Posted December 2, 201212 yr From Daily Star today: ITV bosses reckon Gary Barlow will be the perfect New Year hangover cure – giving him his own 75-minute TV special. The X Factor judge has got the green light for a primetime slot on New Year’s Day, when I’m guessing most viewers will be too ill to do much else. Cameras will film his solo tour date in Manchester at the O2 Apollo on Thursday for the one-off show. And my snitch tells me Peter Kay, JLS and his X Factor pal Nicole Scherzinger will all be joining him on stage. Not bad if you booked tickets to the gig only expecting Barlow to pop up. A show source told me: “Gary has got more fans than ever because of X Factor so ITV know millions will want to watch this. “He’s also pulled strings to get loads of big names to join him. Getting a slot on New Year’s Day means ITV have a lot of confidence in him.” Fans will also get to see backstage footage on the show, currently titled Gary Barlow and Friends. And there’s good news for Take That fans – Mark Owen is also planning to make an appearance. Edited February 24, 201312 yr by ThePensmith
December 2, 201212 yr I will 100% be tuning in to see this, just a shame he hasnt a relevant solo album available to get a sales boost from it, hopefully Take That albums will get a boost from it though.
December 2, 201212 yr It would be nice if twelve months could get a new peak! Or if open road and it's singles could grab a few sales
December 3, 201212 yr I would doubt there is too many copies of 12 months 11 days knocking around and probably not enough to get it into the top 40. How i would so so so love to be wrong but i cant see Gary's solo album benefiting in sales from this but i would be so so happy to be proved very very wrong.
December 3, 201212 yr It is crazy in a sense, a sold out tour and now a TV show yet no album to promote or even a single. Logic would say he should have something to promote even if it was a solo best of. I can't quiet figure out where a sales boost will come from for such performances. It is quiet a shame really as he could have got an x factor performance in as well for promotion had he anything to promote to the public.
December 3, 201212 yr Yeah but whether it's solo or TT Gary will make money. I wish he had a proper solo album coming out but at the minute we are going to have to make do. He should still sing Open Road, Forever Love and Lie to me though. It's quite sad really that Gary only seems to like those three songs out of all his solo marerial
December 3, 201212 yr Lie to me is his one track that deserved to be huge. Does anyone know if all his solo work is available on download stores such as iTunes. If so, and he does perform lie to me on the New Years special the best possible outcome would be for Lie to Me to chart. It is criminal how so many Take That fans don't know how great this song is and how it deserves to be a hit.
December 3, 201212 yr Author I LOVE 'Lie to Me' so if it could finally chart all these years after it was cancelled as a single that'd be brilliant.
December 3, 201212 yr It's one of my favourites by a mile! It's available on iTunes but if he does it then it will most likely be part of a piano medley. If we see Open Road and Forever Love back in the charts then that will be fantastic!
December 4, 201212 yr I cant see the singles making a return unless the show gets big ratings and one song gets a massive style performance that makes it completely stand out. If Lie to me was given that opportunity i do believe it could so something for the song and help it makes its itunes debut at the least.
December 4, 201212 yr It should do well on ITV as 1 it's Gary and 2 it's New Year's Day so people will be staying at home recovering from the day before
December 6, 201212 yr Indeed ratings should be strong for the show with its timing. I am looking forward to it too, and i am intrigued to see the set list.
December 16, 201212 yr I saw the Michael Buble show on itv last night and Gary done a duet of home with him. Again we are getting plenty of Gary but the fans really have nothing to purchase on the back of the performances, if only he did a new solo album all the promotion he has would have helped him net sales.
December 19, 201212 yr Yeah wish he had something to promote other than the X factor and the solo tours (which will always sell out let's face it) I'd loved him to drop the prices of open road and 12 months on iTunes for this Gary itv concert, possibly even making forever love, open road and lie to me 59p to help them drum up sales and positions. It's not as if Gary needs the money but by dropping the prices people who watch the show might have a browse through his back catalogue and be tempted to see what it is all about if it was there for a couple of pound Edited December 19, 201212 yr by jay727
December 19, 201212 yr A price drop would bring more awareness to the songs for the itunes users, it is something may could happen when the concert airs.
December 19, 201212 yr I would love it if it did!! To see 12 months boosted to a top 10 would be amazing, but since the only track he does from it is a snippet of lie to me in the medley I wouldn't be sure that alone would boost it. If he is ever going to get a boost for his solo stuff now is the time.
December 19, 201212 yr 12 months 11 days will never see the top 10, and to be honest a top 100 re-entry would be the absolute maximum that could happen to it as i would doubt there is even enough copies around to get it any higher and i dont think people would buy it. I adore the album but have accepted it will forever remain a huge flop.
