September 9, 201311 yr Author I had a go at ranking Premier League clubs transfer windows... 01 Norwich 02 Swansea 03 Liverpool 04 Man City 05 Arsenal 06 Spurs 07 Aston Villa 08 Everton 09 Hull 10 Southampton 11 West Ham 12 Fulham 13 Cardiff 14 Stoke 15 Crystal Palace 16 Chelsea 17 Sunderland 18 West Brom 19 Man Utd 20 Newcastle I wouldn't say that's too bad at all. I'm not sure there's much in the top 4 of your list activity. All clubs strengthened where they needed to. Was certainly an interesting transfer window!

September 9, 201311 yr Author Surprised you put Arsenal so high Yes Ozil is a quality player but there is no certainty he will make it in Prem, I remember Liverpool fans creaming themselves over Sahin last year and Utd fans when they got Veron and Chelsea fans when they got Shevchenko They bought one player all summer and are an injury to Giroud away from being screwed, they still have weaknesses at the back and in goal too Arsenal lack depth, but Ozil is such a stella signing. I'd be highly surprised if he flopped. He's such a good player, Madrid were silly to let him go, even though they have Bale now. Arsenal still have huge weaknesses but they have the second or third best midfield in the country. They can improve on their keeper and full backs, and they do need another striker, but that's not come off. Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs are all pretty level squared for fourth. Going to be an interesting season.. even more so if Man Utd have an early wobble.
September 10, 201311 yr Surprised you put Arsenal so high Yes Ozil is a quality player but there is no certainty he will make it in Prem, I remember Liverpool fans creaming themselves over Sahin last year and Utd fans when they got Veron and Chelsea fans when they got Shevchenko They bought one player all summer and are an injury to Giroud away from being screwed, they still have weaknesses at the back and in goal too Well Veron was played out of position, Shevchenko was signed against the manager's will and ruined their formation and I don't remember any Liverpool fans even mentioning Sahin. I'd give you Aquilani on that one, but Ozil is in a different class - you could name on one hand the number of other players to come to the PL in recent years with a record as formidable as his and he's still only 24, and coming to a team far more attuned to the continental style he's used to than any of the examples you gave.
September 10, 201311 yr Ozil is a great player, world class but at Madrid he had Ronaldo and Benzema to put away his stellar passes, at Arsenal he will have Giroud and Podolski (when he is fit) so as Ozil is not a natural goalscorer he will only be as good as the strikers he passes to Really am shocked that Arsenal didn't go for Benteke when they had the chance, if they had they would been title contenders Edited September 10, 201311 yr by Sandro Ranieri
September 10, 201311 yr I love how Craig assumes that all players brought in from outside the PL are going to flop unless they play for Spurs.
September 10, 201311 yr I love how Craig assumes that all players brought in from outside the PL are going to flop unless they play for Spurs. I don't think he will flop, much as i would love him to do that But he had the advantage of having the best player in the world to bury his assists, at scum he won't do that, scum fans i know don't rate Giroud at all

And Ozil himself scored at a rate of 1 in 5 for Real, he's not just about assists. Also just checked and he got three assists at both the World Cup and Euro 2012. Without Ronaldo.
September 10, 201311 yr Crystal Palace have signed that many players that they've had to leave a couple off the 25 man squad list. Florian Marange wasn't happy in the slightest!

Ozil is proven over a number of years and is one of the top 10, if not top 5, players in the world. Shevchenko was on the way down and Veron probably wasn't as bad as remembered. Arsenal are the only team in the Premier League to add a proper world class player to their squad this summer, they've got rid of a hell of a lot of utter shit and added depth to two of the four areas which they badly needed it leaving only centre-half and centre-forward looking a bit weak, however they have 7 good defenders, which is the same as most of the top teams. Chelsea and Spurs only have 7 too, so they're not lacking per se. Edited September 10, 201311 yr by RabbitFurCoat
