July 15, 201311 yr The men in the cast were seemingly being put through their military paces last week. I love the way one described them afterwards - Band of Broken Bodied Brothers. I'm not sure if Darius would have been involved because Warden is the topkick, the First Sergeant, and he doesn't do the drills and square bashing. He's more like Captain Holmes' Aide De Camp.
July 15, 201311 yr Author I'd like to see hin dance again. 'Guys and Dolls' was a surprise - I didn't think he's do the dances so well and so easily
July 15, 201311 yr In the mini-series of FHTE there's a scene where Warden joins some Hawaiian dancers on stage. I think it's in the film too, but set at some Hawaiian festival. I can't think of any other opening for his character to do it in this particular show. BTW Stephen Webb was also in the cast of Guys and Dolls back then. I think he played Benny Southstreet. He is very good. Edited July 15, 201311 yr by Baytree

July 19, 201311 yr Apparently the photos etc have gone up at the Shaftesbury now. Just realised that David White was the musical director on GWTW as well. I wonder if he suggested they audition Darius, like Gareth Valentine from Chicago did for GWTW. Edited July 19, 201311 yr by Baytree
July 20, 201311 yr I don't think many big WE shows hold truly open auditions. The only show I know is holding open auditions is the forthcoming Happy Days. I'm glad they did, but at first I couldn't see why the creative team would have thought to audition Darius. GWTW was 5 years ago - 5, can you believe that? - and Darius was only very briefly back at the Garrick 18 months ago as Billy Flynn, a character who's not complex for a half decent actor to play, so doesn't showcase very much of D's talent. We know he can do cynical lover and take his character through a huge range of emotions but the interesting thing for me in this particular role is, where does a gentle soul like Darius find the toughness for Warden? He's younger than the other actors who've played the role. That has never seemed to be a problem for him. His 'matinee idol' looks are probably a disadvantage for him as Warden. Burt Lancaster was a tough actor because he WAS tough. He'd worked his way through the school of life. He was a one-off. William Devane also has a lived in, rugged face. Darius has a smooth complexion and those long eyelashes. Edit - Did they grey Darius's hair at the sides on the photo shoot or is it just the shine off his hair? Edited July 20, 201311 yr by Baytree
July 20, 201311 yr I don't think we've had this one http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/United-Ki...log-796648.html warm chocolate - ooh!
July 20, 201311 yr Author https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=356...e=3&theater He can look tough enough when you irritate him Looks as though the grey is just the lights Edited July 20, 201311 yr by megham
July 21, 201311 yr He's got the wrong stripes. They're just sergeant's stripes, not FIRST Sergeant ones. Maybe the costume department will manage to promote him before the previews start!
July 21, 201311 yr A long interview with Sir Tim from early April. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p017c7hs I like James Fox's version of Fight The Fight more than Robert Lonsdale's, even though it's a tiny clip.
July 22, 201311 yr My son gave me the book for my birthday....all set to read it. ....will it be read before 30th September?!?
July 22, 201311 yr Author Come and feed the squirrels and then it would be finished. Did I mention that they are getrting fat now that Mum goes on the patio for a couple of hours a day. They either queue up or spend their time chasing each other
July 23, 201311 yr Author Read quicker? Nina and I may go and see what the show is like 2 weeks after 1st preview. Is it a bit too near the first for you?
July 23, 201311 yr Not going until the end of October Meg, so it will be interesting to hear what you make of it. Sue
