From ESC Xtra:

Three former winners of the Eurovision Song Contest will be performing at this year’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, DR announced this morning.

Brotherhood of Man, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1976 for the United Kingdom will be part of the event in Herning, as will two-time Irish winner Johnny Logan. Completing the line up are the Herreys who won for Sweden in 1984. All three will be performing in the BOXEN on 26 January.

The line-up for this year’s competition will be presented on 16 January.

Denmark always seem to have very good entries, so looking forward to this national final!

Performing as guests, I presume?

I'm looking forward to this, last year's line-up was pretty stellar. Jesper Nohrstedt, Karen Viuff, and of course the indomitable Ditte Marie were all total 11/10 entrants and most of the others were at least a 7.

Finalists announced, clips can be heard here

01 Frederikke Vedel - Jeg har hele tiden vidst det (Really nice slice of electro-pop)

02 Brinck - Human (MOR acoustic track, nowhere near as good as Believe Again)

03 Kate Hall - I Am Not Alone (This year's token schlager pop track, pretty decent)

04 Louise Dubiel - Rejs dig op (Another decent pop track, sounds a bit like Aura Dione I suppose)

05 Daze - We Own the Universe (A proper Eurodance moment!)

06 Simone Egeriis - Awake (Generic female pop track, sounds like something that would easily come 10th in BJSC)

07 Jack Rowan feat. Sam Gray - Invincible (Fairly modern sounding/slightly generic dance track)

08 Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops (This one sounds a lot more like Aura Dione than Louise Dubiel's track did actually. Like a Celtic version of Geronimo I guess)

09 Albin - Beautiful to Me (The token boring pop/rock track sung by a male. I fear another 2008/9 moment when Denmark plumps for this over something that's far more amazing)

10 Mohamed - Unbreakable (The biggest name amongst the selection I'd say. A former X Factor contestant with a track that sounds a bit like Danny Saucedo's Amazing, but not quite as amazing)

Not a bad song here at all, my favourite based on the clips is Frederikke Vedel's track though.

01 Frederikke Vedel - Jeg har hele tiden vidst det

xx OOOH could be a big grower. Sounds nice.

02 Brinck - Human

xx Boring.

03 Kate Hall - I'm Not Alone

xx Doing nothing for me too.

04 Louise Dubiel - Rejs dig op

xx One of the only two Danish-language tracks. How disappointing there's only 2. But the song sounds good. COULD very well be this year's Soluna.

05 Daze - We Own the Universe

xx Extremely dated. Sounds like a 2007 song really. Not good.

06 Simone Egeriis - Awake

xx Generic and the way she sings that final 'awake' is quite BAD tbh. Not Rihanna's 'business' bad but still bad.

07 Jack Rowan feat. Sam Gray - Invincible

xx OOOOH me likey. Me likey a lot.

08 Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops

xx The Celtic notes are good. And the whole vibe is fab. Could be my favourite after hearing the full songs.

09 Albin - Beautiful to Me

xx Annoying even judging from the 30-second clip. FLUSH

10 Mohamed - Unbreakable

xx Can't hear the actual melody. It's nothing of a song really. Disappointing to see Mohamed of all people getting it.

DAAAAAAAAAZE  Anyone remember the Tamagotchi song? Short of having Aqua and Alphabeat that's about as good as the Danish NF could get
Only Teardrops is the only remotely exciting song out of those clips. A lot of the others are nice but Emmelie's was the only one that made me sit up.

Denmark will never go for it, but I adore that Frederikke track  I'm also loving the Kate Hall track, but again it won't go anywhere. Brinck's track is beyond dull, but sadly I can see it at least reaching the final stages of voting in DMGP.
All o' dem tracks have now leaked ~

WHERE is that blog this year, I can't find any of the MP3's anywhere :( I need Denmark, Norway and Germany's songs on my iPod NOW!

'Only Teardrops' is just incredible! Going to listen to the rest now!

I'm lost this year without that blog! :drama:

Okay, it's SHAMEFUL but I'm LURVING 'Invincible'. The most out of everyone probably.

My favourites here are I'm Not Alone, Only Teardrops and Unbreakable based on the first listen. The most MOR offerings are Human and Beautiful To Me so no doubt Denmark will be picking one of these. I do like nearly every song here but there's not Eurovision winner amongst them.

What baffles me the most is that each and every year Denmark provides us with 10 songs that I can neither hate nor like a LOT. So confusing. Just ONE massive song PLEASE.

Okay, after a couple of days of listening here are my rankings

I think the superfinal will consist of Mohamed (duh), Brinck (duh x2) and Frederikke / Emmelie.

Apart from last year's winner, the only song that I ever REALLY loved from DMGP was 'Sleepless' by Anna Noa. All the other songs over the years have been 'good' at best. Denmark, hvad skete der? :(
