December 28, 200618 yr I also just watched the Maria program and thought like you did, that is how it should have been done. But then BBC1 was behind it, and wanted Maria to be shown as a success. I am afraid that probably ITV wanted the angle on Gareth having had success and now done nothing, which of course is not true. Gareth written about 100 new songs, worked very hard on his speech and done his instructing. By the way the thing he said about being successful in 10 years was done in joke, like the pantomime thing. He actually sounded quite nervous to me, and the way he seemed aware that there is definitely no guarantee he will have success again showed that I think. If 19 had all the say in this program, then I would be worried too. I am thinking maybe they let have ITV their angle as long as they brought in some of the music and let have Gareth the good time slot? :( I just hope that they will get the promotion of the music right, and I am pleased to see lots of people quite liked the bits they heard. :D
December 28, 200618 yr I have to say I only watch a small bit......I got fed up :( Not with Gareth but the filmimg of it...it was very poor. He asked for something to be cut and they didn't and a bit was cut and it show...very bad. BUT...on a positive side...my son said he liked the song he played on his lap top and if that was an example of his new music it was good :D I will watch it again when I have the time to sit and think. December 29, 200618 yr I will watch it again when I have the time to sit and think. I hope you do watch it again if you only watched the first bit. The last 20 minutes was the best part of the whole program. The program makers actually seemed to get their act together by then and we got lots of the more important bits, like the signing of a new Record Deal
December 29, 200618 yr Author Greasemania is being shown again this morning at 11.35 ITV1. If you missed it Darius and Gareth both on it.
December 29, 200618 yr Just finished watching it. Didn't they both look so young back then. Bit different now :D Good to see it again though.
December 29, 200618 yr I think both Gareth and Darius managed to walk the line between fond tribute and a completely fresh take on their songs. In fact, I can't think of any others on the show who didn't stick close to the film versions of the songs. I was nervous about Darius singing Sandy, especially after listening to and watching John Travolta on Dvd. I thought it was the weakest song in the film, a particularly poor and sentimental ballad. Of course I knew Darius could sing it and sing it well....actually now I'd quite like to hear him sing it straight, (you know, give it some West End Razzle Dazzle) but back then I thought he'd been stitched up again by the choice of song. I nearly clapped with joy when he suddenly rocked it up.
January 3, 200718 yr Am I dreaming? I thought there was a link to Gareth's myspace on here and now I can't find it. I searched on myspace and found one but it doesn't have any new tracks and it's got 'none' for record label. That's not right so I think it must be a fan site not the official one.
January 3, 200718 yr Its http://www.myspace.com/garethgatesmyspace but there is no music up on it yet. :( The only place I know to listen to any snippets of the music taken from the documentary is http://garethpaulgates.net/news.html. They are on the little player thingie at the top right had corner
January 4, 200718 yr Thanks, Sybil. I found it and read Gareth's 2 messages. Shame there's no musicplayer.
January 4, 200718 yr I am sure it will happen eventually. Can't expect 19 to be on top of things - they never have been before!! Ah well. If you are interested, a Korean fan has very cleverly put a couple of the snippets of the new songs on youtube with stills from the programme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15aTwa1FfFw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U__ZfohQoko
January 4, 200718 yr Thanks for those links Sybil. They are very nice aren't they. I love this new music
January 7, 200718 yr well I've heard his second song.....and like it ......will watch more later
January 9, 200718 yr Thanks for those links Sybil. They are very nice aren't they. I love this new music  I agree wholeheartedly.
January 13, 200718 yr Good to see Gareth listed on the new releases. Even if it's tbc, there's a date and that's always good.
January 13, 200718 yr Good to see Gareth listed on the new releases. Even if it's tbc, there's a date and that's always good. Wow....things are moving!! He wasn't on the list last week when I looked. Not long to wait either!! :D Julie
January 13, 200718 yr I'm surprised to see it scheduled for the same week as Emma Bunton. I hope it doesn't happen but I wouldn't be surprised if one was moved. We know all about shuffling release schedule dates - Mercury mucked about with some of D's so much that even I hadn't a real grasp on when it was coming out and Darius himself would often get it wrong in interviews. Rushes was moved several times and with it the release date of Dive In too. It was IMHO a shambles. However regrettable, once is acceptable, but it happened several times to D and to Sinead and David as well.
January 13, 200718 yr Oh wow this is the first I have heard of it, we are not aware, so thanks, have to run and look now.
January 13, 200718 yr I honestly can't see that being the right release date. That would give Gareth no time at all for any promotion. Its good to see it there though. Its one step nearer the actual release :D
January 13, 200718 yr Author Caught a bit of the Hits channel this afternoon. Top 20 reality stars. Unfortunately I only caught it at no.6 and that was Gareth, no.5 was liberty x, no.4 Lemar, no.3 Kelly clarkson, no.2 Girls aloud and you can guess no.1. Dont know where D was but wouldnt mind if he wasnt there.
January 13, 200718 yr I did not see the program today, but a few weeks ago when it was on then, I think Darius was on with Colourblind, a song I still love. :D
