Posted December 16, 201212 yr actually not that many christmas songs, most of the regular charting hits have made my charts so many times I don't usually bother - that said, I bought the Wizzard song in dec 1973 with a gatefold picture sleeve pull-out and Roy Wood was in the middle of a run of 5 number ones in a row. I was a fan, so it's heartening to see it regarded as a classic - pity the 2 Wizzard number one hits aren't remembered too, they are just as good! 1 1 1 13 DISCONNECTED Keane 2 2 2 6 RADIOACTIVE Imagine Dragons 3 3 3 9 BRUISES Train/ Ashley Monroe 4 14 4 9 DON'T YOU WORRY CHILD Swedish House Mafia/ John Martin 5 5 5 4 SHE'S A RAINBOW The Rolling Stones 6 6 6 6 TRY P!nk 7 4 2 7 SOMETHING NEW Girls Aloud 8 11 8 19 (I'M NOT YOUR) STEPPIN' STONE The Monkees 9 7 1 6 DARK BLACK Kristina Train 10 18 10 2 MY HEART IS REFUSING ME Loreen 11 9 1 10 RUN BOY RUN Woodkid 12 12 3 7 I FOUND YOU The Wanted 13 8 8 9 WONDER Naughty Boy/ Emeli Sande 14 16 14 6 LIGHT UP THE WORLD Steps 15 13 8 9 MOVES LIKE JAGGER Bananarama 16 15 7 7 PLEASE FORGIVE MY HEART Bobby Womack 17 10 10 6 BLACK CHRISTMAS Poly Styrene 18 23 18 5 YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE New Radicals 19 24 19 9 DIAMONDS Rihanna 20 30 20 4 ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS (ABBEY ROAD SESSIONS) Kylie Minogue 21 19 8 12 ONE MORE NIGHT Maroon 5 22 20 5 11 SKYFALL Adele 23 21 10 7 LATCH Disclosure/Sam Smith 24 26 24 4 MEMORY OF THE FUTURE (SINGLE REMIX) Pet Shop Boys 25 17 17 7 HURTS LIKE HEAVEN Coldplay 26 27 26 4 SKY The Human League 27 29 27 6 TROUBLEMAKER Olly Murs/ Flo Rida 28 28 28 4 THE OUTSIDERS Deacon Blue 29 22 9 8 BENEATH YOUR BEAUTIFUL Labrinth/ Emili Sande 30 39 30 2 HERE WITH ME The Killers 31 33 31 15 I DON'T KNOW HOW TO LOVE HIM Yvonne Elliman 32 45 18 13 GANGNAM STYLE PSY 33 25 18 6 RUNAWAY Gemma Ray 34 34 34 3 NOT GIVING IN Rudimental/ John Newman/ Alex Clare 35 32 1 20 LITTLE TALKS Of Monsters And Men 36 31 1 21 SOME NIGHTS fun. 37 38 37 4 HO HEY The Lumineers 38 41 38 3 DNA Little Mix 39 48 39 3 LOVER TO LOVER Florence + The Machine 40 40 40 5 LOCKED OUT OF HEAVEN Bruno Mars 41 36 36 3 YOU'RE ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS Caro Emerald & Brook Benton 42 35 10 9 MY GIRL 2 Madness 43 46 43 16 WE WILL ROCK YOU Queen 44 44 44 3 LIGHTNING BOLT Jake Bugg 45 37 10 10 RIDE Lana Del Ray 46 51 46 9 YOUR MOTHER SHOULD KNOW The Beatles 47 50 47 11 HELP ME RHONDA The Beach Boys 48 56 48 2 DON’T SAVE ME HAIM 49 60 49 2 HEAR ME Imagine Dragons 50 NEW 50 1 KISS YOU One Direction 51 49 49 3 THE POWER OF LOVE Frankie Goes To Hollywood 52 54 52 3 THE POWER OF LOVE Gabrielle Aplin 53 43 20 9 LET'S HAVE A KIKI Scissor Sisters 54 47 6 14 CANDY Robbie Williams 55 55 55 4 GOLD DUST DJ Fresh 56 42 24 4 HIGHER The Overtones 57 68 57 3 WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE AC/DC 58 58 9 10 REQUIEM IN DENIM AND LEOPARDSKIN Pet Shop Boys 59 64 59 5 DON'T SPEAK No Doubt 60 72 60 3 GROOVE IS IN THE HEART Deee-Lite 61 53 30 7 PUT YOUR HANDS UP Matchbox 20 62 62 1 81 GOD ONLY KNOWS The Beach Boys 63 63 1 40 ANYONE WHO HAD A HEART Cilla Black 64 52 52 4 GIRL ON FIRE Alicia Keys 65 65 1 101 BAKER STREET Gerry Rafferty 66 NEW 66 1 A FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK The Pogues/ Kirsty Maccoll 67 66 1 60 PRINCESS OF CHINA Coldplay/ Rihanna 68 74 68 2 DIFFERENT Robbie Williams 69 NEW 69 1 I WISH IT COULD BE CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY Wizzard 70 NEW 70 1 LET’S GET IT ON Marvin Gaye 71 NEW 71 1 IMPOSSIBLE James Arthur 72 61 7 10 BLUE VELVET Lana Del Ray 73 73 1 47 SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW Gotye/Kimbra 74 NEW 74 1 DIE YOUNG Kesha 75 NEW 75 1 FANNY (BE TENDER WITH MY LOVE) The Bee Gees drop outs: 51 16 11 PUSH AND SHOVE No Doubt/Busy Signal/Major Lazer 59 59 2 THESE DAYS I Am Kloot 67 67 2 LOVE IS EASY McFly 61 4 19 GOOD TIMES Owl City/ Carly Rae Jepson 70 70 2 LOUD AND CLEAR Olly Murs 71 71 2 RUNNIN' SCARED Jeff Lynne 75 75 1 WIRES Athlete

December 16, 201212 yr Author Gabrielle Aplin is only one good UK # 1 in this year. + 2 positions for Steps !!!! Thanks Alex, I like the Gabrielle version, but as one gets older cover versions usually dont have the same appeal of the original, providing one loves the original (which I did, No. 1 1984) and charted a few times since. Steps position is remarkable considering I havent yet downloaded it and have only heard about 4 or 5 times:) cheers! john
December 21, 201212 yr Hi, John! :D Nice to see The Stones are still at respectable No.5 position. I expect some classic Xmas oldies will raise high in your Chart next week. Looks like you've got that wonderful Christmas spirit! That's great! Do you still have that I WISH IT COULD BE CHRISTMAS vinyl single at home? Could have been a great Xmas memorabilia if you do. :) Shocked to see FANNY (BE TENDER WITH MY LOVE) entering your Chart, cause it's one of my faves BG's records (if not the one)! Very underrated song!

Very underrated song! Cheers Andrey, yes that stones track should be a no. 1 really, there's just so many I love at the moment! Yes, I have every vinyl single I ever bought, I love vinyl, cd's I have very little emotional attachment to though. Fanny is in my chart thanks to the various Bee Gees charting compilations, and this record never did much in my chart in 1976 so it's long overdue. I think the problem British listeners have with it is the double entendre meaning of Fanny, which is not the same as the American meaning (of "behind"). I think the Gibbs would have known that the popular Australian girls name also had another meaning in England...! Of course I could be wrong, and apologies to Barry Gibb for saying it!:)
