I agree I don't get the appeal of 'This Is What Makes Us Girls' at all and it's one of those that I always skip.

It's all very repetitive. She uses the same hooks in several places and it all becomes tedious for me. Can't abide Carmen, really not do I like National Anthem. I hope her next alum is stripped back.

Ride is pretty great.

I'm not surprised Yayo has 0 votes. It's her worst released song. This Is What Makes Us Girls is so overrated, I can't believe it's in the top 5 of 5 people.

I quite like Yayo & TIWMUG - maybe not T5, but certainly not bottom 5 either.

Not surprised BTD is top, but didn't expect National Anthem to be 2nd...

Interesting that Summertime Sadness is the highest of the non-singles.

That and "my pussy tastes like pepsi cola". How do people find it amusing?

BTW, in that song, I wonder who Harvey is? :P

My top 5 (in order)

1. Off To The Races

I love the length and the references in it, and I love how it really tells a story and how she depicts herself as a clueless lover lost in love. Absolutely fantastic. "Yo I'm off to the races, laces, leather on my waist is tight and I am falling down..."

2. Ride

Ride is stunning and the verses and chorus and video all go so well together. I particularly love the bridge, and the last dramatic chorus that comes crashing in. This is by far the best song from the re-release IMO, with Gods & Monsters just missing out the top 5. "I'm tired of feeling like I'm f**king crazy, I'm tired of driving till I see stars in my eyes, I've got to keep myself sane baby, so I just ride, I just ride..."

3. National Anthem

This one really is an anthem. Showing her more pop-oriented side, it's just so catchy and I love the reflection of the American dream throughout. A summer smash that never was. "Red, white, blues in the skies, summer's in the air baby, heaven's in your eyes. I'm your national anthem."

4. Blue Jeans

I warmed to this one initially when it was on the internet before the single 'Born To Die' was released, but I grew to love it more after it received its second music video. The third verse is literally one of my highlights of the whole album and that's saying something. It's just 3:28 seconds of pure heartbreak. "You went out every night, and baby that's alright, told you that no matter what you did I'd be by your side, 'cause I'm a ride or die, whether you fail or fly, well sh*t at least you tried..."

5. This Is What Makes Us Girls

Now, this one was a difficult one to choose as I have so many favourites. But this track ended up making the top 5 in the end in that this is the only track on the original release that doesn't appear to be about a romantic relationship. It really shows her other side with an auto-biographical viewpoint with those sad undertones. I particularly like this demo version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzdMFFxDRiM . "This is what makes us girls, darling little queens do you know what you're worth... Tell you every day 'till you get it girl, it's all gunna happen..."

Other tracks I really love are (in no order) 'Born To Die', 'Summertime Sadness', 'Million Dollar Man', 'Without You', 'Gods & Monsters' and 'Burning Desire'. I really like her cover of 'Chelsea Hotel No. 2' as well but that's not on the album. I really like all of the tracks apart from 'Yayo' which I skip occasionally.

I seem to be the only person who really likes Yayo, then (just not enough for T5).

In some order:

Born To Die

Video Games

National Anthem

Summertime Sadness

This Is What Makes Us Girls

None of the Paradise bonus tracks do anything for me, Ride is the only good one and even then I'm not particularly fussed with it.

BTW, I was surprised to see Summertime Sadness make its chart debut this week at #132 - has it been used in an advert, perhaps?

The fact that other people like National Anthem so much is making me like it even less.

Bump.

I thought I'd bring this back to the front page since we have another thread rating the album now - it'll be interesting to see how they compare.

On a side issue, I see Radio 1 have playlisted one of the poll favs - Summertime Sadness.

My faves (but it was so hard to choose and a couple of great tracks just missed out)

#1 - Blue Jeans

My most played song of all time - simply flawless

#2 - Summertime Sadness

Haunting - this didn't stand out for me on first listen but it's the track other than Blue Jeans that I listen to most from Born To Die

#3 - Yayo

Such a great song - my current go-to "mood song"

#4 - Ride

Stunning vocals and a great video - so relaxing to listen to

#5 - Video Games

Simple but beautiful - I think this song will probably age the best out of all Lana's tracks
