Posted August 17, 200618 yr Madonna's German shows under scrutiny Source: Music Week German prosecutors are to monitor Madonna's Dusseldorf concert on Sunday to determine whether her mock crucifixion insults religious beliefs. However, they have said they will rely on media reports of the segment where Madonna also wears a crown of thorns, rather than sending their own observers to the concert. Vatican Cardinal Ersilio Tonino, with the Pope's approval, has said the concert is a "blasphemous challenge to the faith" and has called for Madonna to be excommunicated. However, the singer's spokesperson Liz Rosenberg has denied the show is "disrespectful toward the church".
