Love that Sirusho song! From what we know so far, I'm thinking we could be heading back east again next year. Georgia and Armenia are the two I'm anticipating most so far. God know what Azerbaijan are going to pull out as well!

Me too! I'm guessing if it gets sent they'll release an English version though? Shame if they do though, I love it in its current form.

Well the first 30 seconds can easily be chopped off, so the other 30 shouldn't be too hard hopefully. I fully expect Armenia or Georgia to win this year!

The first thirty seconds are VITAL! That'd be like getting rid of the intro to Qele Qele!

This is great, but apparently it's some kind of a cover/remake of a guy rather brilliantly named Komitas Vardapet. He's from the early 1900s so you'd think it wouldn't count, but the classical song in the German selection has been rewritten because it souded like a classical hymn...

Unless it's a direct cover I wouldn't say it'd be a problem. Hell, if Listen To Your Heartbeat and We've Got The World Tonight can be entered, sounding similar to something from the early 1900s probably won't be a barrier.

Actually, hearing it, they'd probably just modify the intro.

 

I still think they should chop the intro. The song wouldn't lose anything at all. Completely different to 'Qele, Qele'.

Armenia: National final on 2 March

Broadcaster reverses original decision

 

Despite initially announcing that they would select their Eurovision Song Contest entery internally, Armenian national broadcaster AMPTV has now changed tact and will organise a national final on 2 March. Many artists have expressed an interest in representing Armenia this year, leading to the decision. Head of Delegation Gohar Gasparyan told eurovision.tv:

 

"Earlier AMPTV announced an internal selection, but as we continue getting numerous letters and songs we decided to give an opportunity for as many singers/authors as possible to perform live and be selected by the viewers and professional jury ensuring healthy competition."

Having announced just yesterday that they would be organising an open national final to search for their Eurovision Song Contest 2013 entry, Armenian broadcaster AMPTV has changed its mind again!

 

This morning there has been an amended press release, stating that the artist will be chosen internally with a televised song selection show on 2 March instead. The decision on the singer is expected this week, with the deadline to send in songs still set at 20 February.
