May 23, 201312 yr This is all crazy. Russia and Azerbaijan get more than enough blanket support from everywhere else that they surely needn't worry about missing points from a few countries. Indeed. Even 12 points for Russia wouldn't have made any difference.
May 24, 201312 yr Here is an interesting article on this issue: http://www.eurovisionista.com/articles/the...ng-the-ebu.aspx
May 24, 201312 yr The longer the EBU ignores this then the more believable it becomes. I'm usually not open to such theories, but that article above even makes me think there's something seriously wrong here.
May 27, 201312 yr Author I think it is believable as the country puts so much importance on the contest and sees it as a way to further showcase themselves in a positive light on the world stage... it's a rich corrupt country that could easily throw lots of money at this... i guess it's underhanded marketing strategy? (a win is great boost to tourism etc) and if you think about it; it can't take a whole load of votes in countries such as Malta, Montenegro, Lithuania etc to get an easy 12 points...! It might not be as full scale as the article makes out but i wouldn't put it past them if a little underhandedness comes in to play.
May 28, 201312 yr I guess I’ll never watch the Eurovision like before! This contest where trying by all means to destroy the honor and dignity of the winner - just dirtily. The fact that the stadium applauded, and the vote went in favor of Azerbaijan, but no one cares about it, because everybody believes the video captured on mobile phone. June 4, 201312 yr Bonnie Tyler has been commenting on that Russia were apparently expecting 10 points from Azerbaijan, claiming she heard Russians complaining to Azeris about it. As ESC Xtra say in the article here, would they really be speaking in English and why has Bonnie waited until now?
