Thanks, hasso. I enjoyed that, but that youtube problem which makes videos that work perfectly fine elsewhere get really out of synch, really annoys me. It seems to happen every time they're played.

 

When I had dial up something similar used to happen with videos but once they were fully downloaded I didn't have any other problem.

 

However the ones on youtube play the same way every time. Surely they could fix them without people needing to re-upload them.

 

 

 

 

One of our clever members on GPG knows the problem, she says they need to be converted to some other whatever, sorry, I am not technical at all, lol But the ones she has put up dont have the problem, that people think its mimed when its ovious its not, but looks like it non the less. :blink:

I had a comment on one of my Darius videos, that he was miming :o God some people are just so thick, it amazes me they know how to type :rolleyes:

Its so obvious the difference between running out of synch and miming. Anyone who is really interested in music should be able to see the difference :D

I picked up a copy of Gareths book on a market stall yesterday. There is a small bit about Darius - heres a quote re pop idol

 

Darius was at these auditions - he was like a star to some people because he had been on popstars. it was the first time I had met him and he took a shine to me - we played guitar together when we were sitting around the theatre, we played Extremes More than words. we all went out on the last night and I chatted to Darius a lot and got to know him a bit then.

 

 

I think Darius also mentions Gareth in Sink Or Swim. I'll see if I can find any references.

 

If Darius had written an autobiography as the stupid media claimed, there'd be an index at the back. Since he didn't, I'll just have to skim and scan. :D

 

OT Simon's mum Julie, a big fan of Darius in PI, was injured recently in a road accident. She's 80 but very sprightly and as an ex-dancer was still doing aerobics daily. She's apparently making good progress.

I have Simons book also and remember always the quote where he says Darius has the most charisma of the final three and also remember him saying his mum loved Darius.

I've found the first reference to Gareth in SoS.

 

The Pop Idol callbacks were in London and we all stayed at the Marriott Hotel in Maida Vale. Over the next few days we would be whittled down from one hundred contestants to fifty. I met Will Young and Gareth Gates on the first day.

 

He then talks a bit about Will.

 

I got on with Gareth from the start. Although we were in a room full of people, I couldn't help noticing the handsome guy with gelled spiky hair in a shiny grey-blue two-tone suit and polished black shoes. He was the only guy in a suit, which I thought was great. He and his mum approached me as I was sitting on a leather couch, waiting for instructions from the judges. We shook hands and had a chat. I warmed to him quickly.

 

Gareth told me he really respected me for entering Pop Idol. 'People got you wrong on Popstars,' he said. I think he was looking for a bit of reassurance, so we sat on the couch and talked for a while. I remember thinking he was very much someone with a dream. His mum was very supportive of him. That night I talked to her about the Gates family in the laundry room of the hotel, while she was pressing Gareth's suit and I ironed my shirt.

The boys got on so well, it'd be a shame if the people who supported them didn't.

In Simons book he also says that his mother was like a young girl when Darius was around (dont we know) and that his friends were in awe of Darius.

Re the link dont seem to work, but the word at the end 'myself', makes me think its one of the 2 songs we found online, who we think are only demos and did not actually make the album.

 

But thanks ever so much for bringing it to our attention, I got really excited thinking it might be of the album. :D

Didn't work for me, but it looks from the link title to be 'Face Myself', one of two demos found a while back.

The other one was called 'Something Right'

 

We assume that, given that they have been floating round for a while, they won't be on the album, but they were a great tonic when they were found.
