I am nearly always disappointed by a new PSB album - even Fundamental. :(
March 14, 201312 yr Pet Shop Boys have left Parlophone Records after a ground-breaking 28 years and have signed their forthcoming studio album “Electric” to Kobalt Label Services in a global deal. Their new album “Electric” is produced by Stuart Price and will be released in June 2013. Further information about the album will be announced soon. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe said today: “We are hugely proud of the new album and are very pleased to be working in conjunction with Kobalt. We’d like to thank everyone we’ve worked with at Parlophone over the last 28 years both in the UK and abroad. When we signed to the label in 1985 we had no idea how long and successful a relationship we were embarking on. However it is also exciting now to commence a new phase working with a new team in a new business structure and we look forward to a creative and equally fulfilling relationship with Kobalt.” Paul Hitchman, Managing Director of Kobalt Label Services, said today: "The whole global Kobalt Label Services team is hugely excited to be a part of the forthcoming Pet Shop Boys release. We look forward to working in partnership with Neil, Chris, and the Becker Brown team to maximise the potential of the record, which is already sounding like a classic.” Miles Leonard, President of A&R, Parlophone, said: “Few can say they have worked with any artist for 28 years, but Parlophone have and we are very proud of that. We have been fortunate enough to have been partners in one of the most successful careers in pop culture. Neil and Chris to this day influence so many with their incredible songwriting and music. We wish them every success in the future and look forward to continuing our relationship with them across their entire and enviable catalogue.” Kobalt Label Service’s first international album release, “Push The Sky Away” by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds recently debuted at number one in seven countries and top four in thirteen other countries. http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/index.php
March 14, 201312 yr Excited about this :o Kind of a big deal that they left Parlophone but I kind of saw it coming with the reshuffle.
March 14, 201312 yr So soon after the last one. :o I was pretty disappointed with the last album, can't deny it. :( Fundamental was their last brilliant album. Hopefully this is good though! I still have faith.
March 15, 201312 yr So soon after the last one. :o I was pretty disappointed with the last album, can't deny it. :( Fundamental was their last brilliant album. Hopefully this is good though! I still have faith. You didn't like Yes? :( For me it only has to be the best album since that, and even Elysium grew on me a lot. FINALLY watched the teaser by the way and I have but one emoticon - *.*

March 15, 201312 yr You didn't like Yes? :( For me it only has to be the best album since that, and even Elysium grew on me a lot. FINALLY watched the teaser by the way and I have but one emoticon - *.* Yes for me was two great singles, about 3 other pretty good album tracks at a pinch. Not a bad album though, but they have many better.
March 15, 201312 yr They are actually taking a big risk since the label is a relatively new one. Plus, if they are releasing a new album in June, then they better release a new single soon. But yh, I am dazzled by the teaser. *.*
July 13, 201312 yr Just thought I would bump this up since the album is dropping this weekend. It is seriously a fine album, even by PSB standards. Highly recommended. Mojo 4/5, Q 4/5, Uncut 8/10, The Telegraph 5/5, The Guardian 4/5, The Independent 4/5, MusicOMH 5/5, NME 8/10
July 15, 201312 yr I bought the album yesterday, "Love is a Bourgeois Construct" is fabulous and must be a single!!
July 15, 201312 yr I bought the album yesterday, "Love is a Bourgeois Construct" is fabulous and must be a single!! They have done a 4 min edit (been played on radio 2 a few times) and it supposedly will be a single....Although I think The Last To Die or Thursday would be more radio friendly. But they seem to be doing everything different this time.
July 16, 201312 yr Havent got round to buying yet but i will before the week is out. Number 1 in the mid-weeks though which is wonderful.
July 19, 201312 yr Apparently they are competing for the top position with Robin Thicke's album. They were before they slipped to #3. I think they'll be #4 on Sunday which is still reasonable enough.
July 23, 201311 yr Well it debuted at No.3. "Love is bourgeios construct" is the next single apparently!!
July 23, 201311 yr The more I think of it the more I believe a Pet Shop Boys duet with Example would just work brilliantly and could open the Pet Shop Boys up to a new market, I think they just need to find a way to attract new buyers to their material as the material they are releasing is a good solid body of work. I think no matter what the next single is it still wont perform in the capacity it deserves, which is a massive shame.
