Everything about the concept would sound terribly bad in anyone else's hands, but you can just tell that both the artist it's coming from and the way it's been handled makes the whole package a perfect choice for "bizarre album critics love". Something about the mega cheap album cover and photoshoot is somehow pulling me in.

 

(and 'Jerk Ribs' is pretty great, really glad she didn't do another dance album as much as I loved Flesh Tone)

Just listened to this and something happened towards the end of the record.

 

Wasn't really clicking much apart from the fabulous Forever Be (should be a single) especially as I played Flesh Tone right before it.

 

Then the last 3 tracks came on (Rumble, Biscuits 'n' Gravy and Dreamer) and really caught my attention.

Gonna give this another go now.

 

Gonna give the album a listen now. Coincidentally I just bought tickets to see her live in May so fingers crossed the album's good.

I am jealous. I've been watching bits of the 6Music Festival performance on youtube and I think it will be a cracking show.

I saw her live about ten years ago and she was amazing. I wish she'd play here though because I'm LOVING 'Rumble' and 'Jerk Ribs'. I pre-ordered the album a few days ago but I may have to have a cheeky listen...
