The film stars Barbra Streisand and Nick Nolte. It tells the story of the narrator's struggle to overcome the psychological damage inflicted by his dysfunctional childhood in South Carolina. Streisand initially hired English composer John Barry to write a score for the film, but Barry eventually left due to creative differences. In a 7 March 1996 Cinemusic conference interview, Barry explained his exodus from the film, stating, "I was asked by Barbra Streisand to do The Prince of Tides – I live in New York, she lives in Los Angeles – and I went and met with her, and she showed me some footage, and she said, 'Why aren't you moving to Los Angeles?' and I said, 'Absolutely not.' And she said, 'Well, I like to know what's going on' – Barbra's an extreme case, by the way – and I said, 'Even if I did move to Los Angeles, I have no desire to meet with you once I know what I'm going to do. I can't work with someone over my shoulder, absolutely no way.'" Barry later retitled his theme for The Prince of Tides "Moviola" and it was released on his 1992 movie theme album of the same name. The soundtrack contains two songs by Streisand, although they did not appear in the film. One of those songs "Places That Belong To You" was at one point intended for the film's end credits, but replaced with new music by Howard in the released version. This single was another Streisand's top 20 hit in United Kingdom with peak position at # 17. Edited December 6, 201311 yr by AlexRange

December 5, 201311 yr x_tW3vU3RyQ Recording stars from Frank Sinatra to Dolly Parton have recorded the songs of Carole Bayer Sager. So also have Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Melissa Manchester, Christopher Cross, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, The Doobie Brothers, Gladys Knight, Roberta Flack, Johnny Mathis, Leo Sayer, Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Patti LaBelle, El DeBarge, Bob Dylan, Kenny Rogers and even Carole herself. The petite lyricist constitutes one-half of one of the world's most successful songwriting teams, as she and husband, Burt Bacharach, have proven many times. During the past year, the couple have enjoyed two number one songs, "On My Own," recorded by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald, and "That's What Friends Are For." Records of both songs went gold. "That's What Friends Are For," recorded by Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder, also raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the American Foundation for AIDS Research. "That's What Friends Are For"-nominated for Grammys for "Song of the Year" and "Record of the Year" in 1986-was the number one song of the year. And, "On My Own" was the second-biggest seller of 1986. She has been writing professionally for more than 20 years, and began when she was a student at New York City’s High School of Music and Art. She graduated from New York University where she focused on English, Dramatic Arts and Speech. Sager, with her husband, made their debut as a team, by winning an Oscar for Best Song for the 1981 "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)." Their songs for other films include "Making Love," three songs for the film, Night Shift, and the Roberta Flack-Peabo Bryson hit recording of "Romantic Comedy." Two other Sager songs, "Looking Through the Eyes of Love," (from Ice Castles) and "Nobody Does It Better," (from The Spy Who Loved Me) were also nominated for Oscars, and her songs have also received Grammy nominations. Sager's lyrics are also heard in the long-running play, They're Playing Our Song, (the result of a collaboration with Marvin Hamlisch and Neil Simon). A singer as well as a writer, Sager has had three self-penned albums. Her own hit singles have included "Stronger Than Before," and "You're Moving Out Today." In addition to Burt Bacharach, Sager's list of collaborators includes Neil Diamond, Melissa Manchester, Bette Midler, Peter Allen, Quincy Jones, Bruce Roberts, David Foster and Michael McDonald. Other hit titles in the Sager catalog include "Come in from the Rain," Don't Out Loud," “When I Need You," "Midnight Blue," "It's My Turn," "Everything Old Is New Again," “Break It to Me Gently," "Making Love," "Heartlight" and her very first hit, "A Groovy Kind of Love."

One of very few of Wilde's songs not written by herself or her family, it was written by American songwriting duo Rick Nowels and Ellen Shipley, who had been responsible for writing several hits, notably those by American singer Belinda Carlisle. Wilde travelled to Los Angeles to do three live tracks with Nowels and during her time there he played her "Love Is Holy" and she took to it instantly. They recorded it the following day and it became Wilde's biggest hit of the 1990s at that point, reaching the Top 20 in several countries (# 16 in United Kingdom, # 13 in Switzerland, # 18 in Netherlands). Bikini Kill, Huggy Bear and Hole at #1? Hmm, on reflection probably not. 1. What does the term "a right rock song" mean ? Can some my previous # 1s counts as rock ? (Bonnie Tyler, Heart, Lita Ford, Doll e.t.c. or Kenickie in future) 2. I didn't heard about Bikini Kill and Huggy Bear. This thread based on UK Singles Chart. Maybe it's possible to see them here, if they had any top 40/75/100 songs in UK. Hole can get # 1 in future, most possible Courtney Love will be on the top with her solo single "Mono" in 2004 (it's the one from my least favourite years in music) 3. Some years were miles better, than others. I like "Pretend We're Dead" + this single was released in 1992. Musically it was the weak year. It's very good song in compare with all clubshit, urban singles and even mainstream pop also was bad in that year. Edited December 7, 201311 yr by AlexRange

December 7, 201311 yr Author 20.06.1992 : Beautiful South - Bell Bottomed Tear (2 weeks # 1) http://www.freewebs.com/tbsforum/gallery4.jpg JPHufdlNtPc "Bell Bottomed Tear" was the third single from Beautiful South's third album "0898 Beautiful South". The full title of the album is 0898 Beautiful South, but it is usually shortened to just 0898, which is how it appears on the back cover of the album. The spacing and typography difference on the front cover and spine can be taken to imply it should be read as "0898" (by) "Beautiful South" - two separate phrases. The title refers to the 0898 premium rate dialling code associated with sex hotlines in the UK at the time. The album reached number 4 on the UK charts, unlike their previous two albums which reached number 2; the record company blamed this on the cover which showed ladies' faces on the back of terrapins' shells. While the first two singles, "Old Red Eyes Is Back" and "We Are Each Other", charted in the UK at #22 and #30, respectively. third single "Bell Bottomed Tear" was the only Top 20 hit from the album, reaching #16. L7 were truly rocking. Heart started out rock, went a bit mushy and have come back around to rock. Kenickie were just fab. Not exactly rock but more indie.

It is the theme for the film "A League of Their Own", which starred Madonna as well as Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Rosie O'Donnell. Though featured in the film, it is not available on the soundtrack album, due to licensing restrictions that prohibited Madonna material from being mixed or compiled with other singers on albums. It was originally available on the Olympics-inspired Barcelona Gold compilation album released that summer, but in a shorter edit than any of the versions on the commercial singles. It would later be featured on Madonna's 1995 ballads compilation "Something to Remember". Released in the summer of 1992, the single was a worldwide hit. It spent one week at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, becoming Madonna's tenth chart-topping single. It entered the charts in the UK top five, peaking at number three for two weeks, and was another top five hit for Madonna in numerous other markets. The song earned Madonna a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Original Song. Sixteen number one single for Madonna. Edited December 8, 201311 yr by AlexRange
December 10, 201311 yr Author 22.08.1992 : Kylie Minogue - What Kind Of Fool (1 week # 1) http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/kknmjar5TFc/hqdefault.jpg kknmjar5TFc "What Kind of Fool (Heard All That Before)" is a song performed by Australian recording artist and songwriter Kylie Minogue, from her greatest hits album Greatest Hits (1992). The song was written by Mike Stock, Kylie Minogue and Pete Waterman, and produced by Stock and Waterman. The song received generally positive reviews from many music critics, who praised it as a good single for her last PWL single. Many critics compared the song with "I Should Be So Lucky" and "Better the Devil You Know", but they did say that the song lacked a catchy hook. The song was released on 10 August 1992 worldwide. The music video features Minogue sunbathing in front of a blanket, while a male actor is behind it with a rose. It later showed the male and Minogue having a source of intercourse, while she is singing in a hot day. In the bridge, it shows Minogue in a blue plaid dress dancing while the spotlight spreads all over a wall. She later serenades her lover, and she dances in a house. The music video later ends with Minogue kissing him and she walks out the room, while the man sits on a chair feeling bothered, or left alone. The song's reception itself became one of Minogue's least successful singles to date. The single's video recreated scenes made famous by Brigitte Bardot in the 1956 film "And God Created Woman". Despite receiving positive reviews from music critics, the song however did not receive much commercial attention. The song had debuted at number thirty-seven in her native Australia. After five weeks, it climbed and peaked at number seventeen. The song received gold by Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), selling over 35,000 copies. The song debuted at number sixteen on UK Singles Chart. The song later rose to number fourteen, where it peaked, staying in the charts for five weeks. The song debuted at number twenty-two on the Irish Singles Chart, but became unsuccessful. Edited December 10, 201311 yr by AlexRange

It was the first single released from the album "Please Yourself" in 1992. This is the first single released by Bananarama as a duo, as Jacquie O'Sullivan had left the group the prior year. It was produced by Mike Stock and Pete Waterman, two-thirds of the Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW) trio who had produced a bulk of Bananarama's past hits. "Movin' On" is a pop song with disco influences, as Stock and Waterman attempted to create an ABBA-like sound for "Please Yourself" album. The single met with mixed reviews and moderate success when released, peaking at number twenty-four in the UK singles chart. The music video begins with the girls performing from behind a wooden cut-out of the image that appears on the cover of the single. They emerge from behind it in red evening gowns and descend a staircase as scantily clad showboys with feathered fans perform around them. Several muscular men pose on podiums as live Grecian statues. As a nod to their trademark silliness, they can be seen tussling in the midst of their choreographed descent down the stairs. At the end, the duo make a languid exit down the long runway of a stage, and then reappear from behind the wooden cut-outs, to the sound of applause. The song was later covered by Steps on their second album "Steptacular". Edited December 10, 201311 yr by AlexRange

As reported by The Times, the deal was £4m over five years. That figure includes £400,000 forwarded to the Sussex based duo when the deal was closed in June 1991. It does not include the £200,000 reportedly being lavished on the promotion of their single, "I Wanna Be In Love Again". The group composed of the singers, Sian Russell and Katrina Stevens. The group was launched when Tony Williams, Gordon MacKay and Allan Wiseman decided to indulge their songwriting hobby by making demo tapes of some of their tunes. They hired Russell and Stevens to sing on the demos, the intention being to try to sell the songs to major artists. Russell and Stevens, who had not previously worked together, liked the songs enough to persuade Williams/MacKay/Wiseman to let them “keep them”. Beijing Spring was thus born. The group played at its first gig in late 1992 as special guests on the Curtis Stigers and Richard Marx tours. They failed to achieve mainstream success however, with just three minor singles on UK Singles Chart. "We Can Keep This Together" was their debut single, which peaked at # 87. Subsequently, Simon and Helen formed an all girl band called The Marines with Denny Jones and Sarah Pritchard; Simon wrote and produced the material and they were managed by Colin Lester. After a couple of minor hit singles and tour support for Kylie Minogue in 1989, it was decided that Helen should become a solo artist. For the next 18 months, Helen and Simon worked on putting her solo album "Wild About Nothing" together. They signed to Warner Brothers and began recording in April 1992. The original pressing of the album only had 11 tracks; "Edge of a Dream" (featuring Bryan Adams) was added later on, not having been a part of the original album recording. "Summer of Love", which was a hit in Norway and Finland, but unsuccessful in UK (# 99). The album sold gold in Finland.
