The album charted at 29. I think it deserved higher however at least it's his highest charting album to date!

Im delighted it has at the least managed to get him his highest solo charting album, yes it deserved more but least its managed a decent position, stars aso made it debut at number 135 this week which is disappointing with 1,842 sales.

We did however manage to get some sales info from music week..

Mark Owen - Green Men 106,161

Mark Owen - In Your Time 17,802

Mark Owen - How The Mighty Fall 3,279

Mark Owen - The Art of Doing Nothing 5,412

So the art of doing nothing has already managed to outsell How The Mighty Fall.

Not great sales really, expected double tbh especially as it is probably his strongest album.

Those sales also confirm that there's no way in your own time sold 400k as mentioned in that German link

Strange how HTMF didn't chart with those sales. Should of been good enough for top 100 at least

i would say the sales for how the mighty fall added up from trickle sales here and everywhere and opening week sales were probably less than 1000

Those overall sales are so disheartening to date he has sold a combined total of 132, 654 albums including first week sales of the Art of doing Nothing, that would give an average of 33,141 per album if done on average which is sadly not great.

Green Man built up respectable sales over the years but i am shocked How the Might Have Fallen has still managed less than 5,000 sales over its lifetime which suggests the opening sales were extremely weak, i would like to know what its peak chart position was.

On a slightly brighter note had The Art of Doing Nothing managed those sales on many of the previous chart weeks it would have achieved a top 20 position. I really hope it does not drop out of the top 75 or even top 100 this week.

It never charted unfortunately Pippa. What's weird is that there are literally no copies around of it unless you want to spend well over the top on eBay or something - probably due to him releasing it on his own label

If the album is so how got it may mean very limited copies were released.

I found back in time HTMF in a supermarket in Dresden, but in Germany he released with the help of a record company. Now in the city i live i have no CD-shop, so i cannot tell.

I hope he will write music for films and musicals, other way his talent is wasted.

I have not bought TAODN till now. Too much Progress for my liking (which i also haven't bought till now) and i buy only albums i will also hear (exception was a Robbie album as i was curious and i heard it only twice, i do like some of his songs but they are scaterred on different albums). It may grow on me like Stars did, but for now is not my prioroty on my wish list.

Shocking that an album so great like HTMF sold so little. He really must like to do music that he released a new album after that  .

The art of doing nothing has dropped out of the top 100 from number 29, huge disappointment, the album really deserves better, looks like it was a pure fan purchase last week and the album didnt appeal to people outside that.

I had feared this huge drop could happen and it did, it is disappointing, but all we can take from this is we have a great album to listen to and have as part of our music collection, and also, Mark achieved his highest charting solo album and an extra little bonus is it has managed to improve on the sales of his previous album ( we will exclude that he has had all the take that exposure since then!!)

It was predictable that there would be a huge drop. Although I must admit before his album campaign started, I really did think this was going to be a success for him. It was only until around the time that the tour tickets went on sale when I realised that maybe it wouldn't be. It is a brilliant album, and I hope Mark is focusing on the fact that his fans love the album and isn't too disappointed about the sales.

I'm more surprised about how much Stars was a flop. It was his lowest charting single to date despite all the promotion it got. Even Hail Mary did better (according to wikipedia) in the charts and I don't think that got much promotion at all.

I initially thought the album would do reasonably well, there was a little bit of a buzz and he had promotion lined up, i really expected Stars to easily manage a top 75 placing and top 20 for the album, but it didnt happen which is a shame. I do agree Mark is happy with the album as is his fans so thats very important.

The album is number 120 this week down 91 places, on sales of 947 bringing its combined sales total to 6, 359. Looks like 10,000 will be roughly the maximum it sells.

I did also think the album would have done better especially as it is his first release since the Take That reunion, but the fact it the album has done great, but i do agree with what others have said in that it is a good solid album and well worth the purchase. I would say he might release just one more single and that will it really.

He should release Heaven's Falling, reduce it to 59p along with dropping the album to £4.99 on iTunes

I'll defo buy it but I think I'll wait until it drops in price on Amazon

heavens falling would be a good single choice but i dont think any single will do well or make the album sell, the high price has not helped at all. mark is lucy though as the next take that project will make up for any losss he incurred and he will still remain a very wealthy man.

Earlier on in the campaign i would have disagreed about him having no hit singles of this album but i can only agree now as no single will perform well, stars got promoted and stalled at number 135 so the rest of the single are sure to do even worse.
Well, a single is not only for charts. Without a single to promote, you cannot go to the radios so easy to promote the album. So sometimes is necesarry, even when you know iit won't bother the charts. But that they were not quite ineterested how the single will fare was shown from the twitter account, where they didn't tell when the single is released but only when the album comes out.

I see the point you are making, and radio play is important too. The focus was all around the album, the singles did not seem to overly bother them.
