Posted August 16, 200619 yr Hargreaves ponders Man Utd switch England and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves is considering an offer from Manchester United. "The offer from United is fantastic," Hargreaves, who recently signed a contract extension with Bayern, told German magazine Sport Bild. "Particularly as an England international, it's of interest and you never know if such an opportunity will arise again," said the 25-year-old. "Now is the time to take the next step to develop even further." The midfielder, who has 34 caps, made his England debut against Holland in a friendly at White Hart Lane in August 2001. Hargreaves was a member of the England squad at the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004, but was played in a number of different positions and struggled to establish himself in the team. However, he was in excellent form at the World Cup in Germany, starring in the centre of midfield against Sweden and Portugal, and is set to start for England against Greece in a friendly at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Hargreaves has spent his entire professional career with Bayern since moving to Germany from Canada as a 16-year-old in 1997. He made his debut for the German club on 12 August 2000, coming on as a substitute for Carsten Jancker. The Canadian-born player has won the Bundesliga title four times and was a Champions League winner in 2001. Hargreaves has been linked with numerous Premiership clubs over recent years, including Arsenal, Tottenham and Middlesbrough. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/4798403.stm
August 16, 200619 yr If he did go to United then it would be a great buy for them, as long as Hargreaves is played in his best position. I reckon he'll accept the deal. In all the interviews he does, he's always talking about how he wants to play in England and this is the best oppotunity he's gonna get IMO.
August 22, 200619 yr Well Bayern have said no matter what price Fergie bids for him he's not going. Understandable really considering they've already lost Ballack on a free this summer.
August 22, 200619 yr Bayern will most likely be trying to stop the deal with United for as long as possible to see if anybody else wants to come in and take Hargreaves. Bayern have already lost Ballack on a free this summer and I don't think they wanna be seen as mugs so they'll try to hike up Hargreaves price.
August 22, 200619 yr Love the fact the BM boss has had to tell Hargreaves several times to shut the **** up  He would be pretty awesome for United so hopefully....
August 23, 200619 yr Author He's made it clear he doesn't want to play for Bayern any more so it would be pointless keeping him when they can get £15m+ for him...
August 24, 200619 yr Bayern Munichs manager has called him a prostitute now. Edited August 24, 200619 yr by chap stick
August 25, 200619 yr Must be true then. :manson: I imagine it was, it was a good paper unlike the crappy news of the world.
