Thought you'd like that, although it's probably bollocks. JINGLE BELLS

For SHAME. Full of gay anthems and he's SO lovely. As I said, I did love half of it before the album even arrived, the remaining songs (except 'Feel It') weren't QUITE as good. And ER 'Pyramids' is before 'Lost' why did you start there

Oh he is INCREDIBLY lovely, the music just doesn't do it as much for me. Although given I got him mixed up with Japayork and nothing on there could even hope to live up to the glory of Teenagers he didn't have the best advantage going into listening.

OMG I meant Crack Rock 4giv me

*from Thinkin Bout You onwards.

Babes, some of us are SLIGHTLY discerning and don't just call everything from everyone we love a 10/10 (just everything from Crack Rock onwards)

The stirs of 'Devotion' strike up as if they've already been playing, somewhere out of your ear's vacinity. Stirring with rise of the moon, perhaps, because as it begins, Jessie Ware's debut feels like an album of the night, a bewitching spell where synths shimmer like stars. It was probably obvious, after Jamie Woon's Mirrorwriting ran away with my top honours last year, that the similar timbres of Ware's music might triumph here, but the finest pleasures of Devotion are of a warmer, cooler quality. 'Wildest Moments' lifts with a gentle euphoria, the momentary reach of the chorus softening without reproach into the easy beats of the verses. "Maybe in our wildest moments / We could be the greatest," Ware softly wonders, but it seems neither a desperate desire nor a frightening imposition. The entire record flourishes with the smaller dreams and pitfalls of love and companionship - "who says no to love?", she queries, the ultimate answer being herself - delivered with her beautiful, warm tones, as at home in a whisper as in a pained cry. Devotion eschews bombast, allowing it to glide closer to the listener and envelop them in its mixture of soft vocals and nostalgic, vibrant instrumentation.

essential track // Still Love Me

Wildest Moments WITHOUT EXCEPTION always has me crying into the festive bhuna
OH YEAH. Forgot she existed for a minute. Still can't really get into devotion, stuff like 'Wildest Moments' is plain rather than heartbreaking for me. Can't say I remember much of which tracks were my faves but '110%' is still wonderful.

PLAIN? You cray. The chorus is a thing of beauty.

Electra Heart?! :puke: You have hit the lowest of lows, David. :kink:[/size]

!!!

wtf are you on?

Buy The Stars is so great David, excellent to see you have a snap with me for Marina. I did actually like Still Love Me so SLOWLY coming round to Jessie, but yeah Wildest Moments is still so plain. :D

I need to listen more to that Amanda Mair album I have with it finishing that high. :o (and I share 7 of your top 20 woo)

Devotion (apart from the title track) is pretty boring unfortunately :( But I definitely do appreciate the woman and her singing capabilities.
!!!

wtf are you on?

Sorry. I've not listened to the album but the whole project seems to be very tacky and unapproachable for me, if Primadonna was anything to go by. It's one of the most sickly songs to come out this year in my opinion. The only song I've liked from her is Hollywood.

I've listened to Devotion though and it isn't very good in my opinion. :( The only good songs on the album are 110% and Night Light.

The best thing to do with Electra Heart is to completely ignore everything except the music (and I suppose the music videos, they're quite good). It might not be for you (no idea what you think of the singles) but I definitely wouldn't dismiss it because of the garbage Marina was spouting about it.

It's just something that I would never ever listen to out of choice. That Power And Control song didn't seem very good either. :P I did like Radioactive though. :D

'Power & Control' is amazing. So underrated, it's just not instant enough for the charts/BuzzJack.
Is there anything on the album that sounds like Hollywood? Because I would probably listen to it if there was.

HERE WE GO. To qualify for this list, a song needed to EITHER be released in 2012 as a single, OR on an album, EP or single package. (Therefore, a few 2011 songs appear due to their release as a single in 2012, due to my stupidity different eligibility rules last year.) (I haven't really verified all these so don't go nitpicking)

And here's a preview of who appears in the EPIC top twenty.

Feel free to SPECULATE WILDLY.

R.I.P. is actually a brilliant song! It's a shame that she hasn't lived up to her potential even since that song though. :(

Five songs from 40-21 were #1s in my personal chart. Find out which songs by looking at the link in my signature! :kink: And remember to comment on my #1s and #2s. :P

I knew I turned signatures off for a reason. I'm already aware of your chart thanks.

"You can't be here / How long 'til you disappear"

(1-1-1-4-6-5-12-23-30)

From the louche, yet somehow menacing swing of those compressed synths to the chime of the gloomy beats that strike up next, 'Sweet Talk' is an intoxicating mixture of cautious sexuality and suspicious mysticism. When Jessie goes high - "just keep up with that TALKING" - it's a chilling surprise, for she's so soft and subtle, almost cowed, for the remainder of the song, crafting one of Devotion's most archly '90s songs and recasting the jaunty r'n'b sounds into a dark tale of forbidden attraction. 'Sweet Talk' is a tantalisingly sensual, confoundingly relaxing song, the apothesis of Jessie's subtle project of gentle intoxication.

Devotion (apart from the title track) is pretty boring unfortunately :( But I definitely do appreciate the woman and her singing capabilities.

WRONG.

The best thing to do with Electra Heart is to completely ignore everything except the music (and I suppose the music videos, they're quite good). It might not be for you (no idea what you think of the singles) but I definitely wouldn't dismiss it because of the garbage Marina was spouting about it.

tbh, the garbage spouting is what got me hoping it would turn into another seriously good album. the music is exactly what let it down for me :(

~the singles list is looking PROMISING. spent far too much of that top ten thinking 'who?' but i can't go blaming you for my own ignorance reallly.

I knew I turned signatures off for a reason. I'm already aware of your chart thanks.

Oh. :(

You didn't have to be so blunt. :snif:

I still love you though.
