September 30, 201311 yr Celia Robinson @Celia181 6m .@FHTEMusical First half just finished. AMAZING!!! @DariusCampbell please could you NOT put your clothes back on from twitter..
September 30, 201311 yr Thanks, pip. I know it's only the first preview and it's quite a while to the press night. Nevertheless I've been on edge today. Still curious about how they do the beach scene on stage. Edit - another tweet - thebenjamintill : Very much enjoying From Here to Eternity. It's sumptuous and epic and it has a beautiful score. Well done all #FromHereToEternity I'm relieved about the score. Edited September 30, 201311 yr by Baytree
October 1, 201311 yr Beach scene was well done, with Darius in swimming trunks, body glistening with water. No blue waves though, just he sound of waves and a projection of the sea on a screen.
October 1, 201311 yr The beach scene was done extremely well. Very moving. The second half just got better and better. I was sat on the edge of my seat for the last bit. The bombing was very cleverly done with a fabulous slow motion scene. It was very emotional. It's really quite sad. They put together a brilliant show. I would be very happy to see it several times.
October 1, 201311 yr that old "THUD" is back - sounds wonderful, how many songs does Darius sing? I must find some special offers on tickets -tbh it is looking expensive factoring in train and number of tickets
October 1, 201311 yr All I can say is several, sorry. He sang extremely well. The star for me was Maggio, if that's what he was called. He was brilliant, a fantastic character. There were several good songs.
October 1, 201311 yr Sounds like it's off to a good start. Really looking forward to seeing this. It sounds like it's something special!! Sue
October 2, 201311 yr Lots of plaudits for the show again tonight. I just had to bring over this tweet. dizzyfeet : I've just seen Tim Rice's new musical "From Here To Eternity." Darius Campbell née Danesh is brilliant. What a fine actor he has become! Thanks, megham, for posting the one from Aldo Scrofani. He was never in doubt about Darius's talents. It's nice to see old friends getting in touch with D now he's back. There was one from Jules Knight (formerly of Blake, now in Holby City) last night and Brian Hill is hoping to team up with Darius soon.
October 2, 201311 yr lovely reading such praise - looking forward to going now so much!! 12th Oct here we come this tweet caught my eye Nigel Lythgoe @dizzyfeet 7h I've just seen Tim Rice's new musical "From Here To Eternity." Darius Campbell née Danesh is brilliant. What a fine actor he has become!
October 2, 201311 yr Aw.......Nigel! Such a good friend. When you add it all up, Darius has comparatively little acting experience. His resume looks decidedly thin compared to others in the casts of shows he has done, and yet he takes on these huge challenges, rises to them and holds his own. I hope Booth gets a chance to see Darius in FHTE. He wanted to be an actor before revolution turned his world upside down.
October 3, 201311 yr Found on youtube. There's a lot of traffic noise though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9J-8cYVPDk
October 10, 201311 yr Author This was Rebecca's blog. Darius seems to be enjoying it but, after Gone With The Wind' a constantly changing process will be nothing new Daily FHTE Blog: "Ch-Ch-Changes" - Rebecca Thornhill (Karen) 10 October 2013 at 12:57 I love change, I am a Gemini after all! So I haven't been disappointed in these last few months as it has been constant change. It has been a real test for the old grey matter learning and re-learning and such fun exploring new scenes, which also included a lot of tangerine throwing and word games. Bless my leading man for taking everything that was thrown at him! Previews have been interesting finally getting that all important audience reaction and making sure to get the story across. We moved a few musical numbers last night and they seemed to fit in like an old glove. We also had a new arrangement of one of my songs that went in last night written by the amazing David White and executed beautifully by our fine orchestra. And to add, I had my parents and a few old friends in, just to keep me extra alert! But I find myself at a loss today as I have no rehearsals, so I shall be feeding my face and storing up my energy for the next few weeks ahead. Roll on tonight! www.fromheretoeternitythemusical.com/blog/ Edited October 10, 201311 yr by megham
October 10, 201311 yr Thanks Meg. They are all working so hard, really hope this is the success it deserves to be. Sue
October 13, 201311 yr well, thoroughly enjoyed the show yesterday - effects were great - won't go into detail, but there were things that we thought could have been slightly tweaked - Darius was great- very powerful voice and presence, I was right behind Darius in the foyeur as he came in and startd chatting to someone in the ticket box - obviously I didn't say a word, OH was trying to get me to ask for my program signed,or nip round to the stage door to collar him outside but I didn't, LOL, all I did was take a sneaky photo or two of him on my phone,
October 13, 201311 yr Author Tim Rice was on the Andrew Marr Show on BBC1 this morning around 9:30. Mostly talking about the news in the papers but a plug fo 'From Here To Eternity' showing some cast photos. You will be able to see it on bbc iplayer pip - he loves meeting people. He'd have loved to sign your programme and say hello.
October 13, 201311 yr well you know me Meg, I feel a complete fool as I shake and my heart thuds - and I feel embarrassed to feel like that at my advanced years LOL - now had daughters been there, I would have used them as an excuse LOL- I just sneaked a photo or two - I did keep wondering if he was letting people know he was around, but I just stood behind him like a rabbit in headlights even though hubby said we could go outside when he eventually went outside and collar him. we really enjoyed the show
October 13, 201311 yr Glad you and your OH enjoyed the show, pip. I'm still struggling to get down to see it. Mentally, I'd pencilled in last Wednesday's matinee but then found an important meeting had been moved forward a week for the benefit of some official. I'd have skipped it if I wasn't a representative for many others - I hate letting people down. Megham, I saw Sir Tim on the Andrew Marr Show. It was a bit of a damp squib really, although there was one photo of Rebecca and Darius which I hadn't seen before. Why isn't he getting one of the five principals on shows like these to sing SOMETHING from the show live? Edited October 13, 201311 yr by Baytree
