December 31, 201212 yr Author PSY has yet to come! Get that Top 10 EOY Hitstastic smash! I think you will be pleasantly surprised Oricon. :D ...or is PSY #11 and just missed out on a place in my top 10 of 2012? Let's find out... :o http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/prancefaris-flares.jpg 11. Prance Faris - Flares [#1] Nope!!! K-Pop is officially in my Top 10 of 2012. Who'd have thought!!! However, FSR Rontvia's most successful BJSC entry in my chart just falls short of being amongst my top 10 tracks of 2012. 'Flares' remains a truly awesome slice of glorious trance. Which leaves 10 songs to go. Which track from 2012 is going to be my #1 of 2012? All shall be revealed within the next two hours (hopefully)
December 31, 201212 yr Author Warrior and Ode to the Bouncer ruining what would've been a perfect top 20 :P I never got into those in BJSC. I was very disapointed about Warrior considering it had A-Trak co-producing it (yes the same A-Trak who remixed Heads Will Roll and co-produced Barbra Streisand ) I still think they're great tracks. I suppose that's the beauty of BJSC - entering songs that you really like even if they don't exactly do well. Considering both were #1 for me, they were always going to perform better than some of my other BJSC entries.
December 31, 201212 yr Had no idea Flares would end up so high, only three places lower than it was for me, and you had Fireflies far higher!
December 31, 201212 yr Author So let's try and finish this off before I start preparing for my New Years Day celebrations. :D ** RECAP 11-40 ** 11. Prance Faris - Flares 12. Kimbra feat. Mark Foster & A-Trak - Warrior 13. Little Mix - Wings 14. Emma Hewitt - Colours 15. Studio Killers - Ode To The Bouncer 16. Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks 17. Little Mix - DNA 18. DJ Fresh feat. Rita Ora - Hot Right Now 19. Donkeyboy - City Boy 20. Rihanna - Diamonds 21. Rudimental feat. John Newman - Feel The Love 22. Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) 23. Asaf Avidan & The Mojos - One Day/Reckoning Song (Wankelmut Remix) 24. Pink - Try 25. Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time 26. Rihanna - Where Have You Been 27. Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness 28. Laleh - Some Die Young 29. Still Corners - Fireflies 30. fun. - Some Nights 31. Foxes - Youth 32. Flo Rida feat. Sia - Wild Ones 33. Lana Del Rey - Blue Jeans 34. Reverend & The Makers - Bassline 35. Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin - Don't You Worry Child 36. David Guetta feat. Sia - She Wolf (Falling To Pieces) 37. Alex Clare - Too Close 38. Lana Del Rey - Ride 39. Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - Dance Again 40. Cazzi Opeia - My Heart In 2 It's time to reveal my top 10 tracks of 2012 starting with... http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/ivangough-inmymind.jpg 10. Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl feat. Georgi Kay - In My Mind (Axwell Remix) [#2] Kicking off the top 10 of 2012 is 'In My Mind' which has become the most successful of my BJSC entries of 2012 according to my personal chart. Odd to think that when I first confirmed this track, I was still in two minds over the track. A couple of days later I discovered Woodkid (yet to appear ^_^ ) and was on the verge of changing my entry before PMing Arrs to show him what my new entry was going to be. The reply from Arrs basically said "I've already entered the track myself". My heart sank!!! However, it's mainly Axwell who makes this track so brilliant. The original version sounds crap in comparison but that synth breakdown is *.* good. I also re-edited the track as I didn't like the official radio edit so it became a version of the track I enjoyed listening to. The track made a brief appearance in the iTunes top 100 after Swedish House Mafia released their farewell album 'Until Now' although the track has since been made album only.
December 31, 201212 yr Author Had no idea Flares would end up so high, only three places lower than it was for me, and you had Fireflies far higher! I will do some better comments in your EOY chart once mine is completed. 'Flares' is a gem. I agree 100% with the comment you made in your thread. It's like a wild dog trapped in a cage, just waiting to be set free to make its impact[/weirdmetaphor] http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/gabrielleaplin-pdsylm.jpg 09. Gabrielle Aplin - Please Don't Say You Love Me [#1] Anyone seen Silas? :D At #9 is Gabrielle Aplin who took everyone by surprise when her cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood 'The Power Of Love' climbed to no. 1 a couple of weeks back, mainly thanks to James Arthur performing the track on The X Factor. Here, however, it was 'Please Don't Say You Love Me' that had the bigger impact steadily making its way to no. 1 in my chart. The week this did finally top my chart, 'The Power Of Love' was coincidentally #2 although that fell away again whilst this held its own. Another example of a BJSC track growing on me post-results. Whilst Still Corners 'Fireflies' were awarded my 12 points to Gabrielle's 7 points, it's this track that has had the bigger overall impact.
December 31, 201212 yr Author http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/adele-skyfall.jpg 08. Adele - Skyfall [#1] From a beautiful folk-esque ballad to a classy ballad from Adele. In 2011, Adele dominated my chart with three #1 singles - two of which made my top 10 of the year. This year Adele just has the one entry - but what an entry. From the first time I heard this, I thought this was an incredible composition. The arrangement is stunning, the vocals are flawless (even though the way Adele sings "we will stand tall" in the chorus bugged me slightly at first) this song just oozes class. Shame it had to be released on a Friday as with a Sunday release, there's no doubt this would've stormed to #1 in the UK.
December 31, 201212 yr "pops in later to comment on the full chart" You seem to have a lot of gems in there already that I would like to comment on.
December 31, 201212 yr Author http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/carlyraejepson-callmemaybe.jpg 07. Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe [#1] Ramrynia EXPLODES. :w00t: Whilst Numayania earned the honour of being BJSC's most successful country in 2012, there's no denying that Ryan was also providing the hits during 2012 too. Carly Rae Jepsen was entered into the first BJSC of 2012 by Ryan when the track started to take off in Canada. 'Call Me Maybe' was a track I liked but preferred other tracks more in that particular final. I gave this 1 point but it kept growing on me. From entering my chart at a rather lowly #34, it ended up at #1 some eight weeks later when the track was riding high in the UK charts.
December 31, 201212 yr Author http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/fun-weareyoung.jpg 06. fun. feat. Janelle Monáe - We Are Young [#1] 6. fun. feat. Janelle Monáe – We Are Young http://blog.jess3.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/JESS3_Fun_WeAreYoung-1.jpg 4 weeks at number in April. First heard on Glee, the original version is by far superior. I quite liked Some Nights (the autotune bit aside) as well. Well that's 3 charts now with a SNAP situation. 3 more year end charts with fun at number 6? Well 2 others being your's and HausofKubrick's. I make that 4 now!!! :o Yes, fun. appear to have finished 6th in four different EOY charts with 'We Are Young'. Just not good enough for a top 5 placing. It's still such an anthemic joyous track that defined 2012. Is bound to become a million selling single in the next month or two. :D
December 31, 201212 yr Author http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/psy-gangnamstyle.jpg 05. PSY - Gangnam Style (강남스타일) [#1] Oricon DELIGHTED. In 5th place it's 2012's ultimate novelty/cultural track of the year. Those who take part in BJSC will know that K-Pop has been championed for a long time. Yet it was a genre I didn't get as I found most of the songs sounded quite clunky, like bits of different songs thrown together to create a medley as opposed to a song. Yet PSY created an international storm with the release of 'Gangnam Style (강남스타일)' to YouTube during the summer. In just six months it's already surpassed 1 BILLION views on YouTube. I really can't see anything overtaking PSY on YouTube as his viewcount is only going to keep on increasing. If anything, PSY is more likely to hit 2 billion views than there is of another video overtaking. Also the fact the track only last week sold 111k in the UK - it's highest weekly sales yet shows this song is far from going anywhere. Expect to hear this tonight all across the UK, and all over the world as people start celebrating bringing in 2013.
December 31, 201212 yr Author http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Thumbnail_Images/HMV/2793491.JPG 04. Lana Del Rey - Born To Die [#1] Where 'Video Games' finished 2nd in my chart of 2011, 'Born To Die' finishes 4th in my chart of 2012. Concluding what has been an incredible year for Lana Del Rey. 'Born To Die' also successfully held the record for longest run at #1 in my chart right from the beginning of the year when it notched up six weeks at #1. Somewhat bizarrely this time last year there were already a handful of potential big hits just around the corner. Looking at the UK release schedule for early 2013, there doesn't appear to be any whatsoever. The next few weeks are certainly going to be interesting for the UK chart.
December 31, 201212 yr Author http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/woodkid-runboyrun.jpg 03. Woodkid - Run Boy Run [#1] What an amazing track. Discovered just two days after confirming 'In My Mind' into BJSC, I was all ready to change my entry until finding out Arrs had already confirmed the track. Where 'Video Games' was my ultimate favourite BJSC discovery of 2011, there's no doubt that 'Run Boy Run' has been by far my best discovery in 2012. Safe to say I'd regard Arrs' BJSC win as the best of the year with such a powerful track as this. The very fact a track like this could even win BJSC seemed like an achievement in itself. Whilst most of my Chart of 2012 has been dominated by female artists, Woodkid has proved to become the most successful male artist in my chart for 2012. It became one of the soundtracks of the summer firstly thanks to its use in the O2 Precision Sports TV commercials, and secondly the BBC for using 'Run Boy Run' as backing music for their VT's for Usain Bolt and Mo Farah during the London Olympics.
December 31, 201212 yr OPPAN SLAYTHEM STYLE! Very happy to see a K-Pop song in this countdown. Loving Woodkid as well! Shame I didn't quite click with it during BJSC, oh wells. :(
December 31, 201212 yr Author OPPAN SLAYTHEM STYLE! Very happy to see a K-Pop song in this countdown. Loving Woodkid as well! Shame I didn't quite click with it during BJSC, oh wells. :( :D I knew you would be happy with the result. Sadly not enough to be a contender for my #1 of 2012. As for Woodkid, some songs do take longer to click with people so it's all good. :D It's time to reveal which track is my #1 of 2012 but first let's see who just missed out in 2nd place... :o :D http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/flomac-spectrum.jpg 02. Florence & The Machine Spectrum (Calvin Harris Remix) [#1] Florence & The Machine scored her most successful single in my chart with the fantastic 'Spectrum (Say My Name)' although all credit goes to Calvin Harris whose remix of the track is the main reason why this track became such a big hit in my chart. Spending a total of 5 weeks at no. 1 in the summer, Florence falls short of being my #1 of 2012 but points wise it's wasn't exactly close. Which of course means... http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2012/loreen-euphoria.jpg 01. Loreen - Euphoria [#1] I have a horrible feeling that Loreen will triumph here, something that will make me most sad as you've had some really great #1s this year. So after all that, Dandy* was correct all along and Loreen ends 2012 as my #1 single of the year with 'Euphoria'. If you go into GD's EOY chart thread, he basically explains everything about this track brilliantly, so I won't plagiarise his comment by copying it here. Still, 'Euphoria' is such an incredible piece of dance/pop. When Loreen won Melodifestivalen, I'd seen comments on Buzzjack about how great this song was. Everytime I went to check the track out on YouTube, it was being blocked so in the end I gave up trying. It must've been a few weeks later I commented on GD's chart. Loreen had already been #1 for a few weeks and I'd still not heard the track. Along comes Tirren (remember him? :D ) with a link and I finally heard the track. In previous years I'd only charted Eurovision tracks after the final. That changed this year as I genuinely think 'Euphoria' is more than just a "Eurovision" track. It's as solid as most dance/pop tracks that regular artists release. The reaction on Buzzjack when Loreen made #1 on iTunes was both hilarious and brilliant. It didn't last. It couldn't because the forums crashed when Rudimental overtook but for a short while there was a Loreen forum on Buzzjack Backup whilst we waited for the main forums to get going again. So congratulations to Loreen and I await to see a load of comments like this one... Loreen FTW! ...over the next 24 hours. Dandy* currently crying into his keyboard. (but secretly likes 'Euphoria' :D ) Let's enjoy Loreen's Eurovision monster hit 'Euphoria' one final time for 2012. Below is what should've been the official music video: ezlv04Obiak

[218] Woodkid - Run Boy Run I love the instrumental of this, works great on the advert - but his voice puts me off I actually find Woodkid's vocals quite endearing. I wouldn't have guessed he was French though. :o 'Run Boy Run' is still incredible. 10. [154] Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl feat. Georgi Kay - In My Mind (Axwell Remix) Your best entry of the year! Thanks :D I hope to get at least one decent hit in BJSC in 2013, but it's a case of finding the right song that I adore and that others discover and equally love. 11. [153] Prance Faris - Flares An amazing entry here![/b Yes!!! The third best BJSC discovery after Woodkid and Gabrielle Aplin imo. 'Flares' really does sound a dance anthem in waiting. Perhaps someone should email Clubland with a link to this track. Thanks for your comments. Now that this is completed, I can comment in other charts.
January 1, 201312 yr spooky that was I call a Snap situation with Florence, unfortunately just missed out with Woodkid, peaked at #4. Great top 10 though, apart from Carly and Ivan Gough
