December 14, 201212 yr Thanks for the post. Interesting to see what was successful in the communist era. Christie 72 and 73 .... Yellow River/San Bernadino were Western hits in 1970 with the album from the same year so quite a delay there. Abba 2 in 1977....was there a release with that title in the West ? Afric Simone in 1978 some three years after initial success in the West... I think he performed extensively in Eastern Europe and was probably approved of coming from Mozambique. Surprised by the success of Drupi not popular in the West outside Italy except the single "Vado via". Then the Goombay Dance Band !! - German. Doris D and the Pins !! ... Dutch girl band. Secret Service...Swedish. No US acts listed in the Communist era and only Christie from the UK. Also notice the name Irena Santor ... I believe she sang a version of the song sampled on "Da Bop" by WTF.
