Ryan Dolan - “Only love survives”

Ooooh, this is actually OK! The instrumental is a bit busy but if this is performed well live then it could qualify. It reminds me of something else but I'm not sure what.

Kasey - “Kiss me there"

Oh DEAR. I think this might be the HOT MESS of Eurosong. Really average song with no real hook. It's actually incredibly irritating.

I managed to listen to these and i think it is 100% safe to say Ireland do not have to worry about hosting Eurovision in 2014. From what i have heard they wont qualify this year, Inchequin is the best of a very poor lot.

Oh there's no way we're doing well enough to threaten the top ten, but I do think two of the songs could qualify (Aimée and Ryan).

For anybody interested in listening to them:

Aimee Fitzpatrick - “Crashing down”

Kasey - “Kiss me there" (Can't actually find a link for this, but maybe it's for the best :P)

"Fire" is my favourite. That and "Only Love Survives" are the best there but the latter seems to build-up and then not amount to much. Nothing as good as "Waterline". :(

Inchequin - Son Kez/The Last Time

He has a good voice....but I find the song a bit dull overall. I agree with Cal I wish there was more of the celtic instruments and less of the "Son kez" over and over. On first listen I'll give it a 6/10.

Ryan Dolan

Surprised actually, I was convinced his was going to be some kind of Brian Kennedy ballad. Still I'm not a big fan of this dance music really. I think it's a song that would definitely be better on a stage rather than on a youtube video. 6.5/10

Zoë Alexis Bohorquez - Fire

Something doesn't sit right with me on this one. I don't feel like it has a great hook to it. Feel very underwhelmed by this one. That said it's another song that really needs a stage performance to really get a feel for it. 5/10

Aimee Fitzpatrick - Crashing Down

I was liking this a lot at the start of the song but I kind of lost interest near the end. I'm sure it'll be a wonderful performance....but I was really counting on Aimee Fitzpatrick being my favourite. (She is...but that's not saying much) 7/10

Kasey - Kiss Me There

It's not as bad as I was fearing given what people were saying. I like the "I ain't ever" parts but the rest is pretty poor. It seems like a song that will be totally dependent on the performance because it's not winning any points for the song. She's going to have to be vaulting herself around a pole to qualify. 3.5/10

I can't find a video of this song anywhere, which probably doesn't mean anything good. ?/10

Pretty poor pickings this time around. :( Maybe some of them will grow on me.

Based on the studio versions of the songs I'm rooting for Aimée. I do tend to shy away from ballads but this one is rather lovely. After a few listens it really clicks.
Kiss Me There is the catchiest on the first listen through of this lot, it's sort of like a cheaper version of Samantha Jade's What You've Done To Me but with the K-pop-esque 'Kiss Me' refrain. The rest are instantly forgettable but decent when listening, apart from Son Kez which is largely crap, apart from the little bits of Celtic influence.
I'm shocked no Jedward this year :o :heehee:

It's definitely hard to know who will actually win this one.

It'll be pretty nice going into a national final where it's not already a sure thing.

Very good quality national final here, all of them are good at least! My favourite is Aimee, followed by Zoe and then either Ryan or Inchequin. Hopefully Aimee can win, love her song and her voice sounds brilliant!

Edited by Ryan.

I like only "Crashing Down".

Irish NF was better in 2012. "Language Of Love"

Apparently Melanie Mccabe was going to sing Kiss Me There and she even had the song recorded but she withdrew at the last moment. I wonder if they'll ever release Melanie's version.

Well I don't know if there's any proof of this but it wouldn't be that surprising. (I saw someone mention it on digitalspy)

Ryan Dolan song is growing on me slightly, i still think Ireland will struggle to qualify this year based on the overall quality of what they have selected.

Live performance of Ryan singing Only Love Survives:

He seems pretty capable, it's a bit hard to tell when the quality is so bad.

Aimée was back performing at my uni today! The SU seems to be supporting her a lot, which is great to see. 'Crashing Down' keeps growing on me. :D

So yeh this is set to win due to Niall Horan hyping it on Twitter xD I get SFE 2001 vibes from my head hairs to my toe hairs.

Paddy Power has Ryan Dolan and Aimee Fitzgerald as the favourites, surprising since Zoe was in second a day or so ago.

You have to wonder how many of those Niall reached will actually vote though, they'll probably have forgotten by the time the national final comes. Plus it is a 50/50 jury split. I doubt the juries will be so enamoured with Niall. :P

Anyone know what Zoe is like live?

Yeh if it has any effect it could be a result like "Out of Control" in 2009... the studio version is already painful as it is, don't want to know what it'll sound like live xD
Going by the charts it looks like Ryan has it since he made it to #94.
