How to Save A Life clicked with me when I watched the music video. It's not brilliant, but it's not terrible either.

I bought the album on the back of it. Three listens later, it went to the charity shop. Very disappoiting.

Do the record companies or iTunes decide what songs get discounted?

The concept of iTunes (or any other digital shop) discounting is a bit puzzling to me. I could understand it back in the days of physical product; it was a way of getting rid of stocks. But in the digital age? I just can't quite get it, honestly.
Dirty Love needs to be released next from Ke$Ha, it's the only worthwhile song on the album besides Die Young. It's such a step down from her immaculate debut.

Both. iTunes have that 59p page, where they have that list of 59p songs which they change every couple of weeks. But a record label can still discount anything whenever they want.

Oh yeah! I liked that Fray track too.

iTunes want to make money, so they discount songs that people will buy into. Despite iTunes getting less profit from a sale of a 59p song than they do a 99p song, they'd prefer a song at #30 on 59p than at #300 on 99p.

Of course, sometimes record labels reduce songs to 59p, so that more people buy them - but they will get less profit from the sale. (I think)

And after a dose of gentrified folk, a good dose of proper populist dance music to cheer things up! :D
One of my favourite songs of all time now!!!

As much as I love the song, no. That would be a HUGE disaster as a single.

I still think 'Don't You Worry Child' will become an eventual million seller. Thoroughly deserved it would be too.

If they can do a promotion and sell 1000 copies at 59p rather than sell 400 at 99p, everyone's a winner (sort of)

I think reducing songs is also a way to get more people onto iTunes. If someone sees that their favourite song is 59p they may go on to buy it, and buy another song or two at the same time.

It's common though in trade. Discount are not just for getting rid of old stock but generating also demand and turnover.

I do too. Eventually though. as it should take a while
