Don't think I have ever removed a song from the UP playlist as fast as Lindstrøm, very amazed it went ahead and won. It is nice to see a winner that really splits the audience though.

Pfft at number of voters taking precedence over number of 20s. Claiming moral 8th-place victory.

20-9 so far. Woo etc.

I have a 32 - 20 - 2 - 21. Something is telling me last contest was a bit of a fluke.

( 1 - 4 - 2 - 17 - 1 - 14 - 5 - 7 ) 15 - 21 - 5 - 1 - 18 - 11 - 5 - 18 - 12 - 1 - 3

NOT BAD.

We still need a full list of the winners since UPI.I... I think it went something like:

01 Goose 'Black Gloves'

02 Stars '??'

03 Alex Gopher 'Brain Leech'

04 Digitalism 'Pogo'

05 PNAU 'Embrace'

06 ??

07 ??

08 ??

Your (imaginary) ChCorWhatever finishes are IRRELEVANT here.

HUSH. You and Arrs had your own Russian version beforehand also. If I recall correctly, your run was 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2

Plus it's Ryan who's been the most consistent since day one... his run is something ridiculous like 2 - 1 - 3 - 1 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 9 - 7 or SOMETHING.

( 1 - 4 - 2 - 17 - 1 - 14 - 5 - 7 ) 15 - 21 - 5 - 1 - 18 - 11 - 5 - 18 - 12 - 1 - 3

Judging from my iTunes if Stars did win it will probably have been with 'Going Going Gone'.

Didn't Stars also win OUR (i.e. the ONLY) UP series? :o

If we lost scoreboards to Buzzjack's editions of BJSC and UP, I think I'd cry.

It's not even as if I'm ever going to look at them again, it's just that I'm a hoarder.

A scan through the sub-forum suggests thus:

2.1 The Naked and Famous 'Young Blood'

2.2 Stars 'Fixed'

2.3 Pictureplane 'Goth Star'

2.4 Strange Talk 'Climbing Walls'

2.5 Lia Ices 'Daphne'

2.6 Karl X Johan 'Flames'

2.7 Purity Ring 'Belispeak'

2.8 VNV Nation 'Nova (Shine a Light)'

2.9 Asbjørn 'The Criminal'

2.10 S O H N 'Oscillate'

2.11 Lindstrøm 'Vōs-Sākō-Rv'

So yes, Stars need to win BJSC now to join Pavel, Freeze, Hits and I in the club.

The ø crew!

11 Bastille

27 Post War Years

23 Cultfever (still HOW?)

26 Spirit Spine

02 Bear In Heaven

movin on up but HOPING this isn't just a fluke ehh. came across a bit of a beaut during these results so may send that next time as it was clearly a SIGN. roll onnnn

^^ still sorry

013 TEETH 'See Spaces'

022 VON SUDENFED 'Fledermaus Can't Get It'

006 MMOTHS / KEEP SHELLY IN ATHENS 'Heart'

all over the shop but alternative ain't rly my field!!

Catching up, these are the best results for some time in this. Pleased my song got almost 100 points after I've flopped completely the last couple of times, and that it beat Johnny Lazer which is possibly the worst song ever entered. Excellent that my top 3 discoveries (and 3 of the 4 (5 if you include my own) great songs) each finished in the top 6, and that I voted for 5 of the top 6. Therefore glad Bear in Heaven fell at the end as it was the only one I didn't vote for.

Yep, I'm really not sure what Freeze was thinking when he entered this. I know it's horrid to put genre restrictions on and that's why we don't, but it's implied that something vaguely alternative or just different should be sent, rather than generic synth-pop. It's not as if it's particularly restrictive since Alt is rather expansive and can include basically anything BUT Freeze's entry - I'd also say Hip-Hop or Metal would be in the spirit of the contest since it's against the reasonably dominant BJ norm but because no-one who participates in this seems to be hugely keen on those genres, we don't see many/any entries.

In fairness to Freeze, it was his second choice and while I didn't think the song was up to much, at all (second-worst in the contest for me), it did stand out, although I did expect a complete shunning of it by almost everyone and was surprised it did so well in the end - so clearly that sort of thing has SOME fans here otherwise it would have completely bombed.

Also, Excel:

Oh. It seems my recent few entries all have garnered some heated attention one way or the other. Yes, I was very unsure on what to send after my first choice of artist got taken, and I honestly didn't think 'Living it up' would be such a terribly misplaced entry in this. I hope it didn't create too much spirit of fluster and dissapoint as that was never my intention. I just hoped someone really liked my entry, and realistically speaking (13 votes is more than most entries got and just as much as the winner!) someone did and I did ended up at 17th place! So I'm happy for that at least, but I've done quite well in this competition overall so I am going to try harder next time, promise!
