April 8, 201312 yr She should not have been given such a high profile show so quickly. I remember a few weeks ago when she 'interviewed' people at the Brits and just said to all of them "Can I have a hug", which is rivetting listening. She doesn't have the right mindset or radio skills to pilot a chart show-but that's also the fault of R1 bosses who treat chart statistics with obvious disdain, and are far more interested in turning radio into television with this ridiculous decision to put the final hour of the chart online. But it's not just R1 doing it-virtually all radio stations now have webcams and online content to view-the days of being a pure radio buff are sadly dwindling away. Why on earth didn't they offer Scott Mills or (with slight reservations) Greg James the chart-they would have been my choice-I literally couldn't beleive it when I offered it to Jameela Jamil. If Dan and Phil take it over-that's it-I'm done with the top 40.
April 9, 201312 yr When they gave 'Hi, I'm Wes' the chart it ceased to be worth listening to. Whoever made that decision is to blame really.
April 9, 201312 yr Two more points about the amateurish of the production - a lot of the time she speaks with no music behind her. Just silence. It sounds like a student radio production. And the week before last, they did a recap from 40 to 31, but then didn't bother with 30 to 21 or 20 to 11. Disagree on the first part of this statement - it actually makes better radio to me not to have background music when someone is speaking Agree on the second half - let's have a proper rundown each 10 (or even better perhaps a full rundown of 40-2 before playing the number one.
