When Hollywood makes a movie from an old TV series, is it a good idea or are they just running out of ideas.

More often than not it is either pretty awful or average at best, there are very few examples where a film improves the series.

Some bad examples in the past have been.... The saint,The avengers,Lost in space.

Others include...Kojac,Dukes of Hazzard

I suppose the jury is still out on Miami Vice,Starsky and hutch.

Has there ever been a really good example, or are they all bad. Should Hollywood give up on the TV series franchise or should they dig up more. The rumour is the next one might be the Prisoner :o , will this be another bad move, taking a classic TV series and giving the Hollywood spin. Another one in the pipeline is the Persuaders.

i thought the Prisoner remake was gonna be a sky tv thing.
