Posted October 19, 201212 yr Well i got his book, great read btw but would have preferred more insider gossip about PI like his thoughts on the Gareth bias. Shocked he wants to move from Sony!! :w00t: He constantly talks about sales being bad how is 400k-500k bad!?? in this market.. Will be interesting about Universal... Why the hell did Sony want to drop him after Let It Go, it sold 400k!! ridiculous. Is this a mutual decision or Sony's orWills!?? I knew he'd switch to Universal records one day...this will be interesting. Edited November 8, 201212 yr by truly talented

Loved the bit about them playing him Pitbull music. Shows unlike the other puppets Will is very much his own man. Thank goodness he stuck to his guns and proved them wrong with Jealousy and Echoes. Yes I thought he was very quiet about Gareth but wasn't shy in airing his feelings about Darius. Edited October 19, 201212 yr by truly talented

Following a note in his autobiography Funny Peculiar, released last month, in which Young said he was coming to the end of his current album deal and was ‘in the process’ of signing a new one with the Universal-owned label, the news has now been confirmed in an announcement from Island. Young said: “After almost 11 happy fulfilling years at Sony records I have decided to move on now to Island records. Growing up Island records was known to me as the bastion of real, exciting music. Music that was varied but always shared a common theme of soulful honesty whoever the artist was. It is with a huge sense of pride and excitement that I start the next stage of my pop career with Island records under the flag of Universal. “To go from winning a talent competition to signing with the legendary Island a decade on is truly the stuff that dreams are made of and I thank everyone who has helped me along the way.” Darcus Beese co-president of Island Records added: “We are absolutely delighted and enormously excited that Will, without question, one of the most consistently successful and best- loved UK male artists of the last decade, has decided to join the Island family in what we trust will be the defining phase of his career. “A multi-platinum selling artist, an acclaimed actor and one of the nicest guys you’ll meet in this business, there really isn’t anyone else out there doing what Will does, anywhere near as well as he does it. We can’t wait to get started”. David Joseph, chairman and chief executive Universal Music UK, echoed those sentiments saying: “I’ve followed Will’s achievements for many years and am delighted that we are going to be working together. Will is a genuine talent and a true long-term artist – I’m confident his next albums will be the most exciting of his career.” Young’s forthcoming albums will be released worldwide through the label, home to artists such as Bob Marley, U2, Queen and Amy Winehouse up to current million-sellers Florence and the Machine, Jessie J and Mumford & Sons. November 8, 201212 yr Thanks for the Music Week article Sunday, :D I'm really happy that he's moved away from Sony this year, I know they've been really good with him for 11 years, but I think for the last 4 years Will's had to fight his own corner a lot, the doubts and half hearted support for Echoes and Jealousy put the writing on the wall for Sony from Will I think. So happy that his manager the lovely loyal Simon Fuller feels the same, bring it on Will! :cheer: Commenting on the new deal, Young’s manager Simon Fuller (founder of XIX Entertainment), said: "I look on with great pride as Will continues his remarkable journey as one of Britain's most valued and popular singers. November 8, 201212 yr Great news and brilliant comments - thanks for bringing them over. I particularly like this comment:- Young’s forthcoming albums will be released worldwide through the label, It's time the world hears what we've heard for 11 years. :offtopic: Is anyone else being asked to do a survey every time they come onto BJ? It's getting annoying.

November 11, 201212 yr Author Now Island records have all 3 of the biggest male solo artists in this country Robbie Will and James. I'm shocked he's left Sony but i just knew he'd move to Universal one day. I think Sony deserve a round of applause, even though Will will downplay it as much as possible they've been insanely brilliant to him for 10 years. I wonder if Sony wanted to get rid of him which i doubt considering the last album just sold 500k, or if Will wanted to leave himself for a fresh start.
November 12, 201212 yr I wonder if Sony wanted to get rid of him which i doubt considering the last album just sold 500k, or if Will wanted to leave himself for a fresh start. I think it has probably come about because of Simon Fuller's business partnership with the boss of Island records. :D
November 15, 201212 yr Will this mean Simon Fuller to still be wills manager? Hope so he has been great with Will. a great 10 years with sony and heres to hopefully a better 10 years with island! just hope we get new music next year and there is not too much of a wait, understand will wanting to try and be succesful in new fields of work but his fans LOVE his music, with long waits like we have seen in the past with certain artist can lead to decreases in fan base, i know will has a solid fan structure but people can get bored.
