Magia

http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/180/shakiramagia5cj.th.jpg

Magia (Magic) is Colombian born musician Shakira's debut album. The songs are a collection penned by her since she was 8, however it was hampered by a lack of recording and production cohesion and did not fare well commercially. Shakira recorded this CD with Sony Colombia in 1991, at the age of 13. Only 900 copies were sold and the album is now a sought after collectors item.

Peligro

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/8551/shakirapeligro9sv.jpg

Peligro (Danger) is Colombian born musician Shakira's second album. It was released in 1993, through Sony Colombia, when Shakira was just 15. This album fared little better than her 1991 debut effort Magia, and although Sony saw her artistic potential, Shakira decided to take a break from recording and graduate from high school. The recording itself is a relatively good collection of self-penned songs but is marred but a lack of cohesive production. The title originated after Shakira was turned down from appearing at the OTI Music Festival in Spain, because she was underage. Sony decided to stop promoting the album, as the singles/album did nothing on charts, and they felt that the album was more about the producers than shakira. After Peligro flopped, There were rumours that Sony was planning on dropping Shakira from there label. She took time off to star in a novela, which she also wrote and sang the theme tune to, then went back in the studio to make a song for an album of various latin artists

Pies Descalzos was the album that saved Shakira. A breath of fresh air to the music industry, it was the biggest selling album Sony Colombia ever had. they had never had sales like that before. The debut song 'Donde Estas Corazon' was a number 1 in Colombia for 11 weeks. It launched her around the world, and the music is acoustic Latin folk/pop. Her debut U.S. song 'Estoy Aqui' reached 5 on the latin chart and her first performace in U.S was to a crowd of 50,000 people. Unfortunately 2 fans were trampled to death, and shakira nearly gave up. Luckily, she carried on. Pies Descalzos means 'Bare Feet' in english and is the name of her charity foundation

¿Donde Estan Los Ladrones?

http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/5646/donde3gz.th.jpg

(Spanish for "Where are the thieves?") is an album by Shakira, released in 1998.

Shakira's 4th album, ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? sold over 1 million copies on the U.S. alone, and close to 4 million copies worldwide (although the exact quantity is unknown). Though the album did not surface well on the Billboard 200, peaking at #131, the album is one of the highest selling Spanish-languague albums in the United States. The album's name refers to a trip where Shakira's bag (which contained the album's lyrics) was stolen (the lesson is, never let your dad carry anything around for you :lol: ). This made Shakira want to stop writing the album, luckily, her family made her carry on. Thank god they did, coz she produced what is regarded not only as her best recording, but one of the best ever latin albums in history

MTV Uplugged was performed in 2000. It is composed by acoustic songs played by Shakira on the MTV program that gives artists the chance to give their songs a whole new meaning in front of an intimate crowd. The program was recorded live in August, 1999 in New York City, New York, it is rated as one of her best-ever live performances, and showed off her amazing vocals and musical skills, and paved the way for her successful English cross-over recording Laundry Service. This was the first part of her conquest for world domination. She was the first Latin artist to do an MTV unplugged, and was the first latin unplugged to be broadcast on regular mtv to this day.

Brief descriptions of albums, but I will ad more info when I have time :D

Cheers! Good work!

I don't think there was a Spanish version of UYC. Te Dejo Madrid was released to Spanish countries when UYC was released to everywhere else.

Didn't know Quiero was released off PD either, very interesting, I do like Quiro but I don't think it's that good. Te Espero Sentado is my fave but that was released a B-side to Estoy Aqui.

I never realised there was a spanish UYC, but it says Colombian vip promo, so it must be very rare, odd how I havent heard it though.

I love Estoy Aqui, but I much prefer the MTV Unplugged version :wub:

I didnt realise Las De La Intuicion was gonna be the next FO1 single either (so soon as well), seems they havent given DDE a chance. I heard La Pared was gonna be the next single for Spain.

Im having trouble finding the 12 track remix album as well, I can only find the 9 track :(

I'm 99.99999% sure that there isn't a Spanish UYC. That title is just a translation of UYC. Te Dejo Madrid was released as the Spanish song while UYC was doing the rounds. The videos even have the same director.

And I don't think LDLI has been confirmed. It was jsut a rumour I think because it got added to Verizon as a ringtone or something.

Oh and about the Remixes. The only reason I bought it was because it had the Portugese versions. The remixes are $h!t really except about two of them. All the shops in the UK stock the 9 track, however the I got mine from the HMV site;

http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProduct...1;-1&sku=933173

Make sure you buy the one that was released in 1997 or this American one from Amazon;

o wow thanks :wub:

Ive never heard the spanish UYC, coz people would have talked about it even if they hadn't heard it, and im sure somebody would have leaked it if it did exist.

I love the Portugese version of Estoy Aqui, I think she should a LS thing, except with majority of tracks in Portugese, and the others in Spanish, coz lots of Portugese speaking fans really want her to release some portugese stuff

Yeah, there was a rumour that she was going to record La Tortura in Portugese because it wasn't as successful in Brazil...but that never materialised.

BTW, WW and Estoy Aqui were released as singles from L&OTR but only to European countries.

  • Author

I shall change :D

Ill get rid of the spanish UYC thing as well

  • Author

Lol no problem :D

Because I didn't have time to type it all up earlier, I copied it off wikipedia, but after I finish my hwk, I'll start to put it into my own words, and go into more detail, as I think that the ones from wikipedia are very basic
