I agree. I think the days of massive selling albums are over. Unless it's middle of the road fodder aimed at the older market (like me :P ).

Weedle..You are not on your own..Im not that old yet but I happen to be a collector of Albums ( the CD in your hand type ... with all the artwork, etc ) so I will always buy physical albums if I can. Nowadays the kids are not really interested in a hard copy or a complete album ... I think that Tim Clark IE Music was alluding to this a few months ago when he mentioned about how musicians have to change their marketing strategies & how the album is only one part of a complete package. I think we will see only a few artists rising to the top & staying there as album sales alone will not carry someone through their music career in the future... they will also have to raise revenue from advertising etc.. like Rob .

Im not at all surprised why TT still mention Rob quite a lot .... his name is big in advertising revenue.. T.Mobile... Sony Ericsson..Xbox Microsoft & many more & not only in Europe but South America & Asia as well. RoB is a big name out there & TT know that and tours cost quite a lot of money so to have Rob on board for even one gig would benefit them enormously...sorry if Im being cynical.. but its a fact..... any profit TT make from a tour has to go four ways after everyone has been paid.

That's me being totally cynical... but its a fact of life.

Has GB forgiven RW.... -_- money talks I suppose.....

But it don't sing and dance and it don't walk. ;)

I agree. I like to have my paws on an actual CD. :cheer:

I guess its just me, but in what Barlow was quoted as saying, it didn't sound to me like he actually said that he's forgiven Rob. I think the press just like to twist things around, you know making Barlow look the good boy that he is  and how big of him to forgive Rob .... yawn

Instead of forgiving Rob he should apologize to him but .... you can't always get what you want

As for the downloading, I do it but its so impersonal and cold. Somehow it doesn't have the same meaning, for me, than buying the physical cd but its the way of the future so we all have to get used to it. I guess I can do without the actual cd single, but I hope they keep the physical cd albums around for longer.

I do believe that most of percieved aggro is being caused mainly by the Tabloids in the Uk rather than by people in the music industry etc as it suits the press to carry on the RW / TT saga... sells more papers for them. I personally dont think that the rift between Gary & Rob has been healed... maybe all the guys will get together for a couple of songs during the tour later this year for old times sake but I can never see Rob going back full time to TT ... he is a huge solo artist for years now & continues to be & is also huge outside the UK . Rob & Gary ... well I dont see that one working.... too much water under the bridge & that... . Gary not my cup of tea really ....he is too pally with Louis Walsh ( & that's enough as far as I am concerned ).

On the CD issue.. hopefully we will be still able to get CD's... I had read somewhere last year that the record companies would still make CD's but they would be more limited editions & of course would be more expensive but when it comes to Rob I dont mind. I do think that Rudebox was experimental but it does show how versatile Rob is & what ideas he has... so its interesting times ahead I think. B)

I am so looking forward to what Rob & Mark come up with next.. I get the feeling that those two guys could really click on the next album.. Mark is an excellent producer... If his work on Versions is anything to go by then Robs' next one could be brilliant. Robs' not gonna lie down & die for the press.. he will be back better that ever. ;)

Following on from you Tessat, you know what annoys me? that word 'JOIN' Take That. It has got everyone thinking he is going back in the band full time, the people I talk to seem to actually think that Robbie is going back to sing behind Gary Barlow and dance. I mean this has got to be laughable how the British public have worked out what Robbie would do when he 'JOINED' Take That. If he joined TT it would not be him going back full time. I never thought he would be, so why can't some of these idiots see that.

The press have actually downsized Robbie solo success and that is what makes me very, very cross. And why when a solo performer who performed to 3.6 million people want to go back full time with Take That, as perceived by many. Ok they sold their concert tickets in the UK and are performing to huge crowds but so would Robbie, and why would he want to start again in mainland Europe with the band anyway. Some venue's Take That are performing to are for 8,400 capacity. Which is the amount of people that Robbie started his career off attracting. Come on British public work it out for yourselves please.

I would prefer Robbie to look ahead, not backwards and, maybe he could try the US next. The time could be right.

back to Rudebox. Love the album, it gets better and better on every listen. :cheer:

Oh well, it has done fantastically globally considering absolutelly no work was put into promotion by Robbie. I mean what albums are mege successful these days without any sort of promotion?

EMI should be happy with 3m +, I do wonder thought how much it would've sold if a bit of bloody effort had've been put into the whole thing  And also without all the endless negetivity from the press. <_<

I am hoping to get another 2 copies if I can find somewhere selling them..my lads have nicked all mine.

Well I doubt it would be sold out anywhere sadly. :( I've seen it quite cheap (£6 I think) in some places. ^_^

Scotty.. In fairness this is Ireland that we are talking about with their musical taste plastered to their backsides.

Any audience that would have selected that guy from Wexford that won that Search FoR A Star ( or whatever it was called ) on TV deserve everything they get.

I dont know in the name of God what has happened to music tastes in Ireland in recent years if the charts here are anything to go by,... its downright embarrassing...

I see loads of JT's albums left in the shops as well & also Chemical Romance & he Killers.... no the Irish like their Daniels & Westlife, etc..... :( :( :( :( :( :(

BTE ... Girls Aloud are breaking up... so what is Louis going to do now... The B*****D.......... Sorry.....

I know

But it is not much better in the UK tbh, the charts look so similar, all the same c**p. Although songs seem to last much longer in the charts here for some reason. And Pestlife, Eugh :puke2: Apperently they are playing 12 nights in the point this week.

I guess all the Irish nursing homes will be empty ^_^

I know

If I hear anymore stupid talk abut Rob going back to TT I think I will scream... Rob is treated like a complete imbecile that cannot make his own mind up... I remember reading in his book ' Feel' how he used to get really annoyed at the way people treated him as if he could not make a decision for himself.

I hope that he continues to do what he wants to & that he is not going to be bullied into doing something that he personally is not happy with. I hope he makes the records he wants to make & it looks like he is definately going to work with Mark Ronson again if the article on his website is anything to go by.

The more I see of him I just cannot picture him in my mind with TT again... he has absolutely nothing in common with them anymore..... in fact they could not be further apart....Their tast in music is miles apart now & if the truth be told probably always was.

People would not all be long shutting up if he announced that he was totally fed up of the whole thing & was retiring....I would not blame him after all the carry on with the media s**t being written at the moment.

Scotty... Thank you for posting this again.... you should actually post it every now & then just to remind us of the great reviews that Rudebox did get ... Its' too easy to get caught up in the negative stuff.... although at the moment the Mirror & Sun are pretty quite.... they ran out of steam eventually as I thought that they would.......

Its also good to see that The Sentinel are keeping up to date & continuing to report all the local community projects that Rob supports ......

So well done Scotty..............thanks again.....

Rudebox is only currently charting in 2 european markets

Italy: #63 (#72) 26 weeks now 1 week #1, 4 weeks in Top 10

Tbh, I think it would be a smart move to release another single in Europe. I think Viva Life On Mars would be a huge hit in Europe, but I don't think it should be released in the UK/Ireland, there is no point at all. Wheras elsewhere, it would be very successful. Also I think they should release She's Madonna is Latin America. Anything to boost sales. :D

Scotty... I have not heard She's Madonna played here in Ireland hardly at all & if I do hear it played Im going to run out in the road & throw myself in front of a Bus...... I hate that track..... ^_^ :puke2:

Why could they not release The Actor... its a fantastic song & they could do a great video... but what do I know... nothing as usual...

No... Rob prefers to dress up as a woman & get all darky & emotional.... Blah.. Blah... Blah.....

Rob... ' Get A Grip ' Ok.... I love you but ... take off your knickers & put your boxers back on........

Here something to cheer us up.......way better ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_XHLvmHNfQ

You now hate SM? :o I thought you only just did'nt like it the other day  Did'nt you say it was great when the album came out? It seems the more you hear it the less you like it. :( Maybe it's best to not listen at all. :P

I've heard it dozens of times, much more than Lovelight and Rudebox combined and I hardly ever listen to the radio. It has'nt been played much since it's release though due to the negetivity. -_-

The Actor is great, but Viva life on mars woul do far better in most places. But it's not a good idea to release anything else in the UK. It would'nt help the album and would just give the press more exuses to slag him off. :puke2:
