Today is the 29th Anniversary of the day the world lost Elvis Presley and, although it’s a sad day in the Elvis calendar, it’s a day when we celebrate his life and be grateful for the musical legacy he left us all. His life was a remarkable achievement, from such humble beginnings, his birth in a shack in Tupelo to becoming a Superstar admired by millions the world over!

 

He walked into Sun Studios in the summer of 1953 with his guitar to make an acetate record, ‘My Happiness’ and ‘That’s When Your Heartaches Begin’, but it was to be a year before he recorded ‘That’s All Right’ with Scotty Moore and Bill Black. And the rest is history!!

 

It’s so easy for people to dismiss Elvis, but the fact is, Elvis shook up the music scene and influenced so many music stars who have followed. As John Lennon famously put it ‘’ Before Elvis, there was nothing’’

“It’s rare when an artist’s talent can touch an entire generation of people. It’s even rarer when that same influence affects several generations. Elvis made an imprint on the world of pop music unequaled by any other single performer.â€
