"I know D's recording is going well. "

Do you also happen to know which genre(s) he's leaning towards, megham?

quote from meg - Gigs would be VERY expensive to get to. I know D's recording is going well. I just lack patience - there's just so much waiting involved - as you know just too well.

I do see where you are coming from but it is quite the norm with a number of artistes to have a gap between releases of albums and to have what is a quieter period some more high profile than others ie. anastacia, sophie ellis bexter, daniel bedingfield, dido, craig david and many more and in Ds case it is barely 3 months since his five month stint in chicago which other artistes havent done and which must have been quite exhausting. Some artistes who have been going years and years longer than D are only starting a fourth album and his will be his third in a shorter period.I think the waiting is worse without seeing him in the media which I do think is worrying (out of sight out of mind as it were) and dont understand his management in this.

Out of sight, out of mind is a powerful effect but right now I do believe it's a reasonable price to pay to allow Darius to focus on creating the album. When it's ready, that's when his management team need to get their fingers out. Tbh I don't think I've ever seen any publicity when artists/groups are actually writing and recording, apart from an occasional line speculating on which producers they may be working with. When the album is ready, sometimes footage of the recording process is used - for example on the Dive In documentary and probably some will feature in gareth's forthcoming TV documentary.

An exception I think will be Coldplay. They've just bought a place and are building their own studio and that is already getting quite a bit of coverage.

How could B19 court publicity for Darius now? D would have to do something for the tabloids/mags to run with over here. He's not getting fat, isn't anorexic, isn't cheating on Natasha, isn't getting drunk/drugged and obnoxious, in and out of drying out clinics, punching photographers, being rude to fans, isn't on celebrity whatever or prepared to do "at home with" stuff for OK or Hello and open up his private family life ...err I've run out of items they feature.

Nor can he be snapped by the London paps doing everyday things. Heat seem to love to feature those on 3 or 4 page spreads - you know, like the really gripping ones they've run before - Darius shops in a supermarket, Darius takes a bus, Darius buys orange juice from a petrol station early in the morning.

If the only pictures coming out of LA are party, premiere, high life ones, the public are going to think that's all he's doing and you'll get the "turning up to the opening of an envelope" criticisms gleefully spread about by the usual bunch.

It's a fine balance.

Looks like the video recorder will have to be on. I look forward to seeing it.

I'll set the recorder too, as soon as I get the code for the videoplus. That way I won't forget in the Christmas rush.

I hope they showcase the new music well.

Its really exciting for us, at long last after 3 years waiting we get Gareth back. We believe that they will showcase a little of Gareth new music on this program. I cant wait. :cheer:
That makes me smile. It's lovely when something nice happens - especially when you've been waiting.

Exciting isn't the word Hasso. I'm getting beside myself with anticipation. I think its almost definite that some of the new music will be shown on this program. Dying to know what its going to be like after all this time :cheer:

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments :D

Any hint of a title for the album or a release date for the lead single.

What a great Christmas for all Gareth's fans.

I'd love to have Darius back in the UK at Christmas time but that's just a selfish wish. After all, he was here working over Christmas and New Year last time.

Better he spends his first Christmas with Natasha and the boys. Doesn't mean I won't miss him being around though. No Christmas medleys this year, no off the wall fun interviews.

Still, hopefully there will be plenty Gareth ones instead.

Not a hint of a date yet. Perhaps at the gig or in the Documentary we'll get some sort of idea on schedules. At least we're a step closer

I'm hoping for a few appearances on one or two shows in the run up to Christmas. I'm being greedy now

More great news on the thread in the pop forum. I hope as many of Gareth's loyal fans as possible can see him. It's all kicking off.

It's nice to see the thread in the pop forum being respected.

I don't intend to post there, but it's not because I'm not interested in Gareth or all that's coming up.

The documentary may be a week earlier now on the 16th.

Great day for some of Gareth's fans. Intimate gig today for a group of lucky fans who will get to hear his new music. I think we all know how fantastic that is.

Well done, hasso, for winning a ticket.

Got very mixed feeling today. Totally thrilled for everyone who won tickets, but absolutely gutted that I didn't. Hope we get loads of new pictures brought back, if they're allowed to take them :D

I'm really looking forward to hearing Hasso's news and I'm really feeling excited for all of Gareth's fans!! The waiting is horrible, but it's worth it in the end.....

Posted this on the pop forum also.

From the 3 am. girls daily mirror today.

quote - It looked like the end of the road for Gareth gates when he was dropped by Sony earlier this year but the pop idol runner up isnt through with the music biz just yet. He's signed a massive new deal with Universal and we hear his new album will be out next April. The 22 year old whose managed by pop guru Simon Fuller, says he's had loads of input on the new record so fingers crossed there wont be any cheesey covers - we still havent recovered from Unchained melody.

What I find a bit annoying about that report is the cheesey covers bit - Darius wrote all his stuff on the albums no covers and yet he got lots of stick and still does. Other people churn out covers like emma bunton and get praise all the time.

wierd isnt it.. sometimes I do wonder at the medias double standards..

good for gareth,

but I am so missing Darius music.. it seems I know what everyone esle is up to, and they all seem so busy..I wish I knew just a bit of what Darius is doing and what career moves he is making....

You know I hate that cheesey label - they stick it on any artist they don't personally like and I hate it even more coming from them,

because certainly with regard to Darius, they do that in their column and then fawn all over him when they're at the same events.

They'll be squirming and eating humble pie in the Spring.

As for Darius, with Christmas coming up, I think if he's in LA, he will be torn between his work and home life.

I've accepted that Darius is very much into family and more so since his father's illness and at times that will be more important to him than anything else. Like Gareth, Simon Fuller is giving him as much time as he needs/wants to come up with his 3rd album so he doesn't need to work ridiculous hours to get something finished and crash on sofas in studios like he had to with Dive In.

He wasn't in LA last Christmas so knowing him, I think he'll want to make that up, particularly to the 2 boys. Children as young as that are out of the Christmas trap as soon as you light that candle and open the first door on the advent calendar. I think he was over here at Christmas 2004 as well, so although he's lived in LA for virtually 2 years this would be his first American Christmas.
