December 9, 201212 yr Author First off, here is a small list of albums that weren't quite good enough to make my top 40, highlight in brackets: Alexandra Burke - Heartbreak On Hold (Let It Go) BoA - Only One (Hope) Kellie Pickler - 100 Proof (Tough) Koda Kumi - Japonesque (KO-SO-KO-SO) Regina Spektor - What We Saw From The Cheap Seats (All The Rowboats) Rita Ora - ORA (Radioactive) Ronya - The Key Is The Key (Hyperventilating) Sarah De Bono - No Shame (Listen) Shy'm - Cameleon (Et alors !)
December 9, 201212 yr I never listened to Heartbreak on Hold but glad to see the amazing Let it Go getting some recognition. Also glad to see an ASS getting recognition too.
December 9, 201212 yr Author I never listened to Heartbreak on Hold but glad to see the amazing Let it Go getting some recognition. Also glad to see an ASS getting recognition too. It's not worth it tbh  Well it's not THAT bad but Fire and This Love Will Survive are real stinkers! And yes Joe Hart deserves the recognition <3 That guy has weird looking feet. Why did my album not make the top 40? :( Joe Hart is perfect head to toe. You lost out to Alanis unforch :smoke:

Unsurprisingly given this is me, only two of them are by male vocalists. Britain are responsible for 8 of the albums, America are responsible for 6 and Australia, Trinidad, Barbados, Canada, Germany and Sweden are responsible for 1 each.

December 10, 201212 yr  @ channel ORANGE and kin and MAJORLY agree with the highlights of these albums too (Pyramids, Bad Religion, play etc etc). Edited December 10, 201212 yr by HausofKubrick
December 12, 201212 yr Hi Liam! Santigold Not a big fan of the new album. In fact I don't think I even managed to get all the way through it! Such a disappointment after her bloody good debut! fun. Adore this album! Will definitely feature somewhere in my top 10 I think. Frank Ocean Great album! I prefer his 'Nostalgia, Ultra' EP though. But this does have some (very) good stuff on it! Madonna I'm very neutral when it comes to Madge! I downloaded this album, but never got round to listening to it. Actually I started it (like 3 tracks) but nothing was keeping me interested... Paloma Faith Not heard her debut as the only song I "liked" (and unlike 'Picking Up the Pieces', I did only "like") 'New York'. The rest of her singles were terrible and didn't think I'd bother listening to it. But on the strength of PUTP, I downloaded this album and it's a very pleasant surprise! P!nk Such a comedown from her last two albums! It's so, average and fillery (bar about 4 great songs). The tracks aren't "bad" but they're not really anything to write home about, bar 'Try', 'Just Give Me A Reason', 'Is This Thing On?', 'The Great Escape' and 'Run'. Azealia Banks A very good EP. Not quite as "life changing" as majority of Buzzjack seem to think it is, but it's good, nonetheless. My favourite track is 'Jumanji'! Some nice albums so far! :D
December 13, 201212 yr Author 20 Mandy Capristo - Grace (average 7.73) http://www.bbradio.de/radio/musik/cd-check/2012/04/mandy-capristo/mandy-capristo-grace-cover.jpg Chart run: (8-9-xx-3-4-3-6-9-xx-1-3-2-4-5-8) UK peak: not released (#8 in Germany) Top 5: 01 Hurricane 02 Closer 03 The Way I Like It 04 Sing 05 Overrated German girlband Monrose were a force in Germany, and having created on their version of Popstars you could call them the German Girls Aloud. And so when they split in 2011, it was a shock and a sad moment for pop fans, but with a girlband split usually comes great solo material right? And so it seems fitting the German Cheryl Cole (hmmm, she has a better voice than her by far though but you get the point) gives us this collection of assured pop songs. With electro-pop like The Way I Like It, Mandy shows her fun and flirty side, but it's the epic midtempo Hurricane that steals the show with it's epic chorus. Whilst not a million miles from her material with Monrose, Grace does a great job of asserting Mandy as a viable solo artist. 19 Cheryl - A Million Lights (average 7.92) http://oneofthoseipodsdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/a-million-lights.jpg Chart run: (1-4-6-6-8-9-xx-4-6-8-7-9-10) UK peak: #2 Top 5: 01 Call My Name 02 Screw You 03 Under The Sun 04 Mechanics Of The Heart 05 A Million Lights And now from Germany's answer to Cheryl Cole to the actual Cheryl Cole! Despite all the criticism around her voice, Cheryl knows how to make a damn good pop album, and this is no exception. Sure, it's a step down from 3 Words and Messy Little Raindrops but Cheryl gets it right again. First single Call My Name, an upliftng dance-pop track, and that was followed by the breezy R&B cut Under The Sun. The album also sees tender moments like Telescope, as well as a ballsy middle finger to an ex in Screw You, a Wretch32 collab. Having worked with names such as Calvin Harris and Lana Del Rey, it may be those behind the scenes who really made Cheryl shine again but this is definitely worth a listen for pop fans. December 14, 201212 yr Author 18 Imagine Dragons - Night Visions (average 7.95) http://www.rock104.com/rockblog/files/2012/09/Imagine-Dragons-Night-Visions-560x492.jpg Chart run: (10-xx-9-8-xx-1-1)*still charting* UK peak: TBA (released Feb 18th, #2 in US) Top 5: 01 Radioactive 02 It's Time 03 Bleeding Out 04 Demons 05 Top Of The World ANOTHER male alternative band in my albums top 40? :o Yes, your eyes do not deceive you! Imagine Dragons have exploded onto the scene in the past year or so, It's Time has been used many times in media and covered in Glee, and recently they've hit me as a brilliant band. On the surface they may seem to be yet another random 'hipster' band from America, but delve in deeper and you'll find that there isn't just arena-ready anthems like It's TIme, but also subtle yet striking dubstep in album high Radioactive as well as jaunty melodies in Top Of The World. With a little push, this band could be HUGE. 17 Leona Lewis - Glassheart (average 7.95) http://thelavalizard.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/leona-lewis-glassheart-deluxe_thelavalizard.jpg Chart run: (2-4-6-7-9-10-8-9-10) UK peak: #3 Top 5: 01 Glassheart 02 Come Alive 03 Trouble 04 I To You 05 Fireflies As her quality slips slightly, so do her sales. Well, slightly is an understatement when this has thus far failed to sell even a tenth of her previous album Echo! That's not to say it's a bad album (why would it be up this high if it was?) but she had such high standards (both musically and commercially) to live up to that she was unlikely to achieve them. In fact, Glassheart should be viewed as an accomplishment, moving away from the 'boring' ballad sound, but not totally selling out. The dark R&B tracks Trouble and I To You wouldn't have too sounded out of place on Echo and Lovebird could have easily been on Spirit. But it's the album's most adventerous track, the title track, that makes the biggest mark. A huge dubstep infused club banger, Glassheart is easily one of Leona's best tracks to date that screams hit. This album may seem dead before it's begun, but a hit with a song like Glassheart could be a jump start.... Edited December 15, 201212 yr by Liаm
December 14, 201212 yr Within Temptation do a good cover of Radioactive :kink: Imagine Dragons are a fab band though <3 i hope they are massive.
December 14, 201212 yr Author 16 Christina Aguilera - Lotus (average 8.00) http://cdn.idolator.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/05/christina-aguilera-lotus-album-cover-400x400.jpg Chart run: (1-4-7-8-10) UK peak: #28 Top 5: 01 Just A Fool (ft. Blake Shelton) 02 Your Body 03 Let There Be Love 04 Red Hot Kinda Love 05 Army Of Me Poor Floptina :( Bionic seemed like a blip with it's 1-29 chart run, although the constant flop jokes have streamed in since then. And then with the release of Your Body, it seemed like Xtina may finally have had a hit on her hands. Fast forward a few months and Your Body peaked lower than the likes of Not Myself Tonight and Keeps Gettin' Better, and Lotus debuted one place high than Bionic ended up after it's mammoth 2nd week slide. But Lotus is yet another unique Christina album, again changing sonically and visually. Your Body brings slutty Xtina, Just A Fool brings lamenting Xtina, Blank Page brings emotional Xtina and Army Of Me brings confident Xtina. All in all, Lotus as a whole brings a new Xtina, one that I rather like. The major problem is lack of PROPER big ballads such as her best song ever Hurt, but the fact we get great electropop like Let There Be Love is a worthy replacement. 15 Olly Murs - Right Place, Right Time (average 8.00) http://i1.cdnds.net/12/39/618x618/olly_rprt_albumfinal.jpg Chart run: (3-3)*still charting UK peak: #1 Top 5: 01 Troublemaker (ft. Flo Rida) 02 Army Of Me 03 Dear Darlin' 04 What A Buzz 05 One Of These Days When he's not busy being the sexiest man alive and stealing my heart, Olly is busy making damn good music. And this, his 3rd album, is no exception. It may be a step down but his previous efforts, but it's still a step in the right direction, fusing his old sound with a slightly newer pop sound not too disimilair to his peers such as Maroon 5. This is particularly evident on the catchy-as-hell lead single Troublemaker (the video to which is my faves of the year for obvious reasons), which is among the highlights of the album. As a natural progression, this is a very good album! Edited December 15, 201212 yr by Liаm
December 15, 201212 yr Author 14 Rihanna - Unapologetic (average 8.00) http://www.rollingstone.com/assets/images/album_review/rihanna-unapologetic-1353352298.jpeg Chart run: (2-3-5-6)*still charting UK peak: #1 Top 5: 01 Stay (ft. Mikky Ekko) 02 Diamonds 03 Mother Mary/Love Without Tragedy 04 What Now 05 Right Now (ft. David Guetta) There's no flies on Rihanna with her 7th album in as many years coming barely a year after the smash hit We Found Love and her 6th album Talk That Talk. Unapologetic was promised to be many things while she was working on it, but the end product is an album somewhere in between Talk That Talk and Rated R. There are a lot of downtempo moments such as the highlights Stay and Diamonds, as well as club ready tracks like What Now and urban cuts like Phresh Out The Runway. Ultimately, it feels like Rihanna has tried to please everybody, but not done so entirely on all accounts. Nevertheless, this is a great album that just feels a little underwhelming due to the name attatched. 13 Loreen - Heal (average 8.04) http://www.scandipop.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/283578_10151180039094840_146745195_n-e1349288993306.jpg Chart run: (1-4-5-5-8-10) UK peak: #71 Top 5: 01 Euphoria 02 My Heart Is Refusing Me 03 If She's The One 04 Do We Even Matter? 05 Crying Out Your Name Have already burst onto Buzzjack's love list with My Heart Is Refusing Me followed 2011's Melodifestivalen, Loreen cemented her place there with 2012's ultimate Buzzjack spaffing moment Euphoria, the 2012 winner of both Melodifestivalen and Eurovision. After she did the impossible and took a song from Eurovision that wasn't a cheesy UK entry higher than ~#30, her next challenge was a successful album. And musically she did it, a collection of songs that are a stellar example of brilliant Scandipop. And despite only making #71, I hope some of the UK were at least enlightened to the wonders of Scandipop, it's not all Aqua and A*Teens as some people may perceive it to be! December 19, 201212 yr Author 12 Ke$ha - Warrior (average 8.13) http://cdn.idolator.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/08/keha-warrior-400x400.jpg Chart run: (1-2-3)*still charting UK peak: #66 :drama: Top 5: 01 Supernatural 02 Warrior 03 Love Into The Light 04 Dirty Love (ft. Iggy Pop) 05 Wonderland With her first album Animal (and it's re-release Cannibal), Ke$ha won over trashy pop fans in their droves with amazing tracks like Tik Tok and We R Who We R, as well as gorgeous ballads like The Harold Song and Blind. Warrior fails to totally live up to the trashiness of Animal, but the ballads really shine. Rocky sex track Dirty Love is among the highlights, even with an odd duet partner in Iggy Pop, as is the gorgeous ballad Love Into The Light. The bonus 'Deconstructed' EP is a let down though, rather than truly acoustic songs as I'd love to hear from her there are just a few re-arranged sparsely produced versions of 4 old songs and a Dolly Parton cover. The main album more than makes up for it though, despite not being as good as Animal (not much is though to be fair), it's a very strong album. 11 Delta Goodrem - Child Of The Universe http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kyxN5p_uOkk/UJUUrY5B-NI/AAAAAAAACpY/xJwFxc0VkpI/s1600/tumblr_mbklb1EuHx1qmx8pto1_1280.jpg Chart run: (1-3-5-6-6-8-9-10) UK peak: N/A (#2 in Australia) Top 5: 01 Hunters And The Wolves 02 Alcohol 03 Sitting On Top Of The World 04 Wish You Were Here 05 Hypnotised FINALLY. It may have taken her 5 years to get this out but it was worth the wait! Easily her best album since Innocent Eyes, Child Of The Universe shows a growth in Delta. While still keeping to the traditional piano pop she made her name with on tracks like Wish You Were Here, she goes all jaunty and fun on us on Sitting On Top Of The World and Hypnotised, brings some gospel on Safe To Believe and even follows the dance-pop trend with Dancing With A Broken Heart. Even with a mish-mash of genres, Delta manages to keep her integrity and maintain an identity, and the album is a cohesive successful.
