That would only be true if DM were copying or taking example from Hurts. And they are not.

Oh god SO many similarities between The Road and Depeche Mode's Heaven. You can just put the breakdown from The Road into Heaven after the words 'I'm in heaven' and nobody would even notice anything! So creepy.

I notice the similarity between Hurts and Depeche Mode but I wouldn't really get too obsessed over how much they are the same.

 

On a side note, Hurts actually inspired me to listen to Depeche Mode (a band that I never heard of, forgive me for that since I was born in the late 80s) and I am quite into DM now.

 

The Miracle video quite under-represents the song in my opinion.
