Posted August 16, 200618 yr From Undercover Damon Albarn To Play First Gig With New Band by Daniel Zugna August 16 2006 Damon Albarn has announced that his new project - The Good, The Bad and The Queen - will make their debut performance in London on October 26. The ever-busy Albarn announced the new project in July, though he began working on it in 2002. It features The Clash bassist Paul Simonon, The Verve guitarist and keyboardist Simon Tong and Tony Allen, who has collaborated with the late African performer Fela Kuti. The performance will be at The Roundhouse as part of the BBC Electric Proms season. Says Albarn, "The Good The Bad and The Queen, it's... it's a story, it's not a band. I'm very very proud of this record and I think it's worth while putting it out. It's a very English record, it's the first time I've really written about home, since sort of 'Parklife'. I've always wanted to play the Roundhouse. You know, I love the idea that you have to be something that hasn't been heard before." The Electric Proms series is a full multimedia event, featuring workshops and intimate performances. It will also feature The Who's performance of their new mini rock-opera 'Wire & Glass'. The Good, The Bad and The Queen's debut record, produced by Danger Mouse, will be released in 2007. LifeLight
