Sabbath and Ozzy are back, reuniting the group’s founding lineup for the first time in 35 years

 

 

First time since the beginning of my chart the heavy metal act reached No.1 spot. No wonder if you look closer at the title. ‘God is Dead?’ is Black Sabbath’s first offering from their upcoming album, ’13, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler‘s first new album together since ‘Never Say Die!’ in 1978.

Inspired by the immortal words of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, ‘God is Dead?’ challenges Nietzsche’s classic quote with the addition of a question mark.

Nine-minute piece has like half a dozen (or more) towering, ominous riffs from Iommi, some great bass runs from Butler, and a classic-era performance from Ozzy, whose voice really is ageless.

13 was recorded in Los Angeles alongside veteran producer Rick Rubin and features Rage Against The Machine’s Brad Wilk on drums.

Hi Andrey, great chart as always, thanks for reminding of 3 tracks that need to be in my chart tomorrow (of those that I have heard). Black Sabbath never peaked higher than 2 in my chart (Paranoid of course) but it doesnt seem like 35 years since they were last on TOTP! (coming up later in the year on the BBc hopefully)

 

I have 36 tracks bubbling under an already packed Top 75, many great Buzzjack Song Contest tracks about to enter, and with eurovision about to fall on us (I'm waiting for the contest before I listen to tracks) May is going to manic in my charts!

thank you for comment. Paranoid is an absolute rock classic. I believe Sabbath recorded many classic tracks during their long career (even after Ozzy has left them).

I consider Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio was fantastic, especially 1980 album "Heaven and Hell".

 

I'm glad that you have so busy chart, John. So do i. There are 13 songs in my Bubbling under Top 50 today, but new week hasn't even started yet. I don't think that eurovision will affect my chart (though you never can tell). However i also believe that May is going to be crazy in my Chart. ;)
