With this success Steps overtake Bucks Fizz and New Seekers in a total table and got 10th # 1 single and became the fourth group with 10 or more number one singles in my retrospective (after a classic pop groups ABBA, Brotherhood Of Man and Blondie). The song didn't serve as a lead single, but was released as a joint single. No music video was produced nor promotion was even served for the song. Though it didn't managed to match the success of the original version, it did chart in some record charts including Australia, Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium.

The song is an uptempo pop song about the darker side of life and an attempt to break free. It was the fifth song to be released from the group's second album "Steptacular". The music video has a futuristic style, with the group wearing blue latex uniforms for the dance sequences and each transforming into a darker alter-ego during the video. The alter-egos are to show the darker side of life that the song talks about. The single entered the charts at #4 in UK and spent one more week in the top ten before falling down the charts. After a total of 9 weeks, the shortest for any Steps single, the song left the top 75. 11th # 1 single for Steps.
September 18, 201410 yr Author 13.05.2000 : Britney Spears - Oops!... I Did It Again (4 weeks # 1) http://www.celebritywatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/may-24-britney-spears-oops...i-did-it-again-video-i.jpg CduA0TULnow "Oops!... I Did It Again" is a song recorded by American singer Britney Spears for her second studio album and my favourite "Oops!... I Did It Again" (2000). It was released on March 27, 2000, by Jive Records as the lead single from the album. "Oops!... I Did It Again" is a dance-pop and teen pop song that lyrically speaks of a female who views love as a game, and she decides to use that to her advantage by playing with her lover's emotions. Its bridge features a dialogue which references the blockbuster film "Titanic" (1997). Upon its release, "Oops!... I Did It Again" received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who noted similarities to her debut single "...Baby One More Time". "Oops!... I Did It Again" has been recognized as being among Spears's signature songs. An accompanying music video was directed by Nigel Dick. It depicts Spears in Mars, where she addresses an astronaut who has fallen in love with her. She was dressed in a red latex catsuit, which was considered too provocative for Spears's then-juvenile image. It went on to receive three nominations at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. "Oops!... I Did It Again" enjoyed success throughout Europe, peaked at number one on UK Singles Chart and was certified Gold for exceeding sales of 400,000 copies. The song reached number two in Austria. It respectively peaked at numbers one and three on Wallonia and Flanders charts in Belgium, and also respectively reached numbers one and two in Denmark and Finland. "Oops!... I Did It Again" reached number four in France, and number two in both Germany and Ireland. In Germany, the single additionally received a gold certification, signifying sales of 250,000 units. It also topped singles charts in Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

It was released on 18 July 2000, as the first single taken from their third studio album "In Blue" (2000). "Breathless" was co-written and produced by famed music producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, who produced for Shania Twain and Bryan Adams. "Breathless" is a pop and pop rock song, with lyrics about seduction and how when you're falling in love, you're just enticing that person to go one step further. It received mixed reviews from music critics; some called it sexy and a hit, but others felt it was weak. It is considered their signature hit after topping the charts around the world. The song scaled the charts all over the world, including hitting number 1 in Spain and the UK—their only British chart-topper to date. It also went top ten in Australia and No. 34 in the United States in March 2001, giving Corrs their only US Top 40 hit.

"Around the World" was originally called "Larger than Life", but was renamed after American boy band Backstreet Boys released a single with the same title in 1999. The group has described the song as a "happy-dancing song with a huge, massive choir." "Around the World" was released in May 2000, with the UK release following in December. The UK release became their lowest chart single at the time, peaking at #26. The chart position showed that their popularity had fallen and resulted in the follow-up "Bumble Bees" not being released in the UK at all. Despite this, "Around the World" managed to reach #1 in the group's native Denmark. In Norway, it made the top 20 at #16, and in Sweden, it peaked at #4 and was certified Gold. In my retrospective "Around The World" is the fourth Aqua's # 1 after "Barbie Girl", "Doctor Jones" and "My Oh My".

"When I Said Goodbye"/"Summer of Love" is a double A-side single, the tenth single released by Steps. "When I Said Goodbye" is a ballad taken from the album "Steptacular", while "Summer of Love" was a previously unavailable track. The latter is a Latino-flavoured uptempo pop song, which later appeared on their third album "Buzz". The video for "When I Said Goodbye" was a black-and-white video shot in Rome, Italy. It featured shots of the members singing solemnly. In contrast, the video for the Latin-flavoured "Summer Of Love" featured brightly coloured clothes and energetic dancing. It portrayed Steps and their dancers as "good steps" (very colourful and dressed innocently) and "bad steps" (dressed in leather, with black makeup, somewhat raunchy looking) in the end good steps chased bad steps away with their amazing dancing. "When I Said Goodbye"/"Summer of Love" peaked at #5 in UK Singles chart and got 18th position in Ireland.
October 22, 201410 yr Author My favourite Britney's song here. 26.08.2000 : Britney Spears - Lucky (9 weeks # 1) http://b.vimeocdn.com/ts/392/075/392075220_640.jpg 4vvBAONkYwI The teen pop and dance-pop song tells a story about a famous pop star named Lucky, who, despite seemingly having it all – fame, wealth, beauty – is truly lonely and unhappy on the inside. It received positive reviews from music critics, who considered its melody and rhythm as sweet and catchy, and noted the lyrics to be about Spears herself. The video begins with Spears telling a story about very famous Hollywood actress named Lucky. Lucky is seen wearing a pink nightgown behind the curtains, standing on her billboard with fluffy white cotton balls attached to the edges, inside her mansion and shots of her out on the balcony. As beautiful and rich as she is, on set she sits on the star-shape in the sky, as she is acting, she is looking quite distressed. After the first chorus, she goes to the hotel mansion to the flowers, then she leaves and sits down and gets a mirror. Next, Lucky opens the door to reveal a handsome man, who then takes her in his arms, as the director yells "Cut! We've got it". Lucky then walks off-set into the studio as grandpa's room, replying to the director: "Finally! We've done it fifty-million times!" She then goes to have her hair and makeup done; with Spears standing unnoticed and very worried looking by her side. Lucky is then seen in a shiny gray evening gown at the Academy Awards accepting her award for Best Actress. Lucky looks happy as she accepts it and smiles at her fans, Best actress, and the winner is Lucky! but is soon revealed that this is not true happiness. She makes her way away from her screaming fans and back into her limo, where she unexpectedly finds an ornate hand mirror that was used on the film set. She looks back to the crowd to see who has left it and sees Spears leaning forward in the crowd. The limo drives away, leaving Spears behind on the red carpet. The video ends with Lucky crying herself to sleep, her make-up already stained on her face. The curtains close, ending the video. Country singer Taylor Swift performed the song on her Speak Now World Tour on September 20, 2011 located in Louisiana, as a tribute to Spears. Wearing her signature lilac dress, Swift started to play the first chords of "Lucky" on her guitar. In United States "Lucky" peaked at number 23 on Billboard Hot 100 and number nine on the Top 40 Mainstream chart. "Lucky" also achieved commercial success worldwide, reaching number one in Austria, Sweden and Switzerland. "Lucky" debuted at number 5 in the Official Charts Company from the United Kingdom, falling to number six in the following week. In Australia, the song peaked at number 3 and was later certified Platinum by ARIA, for shipments of more than 70,000 units of the single. In Germany, the song reached number one on the Media Control Charts, being certified Gold for shipping over 250,000 units of the single.

"Simple Kind of Life" is a pop rock ballad written by Gwen Stefani for No Doubt's fourth album Return of Saturn (2000). The song contrasts Stefani's desire to settle down and start a family with her commitment to the band. It received positive reviews from music critics, who noted the song's somber melody and raw lyrics. "Simple Kind of Life" was released as the album's second single in June 2000. It became the most successful American single from "Return of Saturn", but didn't have the international success, include only # 69 in United Kingdom. The accompanying music video illustrates the song's themes of marriage and family. Edited October 24, 201410 yr by Outcast

The song has been covered by several singers, some versions of which have been successful in both the US and UK markets. One of the most notable versions was the pairing of Mariah Carey and boyband Westlife. Amazing cover version was released in September 2000, a few months after Carey's solo version. Carey did not re-record her vocals for the duet; however, the instrumental track was reproduced with a more organic sound complete with violins. The single was more successful than the original in the UK and Ireland where it peaked at number one, giving Westlife their sixth consecutive number one. It also gave Carey her second number 1 single in the UK. The song has sold 375,000 copies in the total in the UK. The music video shows Carey and Westlife recording the song and exploring the island of Capri by boat.

October 26, 201410 yr Author It was very long period of time between two previous nine weeks chart toppers "The Land Of Make Believe" and "Lucky", but another came very soon. "It's The Way You Make Me Feel" is a song by Steps, released as their twelfth single. It is the second track to be released from their third album "Buzz". This song debuted at #72 on the British charts in the final chart of 2000, as some record stores made the single available a week early, and it sold enough copies to reach the lower end of the chart. The following week, after it was properly released on New Year's Day 2001, the single jumped 70 spots, peaking at #2 and spent 11 weeks on the charts. The music video for the song featured the band members and supporting actors/dancers reenacting scenes from the movie "Dangerous Liaisons". Band members H and Lee took turns playing Valmont, while Claire, Faye and Lisa took interchanging turns as the characters of Merteuil, Tourvel and Cecile.
