So far without Mark we would be sat im limbo thinking the new album was coming this year, with respect to him at least it cleared up that matter.

Yeah true, but I think marks decision to do a solo album is the reason why we won't have a TT album this year. Gary had already said that it was going to be Christmas 2013 and that he didnt know if XF would fit into his schedule because of it. I think the album was probably going to be them as a 4 piece as well as they would of known about robbie touring in the summer. But now marks album has pushed back the TT album it has conveniently fallen into the period when rob will be free from solo commitments. I wonder if it'll end up being a Progress mark 2

I wish they would reduce stars to 59p as it needs something to give it a boost, i really did not expect this to do so badly, it is nowhere to be seen on itunes top 100, does anyone know where it is showing up?
I can't see it at all...the album is not on the list of top sellers on amazon and is 39 on iTunes (worryingly this could be the extent of the fronted sales)
Well, it fares as i expected, top 75. But you know? A lot of albums were sold through universal store, for long time it was only there for preorder. I don't know if it will make a difference at the end of the day, i even have no idea what other albums are now in the top and how much they sell.

I really don't want to see Mark flop. When he first announced this album I had a really good feeling that it would do well but now I'm not sure. Especially as his tour hasn't sold out and with the itunes charts. It's a brilliant album and he deserves so much better. Anyway he's on The One Show tonight, and Breakfast tomorrow so hopefully that will give it a boost.

I actually went to see Mark last night in Sheffield and he was incredible! One of the best gig's I have been to since Progress. The place seemed packed (although the venue was tiny), and he almost seemed surprised at how many people had turned up. It really deserves to have sold out. I also managed to meet him before the gig, he's so lovely as he was getting surrounded by everyone yet was still trying to give as many people autographs and pictures as possible.

Laura, happy you liked the gig. Can you please post the setlist? what marchandise did he have?

I expected the tour to doesn't sell out: it is near hollidays and people keep on their money for it or are already in holliday. There is also exam time. The tour was also announced quite late when everybody had already made the arrangements for the summer. He so should have made the tour in october...

For me is also bad timing. I have a small baby, i cannot go without her and with all family it would be quite expensive.

He doesn't deserve to flop as the album is strong but its all looking likely to flop now, i really thought he stood a chance of top 10 but itunes can be a good indicator and as we know its looking far far from a top 10, a low top 40 entry looks like his best chance now. It really does say that outside Take That the public do not connect to his music at all, yet in Take That he is hugely popular and so are his Take That lead songs. I understand it is totally different music but i did think some of the success would translate, that said, it hasn't in the past so why should it now. It is still disappointing nonetheless.

The setlist was...

Giveaway

Raven

Stars

The Flood

Makin out

Clementine

Carnival

The One

Believe in the Boogie

Us and ours

Heavens Falling

Four minute warning

Hold up a light

Shine

Rule the world

End of Everything

Must say that Heaven's falling is incredible live, I think if he does release another single it should be that one. Wasn't expecting him to sing Rule the World but his version was very good, not as good as the original though. Merchandise wise there was three t-shirts, a tote bag, a mug and two limited edition signed posters for £50 each! I agree with the timing of the tour having an effect, it was announced very close to the actual dates.

I think one of the reasons why people may not connect to his music is his voice. It's like marmite - you either love it or hate it. That's what a lot of the reviews seem to be saying - "good songs but his voice isn't strong enough"

Wow, i can't see him being able to sing the flood or rule the world tbh.

Gutted for him though, I was hoping this would be a solid performer for him chart wise although sales wise I couldn't see it shipping bucket loads

P.s - stars is at 143 on itunes

Stars moves up to number 103 now, hopefully it can manage a top 100 entry by the end of the week.

I am surprised by some songs on the set list, i would have expected child ahead of some of the Take That material. Also with 4 albums of solo material he has enough material without having to revert to using four Take That songs although Shine and Hold up a light i understand as he had the majority of vocals on them.

Is there anything from his last album on there? It's quite hard to find any info on that
From his last album he sung Believe in the Boogie and Makin' Out. I would have liked to have seen some album tracks from his previous solo albums, as he only sung the ones he released as singles. I guess he could never win as some people would be coming to see him hoping he would do TT songs, and some only want to see his solo songs.

That is valid Laura, he was in a no win situation as some would have wanted Take That music too. The truth is though his solo music really is in stark contrast to the music of Take That, i would love to know is there many people if any who would love Mark's solo music but hate Take That's music. There is plenty who are the other way round but id love to know are any of his concert goers just fans of his solo music and not Take That.

Well without his return he wouldn't of been in a position to release a 4th album with a respectable promo budget and a chance of making top 40

I hope they discount the album soon! £10.99 on iTunes is scaring alot of people who are on the fence

If you look at it in all honesty - the same could be said of anything Gary has released. All four of them have a lot to thank 'brand' Take That for.

I agree with you about that price for an iTunes album though - wow!

Really great album, been listening today! Some really strong, well crafted tracks. He was on The One Show yesterday wasn't he?
