the Netherlands don't make the final with this they'd be entirely justified in never taking a second look at this contest again.
Sounds nice, like the Birds Of A Feather theme tune from the acapella

I stand by this, I could hum 'what'll I do, when you are far away...' over the top  So so gorgeous, it better get to the final because I want to see this live!

Their odds have now dropped to 16/1 with William Hill... Not seen a Dutch entry that low for many years! It's a good song, and will surely qualify.
Wow this is relly good :o It dosn't stand a chance of winning though, but this is one of the better this year :D

How is it possible that every dutchmen hates this but many foreigners love it ...

I personally don't like it, might grow though

Wow! It sounds like 1968... very nice, very special. I like it.

I'm surprised by all the positive reactions!

Personally I'm not a big fan but it's definitely better than what we've been sending the last 11 years (and that's only 'cause I don't know our entries before 2002 except 'Hemel en Aarde' and 'Ding-a-Dong').

I suspect that the Dutch (Atonement/Tim correct me if I'm wrong) would be overjoyed with just getting into the final and finishing 26th. Also, it doesn't really matter what the Dutch think of it as such, rather what people in the countries voting in Semi 1 Think of it.

Personally, this is in my top 5 for sure.

You don't know wonderful "Ansterdam" :o

Netherlands is the one from my favourite ESC countries in retro years. 6 wins in personal rankings (1956, 1961, 1964, 1980, 1987, 1990, 1999). Only United Kingdom have more wins.

Some personal favourites here :

Maywood - Ik Wil Alles Met Je Delen (1990) (My Favourite ESC song from all 90s decade)

Jetty Paerl - De Vogels Van Holland (1956) (First ESC song)

Marcha - Rechtop In The Wind (1987)

Maggie MacNeal - Amsterdam (1980)

Maribelle - Ik Hou Van Jou (1984)

Bernadette - Sing Me A Song (1983)

Like this on first listen, reminds me a lot of a Lana Del Rey type song! On that basis, I'm sure it'll grow a lot over more listens!

And with that, any chance there was of me liking this just went out the window!

Actually, it wasn't that bad, the chorus is better and sounds like it'll grow but it does sound a bit outdated. Alright but not in my top 5 and not even my favourite Dutch entry of recent years. :(
