May 20, 201312 yr Author Shane Filan @ShaneFilan 1h Was back where it all started today at Rokstone Studios to do the vocals on a song I wrote with @SteveMacProd & @WayneHector Great day ---- So happy reading this, Steve Mac & Wayne Hector combos are always amazing imo.
May 22, 201312 yr Swear It Again was produced and mastered on Rokstone Studios, I believe
May 24, 201312 yr For this Friday, Shane opened an Instagram page where he posted lyrics from the song he showed us in the video: "I don't need the sunlight shining on my face and I don't need perfection to have the perfect day" Here is the link: http://instagram.com/shanefilanofficial I think it is very very smart that he is connected to various social media: Twitter Facebook and now Instagram.
May 24, 201312 yr I doubt he'll have to give much money back to his creditors, he'll be back making profit in no time. The bulk of the money he'll get will be from gigs, he's got a guaranteed Westlife contingent that'll fill his venues, a theatre tour could be very lucrative so record sales won't matter. I do wonder if he wrote all the songs in part to get a larger slice of the pie!

The bulk of the money he'll get will be from gigs, he's got a guaranteed Westlife contingent that'll fill his venues, a theatre tour could be very lucrative so record sales won't matter. I do wonder if he wrote all the songs in part to get a larger slice of the pie! And it never crossed your mind that he wants to have a successful solo career while recording something he is passionate about? I don't get these negative comments, why think like that? He said multiple times he is so happy he can write his own songs, something he couldn't do often in Westlife because they were pushed into covers too much. I stated before he signed a contract which he agreed to give money back, so I'm sure a certain percentage is agreed.
May 24, 201312 yr Author Also, Shane I believed did write a lot of Westlifes co-written songs. Mark gets the most credit as his songs are regarded as some of the better songs (he also seemed the most passionate and we often got the impression he was heavily involved in his co-writes), but Shane has a fair few to his name so this wanting to write songs isn't a new thing from him, plus there's the songs he's written for others and of course IOU before the boys ever got signed/managed (before people question how involved he was). Therefore, this wanting to be involved in the creative side isn't new from him, part of it maybe financial, but I think it's a very cynical viewpoint that would say Shane is only going solo for the money. If that was the case convincing the guys to stick together for a few more years as Westlife would surely have been what he would have done, it's guaranteed money and although people like to write off westlifes sales, they always had great album sales and big tours... which is where a lot of the money is.

I really quite like that lyric, looking forwards to seeing what else they will come up with. Also, as it's not been mentioned here yet, he was talking about video treatments earlier in the week, so looks like that will be filmed soon which is cool! I wonder if he'll do some festivals/gigs to promote the new single as well, or if he'll just rely on tv and a bit of radio.

May 31, 201312 yr Shane has updated his website and also posted a new blog: Hi guys. Since my last update I’ve been finishing off my album and its nearly done now I was back where it all started recently in Rokstone Studios writing with Steve Mac and Wayne Hector which was great fun. I just got back from Stockholm where I did some writing sessions, which brought back alot of great memories. Stockholm is such a beautiful city, I can’t wait to go back there and the rest of scandanavia to promote my album. Very exciting news that I’m doing my very first video in LA in a couple of weeks time. It’s still hard to believe I’m doing my own video. No better place to start than in Hollywood. I’ve come up with really good ideas for the video and we’ve picked an amazing director to shoot it. It’s gonna be great. It’s only a matter of weeks until you get to hear my first single on the radio. To say I cannot wait is an understatement. I’m looking forward to visiting lots of radio stations around the country. The dates and cities will be posted here very soon. I can’t thank you all enough for the love and support you have all shown me. You never cease to amaze me. My new website is launched today and I’ll be keeping you all up to date here with all my news. Hope you like it. I’ll see you all very soon. Shane. Also, he was an hour late this time so it was funny to read fan's frustration about it - thanks to that, FilanFriday was trending at no. 6 in the UK :)
June 7, 201312 yr Shane posted on his Facebook a series of photos that show him recording in Stockholm: As you know I'm currently working on my debut solo album, here's a behind the scenes look exclusive to my Facebook friends to show you what I've been up to in the studio. Can't wait for you all to hear it! Happy #FilanFriday x https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4...5032&type=1

June 13, 201312 yr Author I hope he answers questions and reveals details on his music, I'm not here for the onslaught of 'Fave pizza topping?' 'What colour socks are you wearing' sort of thing.
June 14, 201312 yr Relevant things Shane shared on Twitter are: We can expect a bit different style - it's pop mixed with folk What inspired Shane's 1st single: wife, kids and fans - we will understand it when we hear it. The first single is not a ballad. We will hear it in early July, he says his birthday might be a good day. He will do a radio tour around July. He can't tell us the name of the single yet, but it contains 3 words. The single will be released in August, he will reveal the date very soon He will shoot the video in LA, week after next. He will do another Q&A next month. Also, AskShane was trending at no.1 worldwide for the last hour that he has been answering questions. Edited June 14, 201312 yr by zeze88
June 14, 201312 yr Author He actually did a really good Q&A which revealed info and not just pointless stuff to try and trend. Good on ya Shane! Pop mixed with folk is very intriguing, not completely sure how I feel about it but very interested to hear it. Also, delighted the first single won't be a ballad! Shane's b'day is 5th July right? If they premiere it then, I guess we're looking at around 11th August release date. Great news about the radio tour and nice to hear he's looking forwards to touring (although gives the impression there's no plans until they see how he performs). I'm glad we have a rough release date now and as we know it will be a EP from earlier tweets it feels like we know quite a bit now. I'm all excited again now it looks like things are really happening.
June 14, 201312 yr Yep, I'm also very happy about thew Q&A, he gave us a lot of info. Yes, I think his birthday is July 5th so we will hear it very soon! I'm also very intrigued about pop/folk thing, he will be different than most pop stars out there then which is good. But honestly, like you, I'm just happy that the 1st single won't be a ballad, thats so great :)
June 28, 201312 yr Shane posted 2 new photos on Instagram - he is currently in the LA shooting his music video. He also posted a small clip saying how he will tell us all about the single next Friday. http://instagram.com/shanefilanofficial/
July 1, 201312 yr Here is a interesting article in The Mirror that mentions that while he is in US, Shane will also meet up with people there who are going ro help him break the US market: http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrit...stlife-2007852 “His record company have been absolutely great and so supportive – they want to do absolutely everything that is necessary to make this career a success. “The music that they’re working with is just so good, so they are happy to give him a huge budget to make sure the video is absolutely perfect.” He is also expected to have a series of meetings with some of the biggest names in US music while in LA – ahead of a planned push to break America. Also, he has co- written ALL of the songs :yahoo: Here is this part: A source said: “It’s not all pleasure while he’s over in America – there’s lots of hard work that has to be done. “He has to meet a load of big-wigs who are going to help him with plans on breaking the States. “It’s a tough job to do, but everyone thinks that Shane is up to it.” Walsh said: “I’m very optimistic for him because I’ve heard the music. And he’s co-written all the songs. Honestly, he’s going to be huge. “There’s all brand new songs - it’s hits, hits, hits. It’s very American – it’s not like anyone I know. It’s quality.” I'm SO happy to hear everyone is so positive and pleased for his career - it would be amazing if he could break the US - it would certainly be easier now than 2000 when Westlife tried since social media are a great tools now.
July 1, 201312 yr Author Gah that article is music to my ears, everything sounds so good and pretty perfect. It's great to see the label seem to have so much faith in him and are splashing the cash. I so can't wait to Friday to get some proper details of the single. I really hope it's as good as it's being made out to be!
September 4, 201311 yr Here is the article about Shane's documentary: Shane Filan has made a documentary about the making of his debut solo album. The former Westlife star wanted to capture every moment as he stepped out alone and visited Nashville to pen his own material. Excited Shane, 34, told me: “I spent two weeks out there and had a documentary crew filming as I was writing. “It’s going to be out later in the year – a 60 minute documentary on the last day of Croke Park (Westlife’s final show) then the day after with me talking to the camera and not knowing where my life was going. “It’s really good footage catching me how I was feeling at that moment, signing the record deal and the process of going through making the album.” With his first single Everything To Me in the Top 15, Shane is hoping to announce a solo tour to tie in with the release of his album, due out before Christmas. Shane continued: “My live show will be about me having a laugh and jumping around the stage. “I love interacting with the crowd, there will be 10-12 musicians and it’ll be a bit of a jam. “It’s all going to be new when I tour, I want to start in smaller venues and go to different cities which I haven’t been to before and try to build up my confidence as a performer. “I’m more excited than scared as I’m singing songs I love. “I’ll sing Westlife songs as well of course or the fans would be very disappointed.” While his band days are in the past, one role Shane wouldn’t mind picking up again is helping out Louis Walsh on The X Factor as a guest mentor. Shane, who worked with JLS on the show in 2008, added: “I’d love to help Louis out again. “X Factor has been very good to Westlife and last time was so much fun.” I can't wait to see that - I always love when I can see how album was made :)
