From saturdays daily star joe mott. Headed one over Gates. Gareth gates has hinted at a little problem with alchohol. The singer said I wrote a song for my mum, whose always been there for me. even when I was having one too many drinks over the years, Gareth is heading for a comeback with a new rockier sounding single OUT IN MAY. I wonder if he will be out on the tequilas anytime soon. Bet his mum wouldnt be too pleased about that.

You never can tell with Joe Mott, but I wonder if he's referring to a second more rocky single at the end of May. Those who went to the secret gig say there are several rocky songs on the album, so it could well be :dance:

I don't know about changes.. I meansounds like a beautiful lyrics but I simply adore Lost in you :) maybe it will be the second single.. :)

Eggie, we think that the start is the morning after so to speak, also Gareth singing the song.

We also think he is invited to a party, his ex is there with her new boyfriend and oviously still likes him very much, the bf gets jelous, lol has a go at the girl, Gareth steps in and they have a fight, (by the look of the room at the beginning ), and everyone is sad. lol

Hmmm, interesting theory... I thought that Gareth comes to the party, and there's this girl who's interested in him and her boyfriend's kinda freaking out and then they have this fought. That the song is sung from the view of this guy and Gareth is the third in this relationship...

I haven't posted about this because I found 'Changes' boring and felt that it was wrong to benegative about someone else's favorite. I've listened to it several times and now love it. If it gets radio play, it should do really well. If it doesn't - it wont have the chance to grow on people and it is a definate grower. It just doesn't work as background music. Although I've always thought Gareth was a nice person and talented, this is the first of his records I've actually liked.

That is exactly what lots of Gareth's fans have said about Changes. It definitely needs to be listened to several times. Now for me, every time I listen to it, I like it more, especially the second chorus. Although I just melt at the tone of Gareth's voice on the verses.

Its very brave of him I think, to choose this kind of song, especially not knowing how much exposure he was going to get from airplay and the media. I just hope it does well enough on its release to get people interested and wanting to hear it again and possibly do better in subsequent weeks.

 

 

The same. Until it finally grew in me I thought it was kinda boring although I'm his fan. I like better the second album, but after it, I hope, this one will replace it :) Changes is a beautiful song and Lost in you is even better :D

Thanks Megham for saying that you now like it, and I understand you not liking it before, it definitely needs more then 1 listen. Not sure if Gareth will get air play enough to make people change their minds though. To be honest, I think he will have it hard, but I do hope regardless of where this will chart, that he carries on, he said himself he is realistic. With his next release (probably an upbeat one) he might get played on the radios more.

I also have the feeling that we might only get the album after release no 2. because I am sure we would have been told already if the release for the album would be soon after this song.

 

I agree with you Hasso. It seems those prejudices are still there. This is definitely a song that needs to be listened to a few times, but if Gareth can't get the airplay, he's going to have to rely on his appearances on TV for an audience. Its such a shame, because this really is a beautiful song and sung with such feeling. I'm thankful Gareth was realistic about this comeback and wasn't expecting Rome to be built in a day. I think there's almost certain to be a second single before the album gets released. Perhaps by then people will be prepared to give him a listen.

I like Changes and I'll be buying it when it's released physically. I think there will probably be at least one original b-side to look forward to. I can't see much possibility of a remix of Changes, thank goodness. I really hate remixes, especially ones that distort a good singer's voice. I just don't get what that's all about.

I didn't say he wasn't going to be. I just hope he is. Sometimes radio stations here decide not to give an artist a fair chance.
