Posted November 13, 201212 yr It's safe to class her as indie now. Kate has launched a campaign to release her new album through Pledge Music and her own label 'have 10p'. http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/katenash The new ep 'Death Proof' is out Nov 19th digitally and on 7" when it's ready apparently. http://assets.pledgemusic.com/incentives/000/050/144/icons/regular.jpg The new album 'Girl Talk' is out early 2013 on CD/12". http://assets.pledgemusic.com/incentives/000/050/549/icons/regular.jpg THE VIDEOS: Death Proof WgAqhjAkoxo Fri-end? November 13, 201212 yr Very exciting. Hopefully she hasn't kept up some of the strange stuff like on 'My Best Friend is You' and has gone back to her 'Made Of Bricks' roots.
November 13, 201212 yr Author Very exciting. Hopefully she hasn't kept up some of the strange stuff like on 'My Best Friend is You' and has gone back to her 'Made Of Bricks' roots. That won't happen, unfortunately. She made a lengthy blog post in the past about how people always want her to make a Made of Bricks Part II but she'd never do it because she likes to try new stuff out all the time and artists change etc. Plus, I think she's too much of a punk feminist now to go back.
November 13, 201212 yr Author The EP will include Fri-end? and the title track Death Proof by the way. I wonder how many songs it will have, can a 7" have more than 2 tracks?
November 13, 201212 yr I'm really interested to hear this. I'm hoping it's not too much like Fri-end (as much as I liked it). Gonna pledge nonetheless.
November 13, 201212 yr This pledge thing... I don't get it. The artist basically has to offer themselves to sell vast quantities of their music.
November 13, 201212 yr Author This pledge thing... I don't get it. The artist basically has to offer themselves to sell vast quantities of their music. It's quite simple really. Projects are launched to help in recording/producing/manufacturing/marketing an album by offering exclusive goodies along with the album itself and when the goal is reached, it means the project is successful and the items have to be released within the deadline (in this case it's March 2013). The amount of CDs produced is totally up to the artist I guess, but I think they're still available on the site even after the release. In Kate's case the project has no money goal because Girl Talk is already finished and they only have to manufacture the CD/Vinyls.
November 13, 201212 yr Author But can it chart or anything? I suppose it can. It's like ordering your copy from an online store.
November 13, 201212 yr Janet Devlin's also going to release her album through Pledge Music, and its worked out very successfully for her so far! She's already at 38% of her target in just 2 weeks, so it looks like a good way for Kate to release her album too.
November 15, 201212 yr Author Janet Devlin's also going to release her album through Pledge Music, and its worked out very successfully for her so far! She's already at 38% of her target in just 2 weeks, so it looks like a good way for Kate to release her album too. Janet's album must cost a lot to make considering she's only at 38% with 750 whole pledges! The Rasmus are also releasing their new live DVD through pledgemusic.
November 17, 201212 yr Author Deathproof tracks are now available on her pledgemusic page and will be released on Monday 01. Death Proof 02. Fri-end? 03. I Want a Boyfriend 04. All Day and All of the Night 05. May Queen http://www.amazon.co.uk/Death-Proof-EP/dp/B00A6YFYWE Previews are OK, I'll give it time to grow on me when I hear it in full. November 21, 201212 yr It's a lot better than I expected but it's still absolutely NOWHERE near Made of Bricks or My Best Friend Is You. It's a nice listen but she seems to shout half of each song...
November 21, 201212 yr Author I like the first half of the album - literally. First 2 songs and a half. Rest is okay.
