Posted April 12, 201312 yr Apple could secure label deals for streaming service by next week - report Source:MW by Rhian Jones Apple is expected to sign its first internet radio licensing agreement with a major label perhaps as soon as next week. Universal Music Group has now reached the final stages of the negotiations and Warner Music is close behind, according to The Verge sources. Reports at the beginning of the month suggested a deal with the two labels was imminent, however, progress in talks with Sony is said to be not so far along. The new streaming service is apparently designed to help iTunes users discover new music and boost sales of downloads as well as generate ad sales. While it could be a potential rival for internet radio Pandora, Apple’s service will come with more on-demand features. Labels will apparently be offered a revenue share of new audio ads Apple is planning to utilise on the free service. The deals could be in place for a summer rollout and, in addition to the US, Apple will launch the service in up to a dozen territories including the U.K, France, Germany, Australia and Japan.
April 12, 201312 yr Individual downloads will start going down now i predict. The chart will have to take on boards you tube and streaming to survive and be relevant!!
