:music:Top Ten Albums of 2012:music:
(This year I haven't been very album focused and have enjoyed single tracks or cherry picks moreso than full length albums)

10. Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto
A_YesP7CYAUAJSv.jpg
I love Chris Martin's voice. He's got one of my favourite male voices in the music industry. Admittedely, I've only thoroughly listened to the singles of this album, which have all been fantastic! (one Rihanna duet in particular), however from few listens it sounded good. None of the album tracks captured me apart from Up In Flames, however overall it managed to gain 10th place on my favourite albums this year!.

09. The Family Jewels - Marina & The Diamonds
A_YedmqCYAId_PJ.jpg
I've had this album in my library for about 2 years but it was only due to the release of Electra Heart and Primadonna that I began to "get" Marina. As a result I gave this album a couple of spins. It's amazing! I had heard all 2 of the (mainstream) singles beforehand but once listening to them along with the album tracks, its a great collection of songs. Mowgli's Road being the highlight of the album; the quirky melodies, strained vocals and kooky lyrics makes it a really enjoyable listen and a welcomed break from the generic pop I sit most comfortable with.

Hey Ryan. Two AMAZING albums already :o

Glad to see you finally discovering The Family Jewels, and hope to see Electra Heart much higher too. Oh No! is my favourite off it

08. I'm Not Dead - P!nk
A_YgA7nCAAA-r7q.jpg
I know. An album from 2006 in my 2012 EOY chart. I have always loved P!nk, but this year was the year I've truly appreciated her for the unbelievable artist she is. I downloaded all of her past albums this year and enjoyed each one incredibly. This stood out the most, having produced three number ones in my chart this year with "Stupid Girls", "Long Way To Happy" and the amazing "I Got Money Now". I didn't want to place this in my top ten of the year because of its date of release, but I can't lie to myself. It's such a good album with many fierce highlights, although it does begin to drag near the end. There is one more P!nk album to come...

07. Talk That Talk - Rihanna
http://p.twimg.com/Ah2ooZNCIAAAPrh.jpg
She releases an album without fail every November/Decemeber. This managed to hit 7th place in my 2011 EOY chart, as well as this year. Rihanna is the biggest artist on the planet at the moment, and it's hard to not appreciate how successful she has become. Talk That Talk is a very good album, and may have reached higher peaks if it was released earlier in the year. It seems to be her most uninspired release but the tracks don't fail to hook you on first listens. "Where Have You Been?" managed to reach number one this year, after peaking at number 4 in 2011. My favourites off the album are the filthy "Birthday Cake" and the amazingess that is "Drunk On Love".

06. Unapologetic - Rihanna
A_Ym6vzCIAAnJV5.jpg
On first listen, it was utter sh*te. It wasn't generic pop, I didn't like the first single and I couldn't connect to it. I gave it another couple of spins and soon I did begin to catch on to the underground urban music Rihanna produced this time. "Numb" with all its 4 lyrics is especially good, as is "No Love Allowed". I can't dislike the catchiness of "Right Now" and it always helps to have a killer breakdown in the music (Jump also). Personally, It's not my favourite from her and it doesn't reach the high's of Loud or Talk That Talk but I do like the different vibe she brought to the table. I won't be enjoying the artists that try to follow the bandwagon in 2013.

05. Electra Heart - Marina & The Diamonds
A_Yoab8CAAIah_z.png
I don't know what to say about this album. It's so deep it's exremely hard to understand what the hell she's talking about. Once (I think) I figured it out, I adored it. Lyrically, It's so relatable to me. I believe its about personality, characters and finding yourself. "Fear and Loathing" is so emotional I just adore it. I could take so many quotes of this album and become a tumblr King so easily!. My favourites of the album are the wicked dance track "Radioactive", "Hypocrates" and the gorgeous "Lies". The melody is so simple yet so easy to connect to. This album relaxes, excites and depresses me with each track! I felt so happy when this hit no.1. Marina is an amazing artist who should be appreciated more!

04. Heaven - Rebecca Ferguson
A_YqCnSCYAAmOwP.jpg
Breathtaking! It truly is. Her voice is so traditionally good it makes me feel warm when I listen to her. This spawned 2 number ones on my chart. "Shoulder to Shoulder"; the beautiful, emotional ballad and "Too Good To Lose"; the jazzy, happy, feel-good track conclusion to the album. It's such a smooth listen packed full of soul and old-school melodies. Rebecca has a truly unique talent and I can't fault this album at all really. "Mr. Bright Eyes", "Teach Me How To Be Loved", "Run Free" and "Fairtytale" are all excellent tracks written well and with true meaning. It's a million times better than anything Adele has ever done!

03. Heartbreak On Hold - Alexandra Burke
A_YucNwCQAAhK_a.jpg
I don't know where to start. My final three albums have been so difficult to place. Their all utterly incredible for different reasons. Alexandra is a brilliant performer and a very talented vocalist. This album is a great generic pop/dance record with some great standout tracks including "Daylight Robbery","Love You That Much", "Oh La La" and "Tonight". It's everything I could have hoped from Miss Burke. The one issue with it that made my decision to place it third was the lyrical content. It's just not getting any emotion from me other than making me happy because it's so catchy. The first single "Elephant" is a stomping tune! that I adore. The bonus tracks are what makes this album and I cannot believe their just bonus tracks! "Devil In Me" is such a jumping beat with a great chorus, great backing track and nice little 90's sample!. When she talked about the album, describing it at as having "big 90's choruses" this is the only one I feel she may have been talking about. "Beating Still" has an incredible, euphoric beat with a middle 8 that just obliterates anything in it's path. I don't even want to mention the chart impact this had in the UK. I love the album and her, but this year she's sadly not number one!

02. Heal - Loreen
A_Y-8P3CQAAMPeQ.jpg
OMG! It was unbearably close from the top spot, what made it rank second place is purely down to the little knowledge I have of the artist herself. She is incredible. Her voice is silky, powerful and delicious amongst her marvellous music! This album is just a mystical masterpiece. First of all, it's dance. Dance is my favourite type of music. Secondly, it's not generic dance; it's beautiful, poetic, eerie dance music that makes me ears want more! Thirdly, the lyrics. They are just fantastic. How she has managed to write an album based on the overused subject of heartbreak, yet make it completely relevant is beyond me. I love the little incorrect pronunciations she makes with some of the words. It's just makes it more humble and cute! Two words you couldn't use to describe the actual music. "My Heart Is Refusing Me", "Breaking Robot", "See You Again" and of course "Euphoria" are some of the many standouts. Well, they all standout as there isn't a filler on the album. It's emotional. It's sad. It's incredible. It's atmospheric. It's some-other-posh-adjective-that-doesn't-justify-just-how-good-it-is. Loreen, I applaud you.

01. The Truth About Love - P!nk
A_Y_BRaCEAEab0k.png
So after all those positive things I just wrote about my second favourite album of the year, how can I describe my first? First of all, it's not perfect. It's a brilliant record with some stomping tunes on there. The music itself consists of pop with rock influences. Her vocal is unbeatable on the likes of "Beam Me Up", "Just Give Me A Reason" and "Try". The lead single packs a powerful punch but the introductory track "Are We All We Are" remains a high favourite on the album. "The Truth About Love" reminds me of Only Fools and Horses for a completely unknown reason and as a result it makes me think of Britain in the 80's which makes me feel all nostalgic and happy. "True Love" is a classic pop track with wicked melodies. The entire album has good lyrical content which P!nk has always managed to pull off exceedingly well. What this album has done more than anything else, is enable me to "wake-up" to P!nk. A woman who is capable of extraordinary things and who has played an important part in my childhood, my adolescent years, my growth and love in music and myself as a person.
