Posted November 11, 201212 yr Robbie Williams - Candy stays at #1 This week truly does belong to Robbie Williams as his single Candy stays at number one for a second week ... yes a number one lasting for longer than a single week. Robbie also scores a 8th #1 studio album, meaning he is the first artist to be at #1 on both singles and albums charts since Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band in May this year. Not only is this Robbie Williams' first #1 in almost 8 years, it is his first to stay for more than a week at #1 since his 2001 dueat with Nicole Kidman Something Stupid. This now also means that Robbie has had more #1s that his bandmate Gary Barlow, who has had 3 outside of Take That and 3 when Robbie was not part of the group. Labrinth stays at #2 this week with his collaboration with Emeli Sande, Beneath Your Beautiful. The Wanted - I Found You enters at #3 UK boy band The Wanted score their 7th top 3 hit out of 9 single releases, as I Found You finds its way to #3 as the week's highest new entry. The band first formed in 2009 and released their debut single All Time Low in July 2010, when it debuted at #1. #2 hit Heart Vacancy followed, then they made #19 with 3rd single Lose My Mind. Next was a #3 hit with the 2011 Comic Relief single Gold Forever, taken from their second album Battleground. Glad You Came was the actual lead single, I'm sure they were glad as that hit #1. Then they played with Lightning to hit #2 but their Battleground could only get them to #21. Earlier this year, the band hit #2 with Chasing The Sun and now they have found a #3 hit, taken from forthcoming album Third Strike. Misha B - Do You Think Of Me enters at #9 20 year old British singer songwriter Misha Bryan makes the top 10 for the first time, as second single Do You Think Of Me enters at #9. As Misha B, she first found fame as a conestant in last year's X Factor. Since then she has been recording tracks for her album, including #11 debut hit Home Run, as well as supporting Nicki Minaj on her current tour. This now means that all of last year's top 4 X Factor conestants have at least 1 top 10 hit to their name, 8th placed Frankie Cocoza released his debut single this week but has flopped. Rita Ora - Shine Ya Light enters at #10 22 year old Rita Sahatcua Ora follows up her 3 #1 hit singles this year with a #10 entry for Shine Ya Light this week, following her X Factor performance. Earlier this year, Rita hit the top spot with her debut single RIP, featuring rapper Tinie Tempah. Then she was featured vocalist on Hot Right Now by DJ Fresh, which also hit #1 as well as her own single How We Do (Party). Debut album ORA, which also hit #1 2 weeks after How We Do, contains all 4 singles and is back up to #16 this week. Sub Focus feat Alpines - Tidal Wave enters at #12 English record producer Nick Douwma gets a new entry this week under his stage name of Sub Focus, as Tidal Wave sweeps its way into #12, giving him his biggest hit to date. Sub Focus has been releasing singles since 2003, but didn't make the top 100 until 2008 with X-Ray / Scarecrow, and making the top 40 with #38 hit Rock It / Follow The Light in 2009, followed by 2 #41 hits Could This Be Real / Triple X and Splash (featuring Coco). This year he scored a #23 hit with the Alice Gold featuring Out Of The Blue, now he features South London duo Alpines on this #12 entry Tidal Wave. Christina Aguilera - Your Body enters at #16 US pop star Christina Aguilera gets her 18th UK top 20 hit this week (22ndounting features) as Your Body enters at #16. Christina first came on the scene in 1999 with her massive #1 single Genie In A Bottle, followed by #3 hit What A Girl Wants and #19 I Turn To You then #8 Come On Over. Duet with Latino pop sensation Ricky Martin Nobody Wants To Be Lonely got to #4. Then she scored 3 chart toppers in a row - with the Moulin Rouge cover of Lady Marmalade, Dirrty and Beautiful. These were followed by a further 5 top 10 hits including Fighter and Ain't No Other Man, then 3 further top 20s - Hurt (#11), Candyman (#17) and Keeps Getting Better (#14). After a 2 year break, in 2010 she made #12 with Not Myself Tonight but further singles from the Bionic album flopped. Last seen as a featured vocalist on Maroon 5's million selling Moves Like Jagger, Christina is back at #16 with Your Body. 5th studio album Lotus is due out this week ... a 3rd #1? Willy Moon - Yeah Yeah enters at #34 New Zealand singer and producer Willy Moon gets his UK top 40 debut this week at #34 with his debut top 40 single entitled Yeah Yeah. In 2010, Willy made his first track I Wanna Be Your Man available on YouTube and has since gathered a decent online following. He has since released the singles She Loves Me and Railroad Tracks, which did not chart. The track Yeah Yeah is featured in the current Apple iPod TV advert, has been playlisted by Radio 1 and has been reduced to 59p in iTunes. Robbie Williams takes the album crown As previously mentioned, Robbie Williams does the double this week as his 9th studio album goes stright to the top, only his last Reality Killed The Video Star missed #1 (it made #2). Dutch violinist and composer Andre Rieu with the John Strauss Orchestra enter at #2 with Magic At The Movies. This is ahead of JLS with their 4th album Evolution which evolves into a #3 entry, following up 2 #1 albums (one of which beat Robbie Williams) and a #2. Military Wives have a second top 5 album Stronger Together, which debuts at #5, following up the chart topping In My Dreams from earlier this year. Italian tennor singer Andrea Bocelli gets another top 10 album with the very self descriptive Opera. Former Radio 1 presenter Chris Moyles finds his "difficult second album" in at #13, actually an improvement on his first album which made #17! Other new entries this week come from rock band Aerosmith, Neyo and Kristina Train. Opinion I am happy to see Robbie get a second week at #1, not liking off these one week number ones we've been getting for the last few years. I love The Wanted's I Found You, even with the falsetto vocals and its likeness to Glad You Came. Love Misha B's second single, much better than the rubbish Home Run that's for sure. Rita Ora's new one is pretty good, way better than her last How We Do. Sub Focus is ok but nothing special, Christina's new one is ok but she's capable of far far better - Fighter and Beautiful for starters. I quite like the Willy Moon track and the Gabrielle Aplin cover, dont' like Sneakbo's one at all though. Glad to finally see Pink make the top 40 with Try, it deserves much much better.
