July 28, 201311 yr Author Yep our top itk confirmed the bid We turned it down as we don't need the money, the Sky tv money and sale of Modric paid for Paulinho and Soldado and we still have plenty of money to spend. If Real come back and offer 100m then I have no doubt Levy would accept But you do need the money! Levy is just a bit silly sometimes imo. For you to progress to the next level you need a bigger stadium. Selling Bale would mean you could invest £30-40m on a top marquee replacement and then use the rest of the money towards a new stadium or upgrading WHL. Just shit business sense, although why Real Madrid started the bidding at that much I'll never know. Also Bale would flop at Madrid At Spurs he is the big fish, everything goes through him, the players are eager to pass the ball to him to work his magic At Real Madrid Ronaldo is the big fish, the player that everything goes through Bale would be standing on the touchline hands on hips as ball after ball is sprayed from midfield to Cristiano Ronaldo thinking angrily to himself "why didn't they pass to me" Going to Real is a fast track way for going from hero to zero Not sure he'd flop, but Madrid would have to change their system for sure to accommodate what they already have. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to do it though. I believe they see Bale probably as the new Ronaldo, as I'm not sure what will happen once his contract is up for re-negotiation.
July 28, 201311 yr We are punching above our weight, we have one of the smallest stadiums in the premiership Well that's a lie to start with, it's the tenth biggest this season. Real's philosophy would be likely to change slightly now Mourinho's gone anyway and if they don't get a direct replacement for Higuain then I'd imagine they'd like to play Ronaldo up front with Bale on the left. The big deals - Bale, Suarez, Fabregas and Rooney - all seem like a set of dominoes at the moment. The fact that a lot of the same clubs are involved means I'd expect one to set most of the others off.

We have the money for the stadium though, just the legals are taking ages to sort out like planning permissions and transport links etc, the stadium can and is being funded without the need for any adverse effect on player recruitment
July 28, 201311 yr Well that's a lie to start with, it's the tenth biggest this season Of our rivals it is by far the smallest, smaller than Old Trafford, Eastlands, Emirates, Stamford Bridge and Anfield by quite a distance The fact it is bigger than Hawthorns or Craven Cottage or Selhurst Park for example is of little or no consequence because those teams are not rivals for league places or players we are after

July 29, 201311 yr Then why claim it was smaller in the first place? There are in reality 6 teams in the Premiership United City Chelsea Arsenal Spurs Liverpool The rest are there to make up the numbers and fight among themselves for the remaining places, effectively a 2 tier league Of the teams that matter: Old Trafford - 75k Emirates - 60k Etihad - 47k Anfield - 45k Stamford Bridge - 41k White Hart Lane - 36k Chelsea are bankrolled by a sugar daddy so don't rely on capacity, so we have 9000 less people attending a home game than our nearest rival, that is probably revenue wise 20-30m a year or more, serious money We are smaller than Goodison, Villa Park, St James' Park and Stadium of Light yet on the pitch blow them all out of the water So we are punching above our weight, revenue wise we are 10th in premiership yet consistently finish in Top 4-5, great achievement
July 29, 201311 yr The Independent is claiming that the £86 million included Fabio Coentrao and Angel di Maria. If that's true, words cannot describe the stupidity of both parties.
July 29, 201311 yr The Independent is claiming that the £86 million included Fabio Coentrao and Angel di Maria. If that's true, words cannot describe the stupidity of both parties. Ridiculous amount, but it does seem more realistic than a straight £86m bid. Possibly Di Maria and Coentrao valued at around £50-£60m combined plus an additional £26m It'd probably be beneficial for Spurs to have a player plus cash deal too considering they'd probably find it difficult to attract most top players without CL football. Although, Coentrao and Di Maria would need convincing too

Although, Coentrao and Di Maria would need convincing too Our top ITK says the offer is £45m cash plus those 2 players plus the loan of an unnamed Real youngster for a year He also says Levy is highly unlikely to accept the offer There is little or no chance of Bale going 1) He is the face of FIFA 14, in a Spurs shirt, can you imagine how much EA would sue Bale for if they have to reprint every copy of the worlds best selling sports game? 2) He has been paid a 7 figure sum as the public face of BT Sport, he would have to give that back plus compensation to BT It is just Marca / Real playing mind games hoping Levy will fold, wont happen
July 29, 201311 yr Implying you have a chance of winning the league? The way I read it, I thought they meant £86 million PLUS the two players - which would be dim on an apocalyptic level. Its unlikely but possible :) We finished 1 point behind Arsenal last season and they have not upgraded yet this summer We have added Paulinho and soon Soldado United and City have changed managers and no one knows how they will adapt I think Chelsea will win the title but we are a contender for Top 3
July 29, 201311 yr Author Doubt Bale will go unless it's a straight cash move. Things seem to be hotting up now, and there's no smoke without fire. Regarding Bale's sponsorship deals, I'm sure there are other legalities in place than mean they can break their contract. The possibility of Real Madrid has been on the cards for 3/4 months now. Bale's team would be incredibly stupid not to plan for these things.

I think Bale will go eventually, I would be surprised if he is there when the transfer window closes next summer but I don't see it being this summer, almost certainly next Firstly Levy is a long way off accepting any offer, secondly by the time he did there would be little time to secure a replacement, thirdly Bale has recently become a dad, his parents look after the kid a lot, I don't see Bale clearing off to Madrid and just hiring nanny's in the early life of a child when it needs to bond with parents and grandparents This time next summer the kid will be about 15 months old, lot easier to go move abroad. Can never say never but i would say 20% chance at best of Bale going this summer

Can never say never but i would say 20% chance at best of Bale going this summer Those factors can easily be worked around though. He might not get the chance again like this. He was sensational in the last 6 months last season, and while he's always been a good player, I've not seen him perform as a top, top player consistently. I know Zidane's a big fan so the likelihood of them moving on is a big no. The problem Levy has is he's wanting to get in to bed again with Real Madrid. There's being a tough negotiator then there's just being silly. If this drags out over the next 5 weeks (big possibility) and they end up selling him towards the end of the window there's little time left to get a replacement in, especially when clubs know you've a huge war chest.
July 29, 201311 yr Given Chadli's already arrived, if Real were to make another offer that involved Di Maria then it would be mad not to take it.
July 29, 201311 yr Author Given Chadli's already arrived, if Real were to make another offer that involved Di Maria then it would be mad not to take it. It seems a good deal on face value, but you have to take in to account what wages Di Maria would be on. He'd undoubtedly want more money seeing as he would be taxed more over here. Spurs have one of the strictest wage policies in England as well. I can't see them breaking that.
July 29, 201311 yr Author What's Bale going to be on, though? Not sure what he is on, probably a fair amount away from what Di Maria would be on if he were to join. Doubt Bale's anywhere near six figures in terms of his current salary at Spurs, which I'm sure Di Maria would want.

Unless Bale goes on strike I think Levy will win this one I don't think he will go on strike as he is building a global brand, becoming the next Beckham in terms of sponsors and very much portraying a clean cut image (bar his diving) Going on strike and getting a reputation as a sulker will tarnish the image of 'Brand Bale' so I don't see him doing it More likely he will stamp his feet a bit behind the scenes but once the season starts he will be professional and get on with the job and likely leave next year Of course going on strike would probably mean he has to go this summer but i just dont see it
