actually not that many christmas songs, most of the regular charting hits have made my charts so many times I don't usually bother - that said, I bought the Wizzard song in dec 1973 with a gatefold picture sleeve pull-out and Roy Wood was in the middle of a run of 5 number ones in a row. I was a fan, so it's heartening to see it regarded as a classic - pity the 2 Wizzard number one hits aren't remembered too, they are just as good!

Thanks Alex, I like the Gabrielle version, but as one gets older cover versions usually dont have the same appeal of the original, providing one loves the original (which I did, No. 1 1984) and charted a few times since. Steps position is remarkable considering I havent yet downloaded it and have only heard about 4 or 5 times:)

cheers!

john

Hi, John! :D

Nice to see The Stones are still at respectable No.5 position. I expect some classic Xmas oldies will raise high in your Chart next week. Looks like you've got that wonderful Christmas spirit! That's great!

Do you still have that I WISH IT COULD BE CHRISTMAS vinyl single at home? Could have been a great Xmas memorabilia if you do. :)

Shocked to see FANNY (BE TENDER WITH MY LOVE) entering your Chart, cause it's one of my faves BG's records (if not the one)! Very underrated song!

Cheers Andrey, yes that stones track should be a no. 1 really, there's just so many I love at the moment! Yes, I have every vinyl single I ever bought, I love vinyl, cd's I have very little emotional attachment to though.

Fanny is in my chart thanks to the various Bee Gees charting compilations, and this record never did much in my chart in 1976 so it's long overdue. I think the problem British listeners have with it is the double entendre meaning of Fanny, which is not the same as the American meaning (of "behind"). I think the Gibbs would have known that the popular Australian girls name also had another meaning in England...!

Of course I could be wrong, and apologies to Barry Gibb for saying it!:)
