June 10, 201312 yr In Spl news, Dundee United seem to have sold Johnny Russell To Derby. This has been confirmed today!! Fantastic signing, he scored 20 goals last season I believe! :cheer:
June 10, 201312 yr Author Only thing is with the SPL is you can never be too sure of how good the players actually are, is a massive gamble. Celtic aside the best teams are League 1/League 2 standard. Mind you it's better signing than Leeds who signed Matt Smith :basil:
June 10, 201312 yr Yeah, that's a good point! Craig Bryson came from Kilmarnock a couple of years ago and he is a fantastic player, so hopefully it'll work out this time too! :D
June 11, 201312 yr Jesús Navas has signed for Manchester City, hopefully he wont make an impact at the Etihad for Manchester United's sake.

You only have to look at the players the SPL attracts to see how good they are, Inverness have just finished 4th and have made 7 pre-season signings, from Burnley (never played a game, loaned to Droylesdon), Hereford, Coleraine, Kidderminster, Kendal Town, Ebbsfleet and Cheltenham. The Irish striker aside, it's not like they're even players that teams from League 1 are chasing.
June 19, 201312 yr Author Andy Carroll finally gone to West Ham for £15m. Somehow he got himself a 20k a week pay-rise!
June 19, 201312 yr Andy Carroll finally gone to West Ham for £15m. Somehow he got himself a 20k a week pay-rise! A pay rise? I thought he took a pay cut and that's why they've signed him for 6 years?
June 19, 201312 yr Author A pay rise? I thought he took a pay cut and that's why they've signed him for 6 years? On 100k a week apparently. Was on about 80k at Liverpool. Statement of intent for West Ham, there's a decent player in there, just not a death by football/counter attacking one.

Hmm my source must be wrong! At least they got him relatively cheap from Liverpool, £35m was ludicrous.
June 19, 201312 yr Author Hmm my source must be wrong! At least they got him relatively cheap from Liverpool, £35m was ludicrous. It was, but the £15m is probably more like £20 when the loan fee and add-ons is included. £15m loss, but oh well, not every transfer works out. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
June 19, 201312 yr Six year contract is promising if he manages to stay fit, I'm assuming there's a relegation fee clause of £8-10 million in there somewhere. Did anyone see anything of Real Betis last season? We got their keeper Adrían on a free after they let his contract expire, I'm wondering whether they didn't offer him a new one until it was too late and he wanted out because he wasn't first choice at the start of the season.
June 20, 201312 yr I hope he does well at West Ham, but I'm happy to see the back of Andy Carroll to be honest Fans and the media will criticise Rodgers for giving up on Carroll too easily, but it seems pointless to have a player on 80k a week worth £15-£20m sat on the bench when that money can now be invested in a player that suits the way we play Guaranteed he'll go and score against us next season though

We're shit against powerful strikers like Carroll. I'm convinced it is the main reason we bought him in the first place after he absolutely bossed us. Hope he does well though. He jut isn't the type of striker we need at Liverpool. Would have been nice as a plan B striker, but it's a World Cup year so he'll want to play as much as he can.
June 25, 201311 yr Manchester City's Carlos Tevez looks set to move to Juventus in a deal worth £7.65m which could rise to £12.75m on add-ons on a three year deal.
June 25, 201311 yr Author Manchester City's Carlos Tevez looks set to move to Juventus in a deal worth £7.65m which could rise to £12.75m on add-ons on a three year deal. If he's going, then it suggests they're confident of a new striker. Not sure it will be Cavani mind. Mignolet has joined Liverpool for £9m. Would have preferred Begovic but nevermind!
June 26, 201311 yr haven't been on here for ages but... do any arsenal fans know anything about Jordan winter? do any Swindon fans know anything about aden flint? do any villa fans know anything about derrick Williams? do any derby fans know what frank fielding is like? thanks :w00t:
June 26, 201311 yr Mignolet is a very good signing, I can see Liverpool pushing Spurs for 5th at least. I would assume that City have someone else lined up, but the fact that it's happening so soon into Pellegrini's reign makes me think maybe not. That price is crazy cheap as well, he's worth more than that at least to City because his link-up play with Aguero was so good.

From what I read on the Tevez signing, they've taken the hit on the initial fee because it will save them money in the long run. I'm sure he's on £200,000 p/w, and he was due a bonus of over £6m at some point during this year. It's a good deal for Juventus, but it can't be long before Tevez does actually go back to Argentina.
June 28, 201311 yr One year left on a contract paying insane wages and bonuses, definitely worth £12m at an absolute minimum, but probably above 15 and closer to 20, add on the transfer fee it's a decent deal for City. Far too much attention is paid to the transfer fee and not the overall cost to either side.
June 28, 201311 yr apparently we are getting jay Emmanuel Thomas +cash for paul Anderson. shame to see ando go, but I trust sod :D
