I think for the very early charts it be virtually impossible to do. Most of them were just counter sales, I can't remember how they used to count them, there was a topic that was posted not so long ago, just need to dig deeper in the chart forum, but that would take forever. I assign Grief to take the plunge.

If I remember correctly the charts of the 50s and 60s weren't based on sales as we know them, but on a ranking order that was derived from the various participating record shops which is why figures for anything pre 1983 are a mixture of counter sales and company shipment figures skewed one way or the other depending on how historical the record was.
