However it has a massively long chart run to make up for the low peak. Anyway, onto the song itself. Calvin had just released "Bounce" and "Feel So Close" and his production "We Found Love" was doing massive things on the chart. And then we finally got another single from Mr. Harris! The song is a standard energetic dancey feel-good tune! It features the vocals of Ne-Yo, who impressed me last year when he featured on Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" and impressed me yet again on this song. All of this buildup surely was going to lead to a great solo single... and yes that solo single is still to come in the chart. Calvin also has another solo single left in the chart. You can find out what they are very soon, right here in this thread. :D Edited December 29, 201212 yr by Thermochristmas
December 29, 201212 yr Author 33 - Loreen "Euphoria" UK - #3 PC Run - (12-5-1-3-8-10-17-40-40-43-x-7-x) (11 weeks) http://www.eurovisionary.com/files/images/euphoria-loreen.preview.jpg Loreen 01 Euphoria 04 My Heart Is Refusing Me The winner of this year's Eurovision appears at #33. The yearly event never fails to bring up crap songs and eurocheese, but this year came with an exception. This song sounded very 2012 and I got right behind it, so did the UK when it won - climbing all the way to #1 on iTunes and #3 officially. Loreen's vocals suit the dance production very well, and whilst she doesn't deserve the massive overhyping that Buzzjack has given her, she does deserve for this song to be sucessful as it's very good. I am looking forward to seeing her open the show in 2013 when Eurovision is hosted in her home country Sweden. Sweden is also home to many great EDM producers such as Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Otto Knows - clearly the dance scene there has affected the entry - making it better than any other in Eurovision ever.

On this song we have Florence, without her Machine. The pair meet again later in the countdown. This song is made great with Calvin's beats and even better with the vocals of Florence. It may be recent but for me it is better than "Let's Go" and "We'll Be Coming Back" thanks to the choice of THAT SYNTH in the drop and the choice of vocalist. If Florence did more dance songs I would love them but unfortunately most of her songs have indie production and sound boring to me.

With many quotable lines such as "ball so hard muthafukkas wanna fine me, DAT SH!T CRAY" and "got my niggazz in Paris, and they goin' gorillaz". Just yesterday the iTunes thread had many of these lines in celebration of the song getting a boost on iTunes. So yeah, the addictive beat and great lyrics are good enough to make this song - but in the middle of the song we get a DUBSTEP BREAKDOWN *.* and it's not a popstep breakdown like you'd find in the latest Swifty single, it's some proper dubstep - the structure of this song is not normal for a massive song and for that I congratulate Mr. West and Mr. Z! Xtina came back with a floppy single and album a year after MLJ. Maroon 5 were quicker to the follow-up and came up with this. It's a very nice catchy song helped by a rap from Wiz Khalifa - who was in my EOY chart three times last year. There is a lot of hate for Payphone on the forums but I am riding the love train. Unfortunately I do not like their new single "One More Night" but that's a different story.

Rapping over an underground dance beat, Azealia has a great flow and manages to get many quotable lines in. This song is the only in my chart that uses the word "c**t" so well done Ms. Banks! Hopefully we see more of her in 2013, but if she turns out to be a one-hit wonder then that's fine too because she's left us with an amazing song that many other pop bitches could never do in their career. January 1, 201312 yr Author 28 - Madeon "Icarus" UK - #23 PC Run - (20-35-24-37-2-4-6-3-2-7-7-8-21-21-33-x) (15 weeks) http://www.beatmyday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Madeon-Icarus.jpg Madeon 02 Icarus 04 Finale 12 The Night Out French teenage DJ Madeon couldn't have had a better debut single. This instrumental track opens up with crashing synths in what could be described as the best intro in dance music of the whole year. And it doesn't end there, a minute into the song the beat drops with some Wolfgang Gartner style synths. Later in the song we hear the synths from the intro and the beat from the drop come together - what's not to love in this perfect dance song! Oh and did you know he's only 18! And he's French! I think we've found ourselves the next David Guetta.
January 1, 201312 yr Author 27 - Rudimental feat. Rudimental surprised everyone including me when it went to #1 on iTunes and officially. But this was no non-#1 as it went on to become one of the defining songs of the summer. Helped by the lovely vocals of John Newman, the simple but effective and catchy lyrics and the trumpet section - this song fully deserved all the success it got. Unfortunately the follow-up wasn't as good - only making #26 on my chart. Coincidentally Feel The Love entered my chart at #26 too, but peaked at #3.
January 1, 201312 yr Author 26 - Alexandra Burke feat. It should've been a massive chart hit but instead radio blacklisted it and, despite the #3 peak which is a great achievement in any case - the song dropped off the charts never to be seen again a few weeks later. Her follow up could only make #33 in the UK, and #25 in my chart. With a song as great as this, Burke should never have become an irrelevant flop that the whole of Buzzjack laughs at. But the UK radio stations thought differently. However, Alex's flop wasn't the biggest flop of this countdown. A certain maneater will be appearing in the chart soon. January 2, 201312 yr Author It's now time for the best 25 singles of 2012. We start off with... 25 - Skrillex feat. Sirah "Bangarang" UK - #24 PC Run - (5-22-17-36-44-44-x-30-34-49-x-36-33-24-21-24-25-25-23-32-13-37-43-48-x) (22 weeks) http://rollingstoneindia.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Skrillex-Bangarang.jpeg Skrillex 04 Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites 04 Summit 04 Breakn' A Sweat 05 Bangarang 07 Holdin' On (Skrillex & Nero Remix) 12 Kill Everybody (Bare Noize Remix) 20 Make It Bun Dem 28 Kyoto 43 Ruffneck (FULL Flex) Sirah 05 Bangarang 16 Survival 28 Kyoto My favourite dubstep song of the year, "Bangarang" by Skrillex featuring rapping by Sirah. I tipped Skrillex to be one of the biggest artists of the year in my chart - and he hasn't done too badly for himself, getting 5 top 20 smashes in 2012 in the form of "Summit", "Breakn' A Sweat", "Holdin' On", "Make It Bun Dem" and the title track of his EP "Bangarang". However, the standout for me was Bangarang. Featuring a drop never seen in mainstream dubstep before and the "I don't give a f**k" attitude of Sirah, this is a very love-hate track and clearly I am on the love side! Here's to another great year for Skrillz in 2013 :hic:
January 2, 201312 yr Author 24 - Nicki Minaj "Pound the Alarm" UK - #8 PC Run - (37-10-7-9-9-18-9-24-30-35-35-26-44-x) (13 weeks) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/1a/Nicki_Minaj_Pound_The_Alarm.jpg/220px-Nicki_Minaj_Pound_The_Alarm.jpg Nicki Minaj 01 Starships 01 Girl On Fire 01 Check It Out 03 Give Me All Your Luvin' 04 Turn Me On 04 Freedom 05 Va Va Voom 07 Pound The Alarm 09 Dance (A$$) 11 Girls Fall Like Dominoes 14 The Boys 22 Bottoms Up 22 Fly 23 Where Them Girls At 29 Make Me Proud 32 2012 (It Ain't The End) 33 Moment 4 Life 45 Stupid Hoe A nice summery song and the first top 40 entry for Nicki Minaj lands at #24. "Pound The Alarm" may be criticized for sounding a lot like her other massive hit of 2012 but for me it is a great song in it's own right. Nicki literally pounds the alarm in the song, with the drop having a club dance beat and an alarming synth. Ms Minaj probably wakes up to the sound of that  The song is also parodied well in the youtube series The Nekci Menij Show. If you haven't seen it already, go check it out.
January 2, 201312 yr Author 23 - Rita Ora "How We Do (Party)" UK - #1 PC Run - (30-49-x-13-19-17-10-7-10-7-10-19-27-34) (13 weeks) http://cdn.rap-up.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/rita-ora-how-we-do.jpg Rita Ora 05 Hot Right Now 07 How We Do (Party) 11 R.I.P. 15 Shine Ya Light R.I.P. was a great debut single and I have already reviewed it, but Senorita Ora impressed me further with this single - proving herself that she can make a Katy Perry song better than she can herself. My favourite part of the song has to be the hook "party and bullsh*t" but overall it is a great slice of pure pop and it's a lot of fun. Rita hate will not happen in this thread :nono: She has one more entry in this countdown.
January 2, 201312 yr Author 22 - Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso "Calling" UK - #19 (vocal mix) PC Run - (27-33-29-21-8-6-15-20-21-30-38-x-50-x-42-23-27-46-46-49-38-30-30-29-44-41-45-x-38-42-48-x) (28 weeks) http://freshnewtracks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Sebastian-Ingrosso-Alesso-Calling-628x628-500x500.jpg Sebastian Ingrosso 06 Calling 24 Reload Alesso 06 Calling 13 Years 24 Clash Spending a mammoth 28 weeks in the chart, it is one of the longest runners of the year. I first discovered it on Ministry of Sound compilation album "The Annual 2012" and it was an instant highlight. The entry into BJSC and its UK release kept my love for this song going and it was also a festival anthem - Ingrosso's friend and bandmate Steve Angello dropped it at his set at South West Four - a festival in London, and it got everyone jumpin'! It is a shame that Ryan from One Republic was needed to make this a minor hit but at least this fabulous song was noticed.

DJ Fresh must be used to just missing out in my chart now, his previous highest finishes on my EOY chart were "Gold Dust", #76 in 2010 and "Louder", #41 in 2011. Fortunately for Fresh - this is his first year where he has more than one entry - this being his third. Anyway, onto the song. This proved to us that DJ Fresh was here to stay and not a one-hit wonder. It is a brilliant drum n' bass song that always gets the party going especially when the volume is up real high. Rita Ora should be thanking Mr. Fresh as this was the song that kickstarted her career in the UK and in my charts. Ce'Cile, RaVaughn and Sian Evans must have their heads in their hands right now as the DJ Fresh collab never did them any good.

January 2, 201312 yr You must be the biggest dance loon on the site by the looks of the chart!. Ew at the likes of LMFAO, Tulisa and Rita Ora for being here but apart from that, superb! (In reality, I'm here and waiting for you know what to come up :D)
January 2, 201312 yr Author You must be the biggest dance loon on the site by the looks of the chart!. Ew at the likes of LMFAO, Tulisa and Rita Ora for being here but apart from that, superb! (In reality, I'm here and waiting for you know what to come up :D) Of course, dance music is amazing - I don't like to be bored by music, so energetic beats is perfect for me! I'll be coming for that Most Pathetic Loon award for my love of EDM :smoke: That's if you don't win it for looning K-pop :P Oh well, I can't impress everyone ^_^ Obviously I think they're all great  Yes - Gangnam Style will be charting but the real question is where? :o With 18 consecutive weeks in my top 10, it could be high!

This is the 2nd year in a row that Ne-Yo has appeared in the EOY top 20 - but this time he doesn't need the help of Pitbull as he shows us that he can make a brilliant song by himself. His last comeback single, Beautiful Monster, was a disappointment but this wasn't - you can't argue that it's original and not generic but the dance breakdown is amazing and of course helped by the wonderful voice that Ne-Yo has! This is probably now my favourite Ne-Yo song, beating "Closer" - an amazing achievement for an artist to release their best song this far into their career. Ne-Yo has proved many times that he is here to stay and with tunes like this, he can stay as long as he likes! Edited January 3, 201312 yr by 2013 Thermometer
