In this week's singles chart, the big battle for the top spot is between Rihanna and PSY, who has won it ?

Emmanuel Moire and The Rolling Stones enter the chart, and there are charting news for Adele, Birdy, Far*East Movement featuring Cover Drive, Maroon 5, Ellie Goulding, Canardo feat. Tal, Marlon Roudette feat. Lala Joy...

Thank you !

Nice to see 'On se fout de nous' making some upward movement but it's still so low :( Does Shy'm still release physicals?

I don't know, she has not released it yet, and there are very little physical singles in the shops now. Her record company prefers focusing on her album which is up three places at 21. As the album is close to the top 20 in its 16th week, we can think that "On Se Fout De Nous" is not stranger to that success, is it ? ;)

I never usually look at the French charts but 12,000 sales for a #1 single - Are they normally that low?

12,000 is actually rather high! In the summer sales for #1 were usually below 10k. Interestingly this poor sales climate comes at a time when France is transitioning from physical singles to downloads, much like the UK in the mid-2000s. It will be interesting to see if French sales recover in a similar manner.

Thanks for the reply - Hopefully sales in France will continue to climb as it's always been a big market for music, Are CD singles still available for each release over there?

Gah, you quoted me before I could fix my errors! That's what I get for typing on my phone

I believe France is at the stage where CDs are still relatively commonplace but they're beginning to be phased out, so I guess like the UK circa 2009? Taking Shy'm as an example - she's possibly the biggest (native) popstar in France but I don't believe she's releasing physical singles during her current era. But physicals can still affect the chart - a few months ago, a song barely top 20 on the digital chart was top 10 on the official chart because of its physical sales, and Shy'm's lead single this era was a digital #1 but a #2 on the official chart (-_-)

Album sales, at least, are relatively healthy! The French #1 actually outsold the British #1 quite often during the summer.

I use my phone on here too and make loads of mistakes with my spelling and the fact it changes some of the words that I type  interesting that CD singles have survived so long in France but yes I guess it is the same as in the UK when suddenly CD singles were hard to find and not everyone was into downloading, Will be taking more of an interet in the French charts and sales from now on
