I can only agree here. Its beyond realistic to think 12 months 11 Days could ever become a top 10 album at this stage. It certainly doesnt help when Gary himself more or less says it is not a good album and one he is not happy with. Maybe i am totally wrong but outside of Take That material getting a possible boost the best outcome relating to solo Gary Barlow is 1 of his old songs makes the itunes top 100. Sing may get a little boost though as its pretty recent.

:( such a shame if that's the case, problem is that sales are high at the moment, 70k for a top 10 at the moment, he could have easily gone platinum if he had a new album out now with the Christmas effect

A new album would have sold well this year for Gary. If Gary had released an album mid/end November he would have another platinum selling album to his name as we speak.

Yes that may have well been the case but sadly there wasnt a new album. Thats a shame as with all his appearncea and performances etc i have to agree he would have benefited nicely in the sales department. I do wonder is there any plans in line for a new album Gary album though, its all all these performances etc are teasers and testers.

Well that was a huge disappointment, not one single solo song at all, everything was Take That material with the exception of the Peter Kay stuff. So much for hoping some of his solo songs would get even a tiny sales lift. Gary must really want to forget he ever recorded 2 solo albums. I dont know, what was performed was performed well but i found it all a bit pointless, why couldnt it have been a Take That special when it was all Take That songs.
I agree I'm very disappointed, could have at least done a medley of solo songs. He sung them very well but when you see Gary Barlow and Friends you don't expect Take That and friends
True, i just get what the whole point of it was. And surely there had to have been fans there who would have expected some solo material, even as you said even a medley of solo work, for some reason i had myself convinced he would do a medley and lie to me would be in it, i was so so disappointed that didnt happen, looks like only a few fans like for myself for example love his solo work as i dont think gary even does himself.
What happened was that the solo set list was the same as every other date but songs such as Peter Kay and Relight were added for itv and the rest was cut including the solo parts from the broadcast show. If you YouTube Gary Barlow apollo December 6 you see him doing the lie to me medley with forever love and all the others, just a shame it wasn't left in for the wider public to hear
Ya i knew the clips were available but an on screen tv viewing would have been so much better and again would have showed such great songs off to a far wider audience. I suspect Rule the world will get a nice boost (always welcomed by me) in the charts and most likely the ultimate collection by Take That will benefit fro the show.
Yeah but they always get boosts, at least Sing is back in the top 100 but I don't know where this leaves Gary and his solo material career

Have you seen this?

Former ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog is getting Gary Barlow to help relaunch her career, with him reportedly recording a duet with her.

The blonde Swede is working on her first original material in 25 years and the Take That singer and songwriter has reportedly written two tracks which will appear on her album. One is said to be a duet, which is already being tipped as a hit.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Gary is one of the UK's most successful songwriters so it makes sense for Agnetha to call in the big guns. It's a great mix of old and new together in one duet."

Gary, 41, recently said he had met the 62-year-old star when he was in Sweden. It is thought they were introduced by mutual friend Jorgen Elofsson, a songwriter who has written tracks for Britney Spears, Westlife and Kelly Clarkson and who is also helping Agnetha with her comeback.

This could be interesting, we will have to wait and see what happens. I would prefer to hear some Take That news though, i really hope we 100% get a new album this year.

Yeah we definitely will, Gary has already said that they are going into the studio in February for a Christmas album summer 14 tour as usual.

Wonder what the TV ratings will be...im hopeful for 6 million+

I would say it will b somewhere between 5 and 7 million. Rule the world is already climbing so it has had an affect.
4.5 million people tuned in, including HD, but I would imagine that the Iplayer/ catch up services have or will eventually bring it up to 5

Could have been better but it is not bad either. The ratings dont bother me now as much, if it had been him showcasing solo material i would have hoped for higher ratings but as it wasnt im not overly bothered as in terms of sales there was nothing to get any major boost from the show.

I missed this as over the holiday I've been watching back-to-back episodes of Law & Order ... but I have been curious enough to look up (in bits) on youtube.

I've so far only seen RMF - which was vocally OK by Gary - but sorry - unless this song is sung with ALL the guys and with all the theatricals - it just seems hollow. As I say - the vocals were good though (even Nicole - was surprised at that!)

I can understand (from a TV production point of view) why they only screened the Take That songs (sorry - but apart from them - how many of Gary's songs are memorable to the general public).

And ... it would have been nice if Jason and Howard had have been involved (maybe they had other engagements - but it just looked like some people thought they weren't necessary - maybe they weren't).

Ya, with mark taking part it would have been nice if jason and howard did, but i would suspect they had other engagements, as to my knowledge i think gary is closest to howard out of them all. Yes Kath i agree with your point on a tv production point of view but i think if thats what they were worried about they should have got take that on board. For a show called an evening with gary barlow fans such as myself would expect one solo gary song at the least.
Between been away on holidays and returning to a broken internet i finally get to make by return. I watched the show and it was highly enjoyable but i have to admit that the solo music been totally left out was so disappointing. I would agree that the name of the show suggested we would hear and see some solo material performed but sadly it didnt materialise.
