Plus if there’s anything I know for a fact, it’s that self improvement can be really fucking hard! Having the hope and optimism to set those goals is one thing (it’s the new year, we all wanna feel good in the moment), following through is a different beast entirely. Some people have the strength of will to make that difference, plenty of people just don’t - and I’m certainly no exception to the latter……..yeah. I must say though…..ever since the extraction, I’ve felt….lighter. As if I’ve been unshackled from the metaphorical chains weighing me down. It’s the best I’ve felt in a while, like I’m no longer being plagued by weakness, as though they’ve taken a hoover to my soul and sucked it straight out. Those voices only got louder as Xiu Xiu's Pumpkin Attack On Mommy And Daddy smashed the Top 10 recently, with many deeming the song and its accompanying visuals "degenerate" and inappropriate for primetime television. "I was watching this supposedly family friendly event with my 5 young kids, who were left mentally scarred after being subjected to that crude and indecent entry from Trifoski. Y'know, I assumed bullying was one of those things I'd have left behind in high school - yet here I am over a decade later....and sadly life isn't an object show where I can just rely on the viewers to eliminate the mean character immediately, thus I have to endure their varying shades of harassment. From smartass ribbing like "what are the voices in your head saying today?", to "How Seven's Mental State FELL OFF: A 7-Hour Video Analysis" to most recently accusations of me having ""main character syndrome"". That was the last straw for me, I shut out the social media trolls and went for a long walk It was around 7-8pm, pitch darkness illuminated only by the street lights, and something oddly magical occurred. I was walking along as normal for a while, airpods plugged in as the sound of post-rock guitars filled my eardrums....soon I found myself walking faster, to the point I was practically running. But why? What exactly was I running after? Nonetheless, when that angelic vocal refrain emerged, I let go of all my inhibitions - freely bounding around the night street, swinging from the lamp posts, and flipping the bird to any passers-by who dared to shoot weird looks at me. It was a strange yet cathartic five minutes, one that'll no doubt stick with me for years to come... Was this something beautiful and resonant, or just me making a fool out of myself in public? Just thought I'd pop by to wish you all a happy holidays, as much as there's only a few hours remaining of Christmas day and most of that seasonal joy and energy has likely evaporated. Or perhaps wasn't even there to begin with, since I realize it can be a stressful time for many. That's why, during the festive season, I believe it is worth sparing a thought for those less fortunate than you. One particular example being.......me, of course. I've been ruthlessly tag-teamed by a stuffy nose and a chesty cough for these past few days, quite the inconvenience for someone who needs to partake in "musical research" for a living. Of course I'm completely fine now, so I don't require your sympathy, however it's worth noting this is merely a temporary respite, and the far more arduous seasonal allergies are right around the corner. Is my life just a never-ending cycle of misery? Or am I simply a whiny bitch who has it better than most? That's up to you I suppose, I ain't gonna tell you what to think.
